Dememtus, I would argue, was the better tactical and military leader, we don't get to see it but he is better in a lot of ways to joe and not in others, at least who Joe is at the time as we don't get to see Joe when he was taking and building up his group/ gang.
He would have made a great general for Joe / right-hand man / his succeser, but Joe is more well-rounded and better at resources management, it's almost unlucky they didn't team up to take out the place of abundance and then Joe would have seen his potential as his actual succeser, and the protector of his blood line and everything he's built and spent his life devoted to.
The place of abundance is a nice place, but in a world like that, it was too weak and silly to exist in the way it's shown in the show, it was only a matter of time before it was found and conquered, its unfortunate they whent the way they did but the citadel will likely be destroyed by other warlords later on as the much weaker people own it now, I just don't see it surviving in a world like that enless there population is just to massive for anyone to conquer.

This should be like 500.years from now. I think of MadMax as a folk hero whose story is told by word burgers. Mad Max is actually a bunch of different people but their exploits are all ascribed to a single semi-legendary folk hero a la Paul Bunyan or johnny Appleseed. But each one takes on the mantle of Joe, pretending they are the same "IMMORTAL" Joe. That would explain the obsession with having a healthy son to take up the name.
There was Max Rockatansky, probably the cop from the first movie. Not only was he a cop in an at least semi functional society but he was on vacation with his wife and kid. I don't think a vacationing society fits into the Fury Road world. But maybe someone found the jacket with an officer Max Rockatansky I.D. and that's how the legend began or the name was totally invnted or whatever, but there's like at least a couple hundred years there between original Mad Max and Fury Road. Oh and the more stories Told about this legendary Max, the greater the likelihood people will name their children Max, so the at least 3 or 4 versions of Max we've seen could have reasonably been named Max.

      I highly disagree.
      A) He was a bad guy. He forced women to become his sex slaves. Held back all of the water and food to feed his inner circle. And, he transformed himself into a God-king and built an army of gullible young men.
      B) Calling the citadel a bastion of humanity is a bit of a stretch. It was a bastion for Joe and his inner circle. The humans living at the base of the citadel (the crowds at the start of Fury road) were eating cadavers and living in miserable conditions. They looked like shambling corpses despite living right beneath it.
      C) Immortan Joe wasn't smart with his water dispersion. He just opened the valves, forcing the people fight for the right to drink water. Also, since no one had proper tools to harvest the water, most of it was wasted on the ground.
      D) "no one is going to ration it now" The scene shows how Furiosa wants share the water and food with the people living down below, not just the royalty who live high in the citadel. Everyone seems to be well fed and Immortan wasn't rationing anything up there. Immortan produced enough water and food to feed both Gas Town and the Bullet Farm. This indicates that the citadel is capable of producing a ton of surplus.
Also, don't forget the Vuvalini seeds that Furiosa brought back. This help the citadel flourish even more.
I get that Joe is a cool character and he managed to accomplish a lot in the world of Fury Road, but he's not a "good" guy.

it was fear of loosing the empire he created by himself, as no competent ruler could be dedicated by him.
His system was the problem, there should be a trial of rulership every 5 year and those who win can take controll. This system ensure that always the best traits go over and creates a mankind to lead.

I love how they never explain you Immortan Joe background story, and a simple view he looks like a basic villain obsessed with his harem of young sex slaves, but if you pay attention you see the clues that tell a deeper story, his body obviously affected by radiation the fact that a man with a harem only have 3 sons and all of them are "genetic absurdities" his desperation when Splendid die with his son a child "perfect in every way" the medals on his armor, that weird mixture of old mythology and modern world to create a cult following where the war boys think he touched the sun with his hands and give cult to cars he understands the importance of a system of belief to give legitimacy to his regime guarantee following and minimize possible rebellions, maybe a prequel about the fights of Immortan to take the citadel and found his empire would be great

According the picture, he is shown with 4 stars on this shoulder tabs, but that is a uS system, not commonwealth. The equivalent rank, uS 4 start general, in Australia, is simply, general and the insignia for that rank, bears no resemblance to the pic at 1:00. Of course, this makes the image wrong on 2 counts. The rank badges themselves, and the fact that Imortan Joe was a colonel, not a general.
NOTE: In Australia, a general is overall chief of the defense force, a rank Joe clearly never attained before the fall. Had Australia survived as a functioning society, he no doubt would have attained the rank of general, either 1 star, or higher.

Might no longer have been possible, air and sea travel were probably gone, high command had likely run off to some bunker or sanctuary and ordered units to hold their positions where they either deserted or got wiped out. Looks like when Joe finally abandoned Sydney they were on bikes, probably because they didn't have enough fuel to run their heavy equipment much less ships or planes.
