Superb! Real music played by real musicians and sung by real singers- no autotune or pitch correct
Who could not like this adorable funky song?
Quincy would definitely appreciate this rendition. Orchestration on point.
He was there.
It was a tribute to him.
My hat off to the drummer. He is just nailing the groove. And Im a pianist. Anyway probably the best thing since sliced bread...
❤️ a Masterpiece
Agreed
What a talent we British have in Tommy Laurence, who did this wonderful arrangement.
Class
i'm loving this! funny to see some of the musicians smiling. They are thinking," this is pretty damn cool!" , not part of their usual play list for sure!
Yes , it is a part of their usual playlist , they do that lots of times.
41 years ago. My fave hangout. A hole in the wall. Ali Baba's. Brings back memories. Best days of my life.
Wow, they did so good!!! You can tell the orchestra are enjoying playing this song ~ rocking and smiling and grooving to the beat. And the singers blew it out the box!!! Go head ya'll!!! Loves me some orchestra music.
Bigtime sounds ✌🎶🎶🎺
Partied hard to this song in the 1970s. Great version, great song.
Hats off to Jules Buckley and to the singers and orchestra.
What a beautiful rendition. Quincy's best in my books.
I love the way they've injected bluesy chord progressions in the string section. It works so well with the overall funkiness of the brass section and the piece still struts its stuff with a strong R&B 'tude. Love it!
Oh yeah!
The Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley during the 2016 BBC Proms dedicated to Quincy Jones and his Music. Here the orchestra backs an incredibly grooving and soulful vocal group and there is a tenorsax solo by Leo Janssen.
PURE TO THE CORE. happy days. Dancing to it right now.
This song has lots of class. Thanks Mr. Jones!
great to see an orchestra playing one of my most favourite songs , brilliant
I just love the strings with the singing and sax solos! It reminds me of the creative height of the disco music era.
Can’t get enough of the Violins up in the high register. The Brass was definitely carrying the Power, Force, and Energy. Get Goose bumps and Chills on this 😊

I was way up in the gallery for this !!

Good orchestration all around. The Dude would be pleased at this
Jules Buckley is a excellent conductor!
Stuff like this!
This is just brilliant makes me happy
its really sad when the great? BBC could release this fantastic evenings music on a CD
As A Black Londoner; you’re Kidding me? Heavy….Actually I’m speechless
The conductor wields his baton like a surgeon wields a scalpel.
What a tune
Magnificent, simple as!
Oh my God. Many genius musicans 👍😃👏👏👏👏
Proud to be Dutch!
JazzFlits JazzFlits Great musicians and orchestra my friend.
@@stixkubwa Van Lier is a knockout horn player.
¡De esto se trata la vida y ser felíz!
Virtuoso Bart Van Lier tucked away in the Trombone section.
BEAUTIFUL!
Love this! So sweet!
Brilliant version 😊
Wonderful experience
I Love this❤
The way the lady flutist looks at the saxophonist makes me think are they a couple 🤔
For goodness' sake! These Brits and the Dutch orchestra (Metropole Orkest) do American music better than Americans can.
I couldn't imagine anything this wonderful on a Grammys program. Sad but true. American performers are hiking up the wrong trail.
Very good!
Velika predstava nježnosti, ljubavi puno tajni milina čista voda nade život ispunjen do... ❤️...
EXCELLENT!!!!!!
Thanks
Basement Jaxx, vocal. Fantástico.
❤❤❤
me levanta el espiritu escuchar esto.
Cooooooooool!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just found out that QJ and me were born on the same day of the month of August!
Sorry, Q was born March 4th. HE BELONGS TO PISCES.
Who are the singers?
Love the dude singer with the hat!
Brendan Reilly
@@donnabeesley9624 Thanks for the info Donna.
that accented beat 1 at 2:04 gets me every time 𝅘𝅥
not just anybody can step in for Chaka and Valerie Simpson - these singers are pretty tight
One negative. The music, singing, and environment is top notch but in the credits they left off Chaka Kahn. She is the one that nails the song in the end. But, as I said this is a tremendous rendition. Gave it 2 thumbs up
Jazz funk plus classical. Always a good mix. Always thought jazz and classical is very close. Bach first composer to write jazz! Any thoughts.
Nope not Bach -- Buddy Bolden
I love orchestral music. Big Sound. But who are the singers? June 2020.
❤
Top um show
Good.
👍🏼WaaaoooooW✝️
Was Quincy there in the audience?
Yes

Fabulous lead vocalist on this version, there is an essence of Chaka Khan about her vocal arrangement - if that's the correct term to use! She is also fabulous singing Basement Jaxx songs with Metropole Orkfest orchestra. Anybody know her name?
Valerie Simpson,Nicholas Ashford,
and Chaka Khan sang on the song.
Vula Malinga is the singer
@@donnabeesley9624 Many thanks Donna!
Who is the PRETTY WOMAN leading the vocals?
Backing vocals: Basement Jaxx
Not sure if it’s how it’s been recorded but the drums are muffled and the bass... where’s the bass? The bass has to drive it.
Valerie Simpson Nicolas Ashford !!🥲
By
Great, but it’s missing Chaka
Also missing the whole iconic band, Anthony Jackson's bass is smoking on the original!
Why oh why have they removed 'Stomp' from the BBC proms collection? Total kill-joys. How very sad ...and spiteful

Good to pay dues to Tommy Laurence. His Just Once started the rout.Pity the singer didn't know the words and sang half in his own tongue, but it was an emotional performance and he got away with it.Then Stuff like that and Stomp had the audience swinging by the chandeliers. Then came Billie Jean. However truth to say, it was so good it would have received a rapturous reception at the Deaf Institute.
Ya talking shite.
💙💜🤎🧡💚♥️
TBH, the singers are better than the originals...sorry Chuka and Valerie...x They are clearly kings and queens of soul, gospel, jazz and style...The second singer looks like Incognito's Vula Malinga...
And the singer in the hat is Brendan Reilly. See them on utube at Ronnie Scott’s
NICE TRY, BUT.......
Wow that was terrible(Stuff like that) where did the GROOVE go??? The bass and drums sound like they're wadeing through molasses
Man stop it!!!
This was perfect
