Discovered TesseracT through CZcams Reaction requests on my channel about 2 years ago and I haven’t looked back since. Have all of their vinyl records apart from ‘One’ hanging on my wall. Would highly recommend listening to the studio version of this album from start to finish, it’s my favourite of all time 🔥

After many listens Portals is my favorite album. The mix is heavier and slightly punchier which works perfectly with their syncopated rhythms and I love Dan's vocals. Cheers 🤘
I don't know why but that last song 'resist' makes me tear up every time, it's such an emotional and incredibly powerful build up. Loved your reaction to this video
@@BlackSun6393 did you hear Sirens off of the new record? It's in their top 3 most pretty songs with Resist and Tourniquet imo. Those last two minutes are incredible
Yeah Dan is the live killer and can rock this band like a frontman and imo can rely less on backing harmonies. Incredible vocalist and dude. The first time I checked out Twitch was to look at him streaming and when I put him on he was asking for recommendations. I typed something in and no lie he chose my recommendation and sung Evolution from Skyharbor. Best intro I could ever have into watching a live stream, and to have that be one of my fav vocalists too.. awesome experience! Ashe on the other hand can craft something super special in the studio and holds the no1 spot with Altered State as my favorite modern prog album. It's such a tight album and ashe really shines on it
Awesome musicians right? I would love to see you guys check out Time, the Valuator. They are a newer underrated band from Germany who take a lot of inspiration from Tesseract but the songs are shorter and more dynamic I reckon. Please listen to their songs “Starseeker” “Cloud City” or “Heritage”
You guys should check out the vocalists original band! Voices from the fuselage really awesome! This was a side thing for him, he only did one album with tesseract! They have their original singer Daniel Tompkins back now
People say he left because he could perform as well as in the album. But, for me, he had the perfect vocals for Tesseract. At least the idea of atmosferic vocals in ambient prog djent is awesome. Still prefer him over the ex-actual vocalist because, in tesseract, I prefer the softer parts. And Altered State functions perfectly with this.
Lol. Nah. Just checked it out after I saw this comment his vocals just don't fit for me. I honestly haven't heard a tesseract album where I thought Dan was better. That's not to say I dislike Dan, I just don't feel like this is his style.
@@Abaddonian lol, nah, Ashe struggled to hit some of his own vocals from Altered State when they performed it live Dan has more grit, I mean, he can scream like a beast. He fits better in the metal style of Tesseract, it's why they started with him
@@darkphoenix2 My bad I thought you meant an album to album comparison not live. I knew he struggled with that, but comparing studio sound I prefer Ashe still his vocals just fit the overall ethereal sound better imo. I loved Dan in Skyharbor and WMBBF though.

I just got the blue variant vinyl of One. Also got the picture disc of Polaris on Record Store Day last month. Life is complete!

Altered state is their best album, IMO. Its one of those albums you listen to straight through, like Mer de Noms, or Lateralus. It flows so smoothly.

This is their older stuff too, Sonder is their recent one with Dan who I love, Ashe has a great soft voice, but Dan has power in his vocals

I've loved this album ever since waking up stoned to Retrospect playing in my ears. Gave me a deeper understanding of the word "ethereal"
all are very talented musicians. Ashe(vocalist) sang with another band as well called Voices from the Fuselage. their EP To Hope is fantastic.
Tesseract and Karnivool are two bands that are above the rest, enormous bands and both have new albums coming out.
Discovered this band because they were the act before Babymetal at Sonisphere 2014. Amazing band!

They may have created this song with Ashe as the vocalist but the new version from their Portals album with Dan sounds more powerful IMO

Yeah I think Dan is a better live performer but the original studio album is a lot better than the portals one imo
