I actually fell into a deep sleep with this on, intending to go back to "Solitudes H20", reading an article about 'Why the Ocean is Scarier Than Space', and finding the oblivion and vastness, like space, relaxing. For so many years I really didn't like going to the beach. So many bad things happened to me with my family on beach trips. So many shark attacks were reported as well, I was afraid to go in and everything was so loud, crowded, chaotic... but then last year I made peace with the Water Element, which represents the Sacral Chakra, the consciousness, childhood, base emotions, raw creativity, and chi life force energy. Water is an element you cannot control, it is impossible to. Water literally IS a living organism, like Earth, and if it doesn't have feelings, it certain retains feelings and alters... and you are a water being. The Water Chakra is where your most fluid and powerful feelings are based, which impact your entire system and frame of consciousness. Coincidence?
The ocean and the conscious self can be scary. You can see it, but not what is beneath it, much like one's own consciousness. You can navigate it, but not control it. You can harness it, or use it for energy and power, but you cannot control it. Not even the Moon can control the ocean, but it can influence its movements. You don't know what's inside it. 95% of it is unexplored; I believe this is about the same figure for the brain. Dangerous things can come up and get you. Unknown things can come into view or wash ashore, leaving you scared. You can see something that came out of it and think you can touch it, but it stings and scars you. Things within it are the closest things to aliens we'll perhaps ever see. Whenever humans try to tame it or understand it, we are utterly wrong and beaten down, humbled. And yet we rely on it for our very existence. We are, as the article said, biologically drawn to it. Its waves create negative ions, which are biologically healing to human flesh... yet the water which partakes in their creation will crush you at not even very deep depths and can suck you out to your death. The ocean, the Water Element, and the consciousness are based upon contradiction and vastness, incomprehension. The best we can do is not surrender to them, but to the idea we can control them, and learn instead how to channel, ride, and work with them.
May all those who struggle with the fear of or aversion to the ocean or water be blessed and learn to harness and overcome that fear, as I did. What I have written about was how I came home, how last November I went to the shoreline and felt peace and serenity there for the first time in so long, and now wish to return to it. You have to realize that it's inside you, that it is life, but it is not controllable. It's inside you and it holds feelings. Your aversion to it and to your fears hold you down literally by your own hand, the water within retaining those feelings and souring, staling, even corroding. That same water, once fear is surrendered to nature and to oblivion, multiplies healing just as quickly as it does corrosion and anxiety. As a water being you are, like the element, a mirror to various sentiments. Your inner ocean can keep those sentiments away once the water, the chi, is galvanized and more at your hand, indirectly. I have tried often to swim out from shore but I cannot because the waves and current are so strong... the ocean is like that, it can reject and push back. This can be you with your fears and energies not native to you. You can contain your own sea and it can be a vital ecosystem. You cannot control what is within the ecosystem, the creatures, sentiments, demons, feelings, etc, but even the most scary of them can be on your side and kept at a sort of peace by your feeding said ecosystem within; a calming but controlled and majestic sea.
