I really love, how on this F-18 livery they have painted a second cockpit on the opposite side of - under - the normal cockpit, so it is harder for enemy pilots to see which way the aircraft is facing. That is such a neat idea!

Canada actually paints their jets like that. Every advantage and trick you can get and use is a bonus when your military is underfunded.
I honestly don’t know if it ACTUALLY works but hey 1 in a million chance is still a good reason to paint it on there. Not like there is anything else you’d rather have there instead.
@@GrowlingSidewinder It also is something that the enemy pilot, in the heat of battle, is not going to be trained to look for and anticipate. Could be more effective than you think. It's probably better than 1 in a million tbh

Yay some Canadian representation! I wish CAF had a larger variety of aircraft. A handful of homogeneous F-18s isn’t enough to get military buffs exited.

I remember watching the Canadian CF-18 demo here in Brazil back in 2012. Amazing aircraft and a beautiful display by Cpt. Patrick “Paco” Gobeil.
I work on F/A-18C/D and it’s so amazing to see my aircraft dogfight and shoot down other aircraft. It’s also fun being apart of the aviation community. I do mention you a lot at work when we are talking about AC capabilities. Thank you for all your videos and dedication to aviation!

This is well said. To answer your question, it is not a matter of waiting, but actually not having the time to enjoy it all. Even if GS got them to give it to me for free, it wouldn't work. I barely have the time to watch these outstanding videos! And that torques me off to no end because I really want to give this a try and maybe one lucky day get that kill on GS. 😎
One thing I love about the Hornet that I noticed in a previous video is the alpha (angle of attack) on the hud - as an engineer it makes me happy and helps to understand the energy state of the aircraft as well.

Those CF-18 are badass! They may be old, but many of them have JHCMS, Link 16 Datalink, AIM-9X Block II capable and APG-79(V)4 ASEA radar on board, and Canadian pilots are superbly trained!

Abbotsford airshow back in the day; as a kid I got myself in amongst some US pilots (F-16, F-14 & F-15’s up for the show) and we watched a CF-118 demonstration where at one point she slowly flew the length of the runway at a high angle of attack. At the runways end she dropped her nose, kicked on the afterburners and went vertical. I was loving it, but the comments from the Yank pilots stuck with me. They were impressed.

fun fact, Canada went from the CL-13 (F86 Sabre), to the F-104 star fighter, and leaping to the CF-18 which has been in service for 40 years. Canada has some of the best F-18 pilots on the planet.

@@AL-31 we have about 12, f-18s and a 100 Pilots to share them. They get like 30 hours a year. How we can have the best hornet Pilots in the world when you never fly, is beyond me
@@chrisstaples182that's not true about them not flying, I grew up in cold lake Alberta it's on me if the biggest bases in Canada and you'd hear/see hornets flying over you every day. It got to a point where the sound of a jet almost didn't register because you get so used to it. You could also just go out to the view point beside the runway and just watch them if you wanted to.

Always love seeing the CF188 being taken up on this channel. Will miss those things when they are phased out for the 35s.
Forgot to mention, it might be a legacy Hornet, but the RCAF have done quite a bit (largely out of necessity) to keep the avionics and such modernized.
They won’t be phased out for a long while but I have a feeling we are gonna keep them around either as trainers or extra air power (we need all we can get lol)
@@delsymdrinker8064 Unlikely, especially given the maintenance costs once a full fleet is established. What I think would be super cool, though, is to see the CF114 Tutors retired and the CF188s made into the new Snowbirds demo team.
I have seen the CF-18 like 20 times at Airshows here. Always the highlight of the show. Love the (relatively) unique fake canopy painted on the underside. Excited to finally see the Canadian F-35 soon.
Of all the jets, the American F18-Hornet and the Russian SU27-Flanker are certainly two of my all time favorites. As a kid, one of my very first model builds was the F18 Hornet and it was not small either. I also had a framed picture on my wall of two SU-27s flying in formation! Two of the most beautiful military jets ever build, posing in my room... now, I am 44..... Awww man, the nostalgia some of your videos give me, it's nuts! Great work! Thank you.

On the first fight. I'm actually grateful that you messed up. Typically every DCS video is 'how to be awesome' but very rarely do we have a 'you messed up, he's how to get back in it' vid. Would love more of these 'sticky situation' kind of reversals and advise.

The F18 nose authority is a real thing. I have an RC F18C "Fists of the fleet" & F15C. The F18 is so much more fun because of how well it rotates
I recently just started playing DCS as my first module I picked up the Viggen and its been a blast to fly! there's still a lot that I need to learn but man I am looking forward to leaning DCS
I'm not watching these because I want to play DCS or buy anything. I watch these because they're entertaining.

Great video man. I'm just getting into DCS recently. I got the F-15 because it was 15 bucks off the store. I'm definitely gonna have to get started in the F/A-18 because of how good of a one circle fighter it is. For real man, she really will do some special things for you. Really great in the one circle.

There was Super Hornet versus Felon 3 weeks ago on the channel. Interesting engagement, but even with GS level of skill and mastery of F-18 he got smoked.
It works get completely smoked because it’s an early 4th gen.
I live in a flight zone of FA/18’s they fly the river like the top gun movie when it’s not cloudy. Awesome sight to see.
Problem is, the Canadian hornets are all actually A/B models, while they had most of their avoinics upgraded to the C/D standard in the 90’s, all the airframes are between 35 and 40 years old.

That was beautiful to watch, especially the throttle splitting moves, been messing around those but still too noob in bfm to actually use them in any fights lol. Quick question though, you happen to know how to get the hud and hmd that bright? seems atleast in open beta they are way too washed out to sometimes actually see against bright clouds for example and i've tried looking for a solution from all over the place. Awesome vid!

I love the Hornet, has that goofy ass maneuverability when slow and has a gun mounted on the nose like it’s WWII so you don’t even need a gun sight (sometimes).
