    Thank you for all your videos on the FT-991A. I am new to HAM radio and just got this radio. I am still figuring out which antennas to get and how to best exit the house, but hopefully in the next two weeks I’ll have it settled:-)

    Thank you for the video; I'm new to Ham Radios, and I trying to suck up everything I can find about the Radio, Antennas, Software, and Tuner I purchased.

    I learn something from each video you do. Curious that RTs doesn't reference the menu item number to coincide with the item number in the manual and radio. I understand RTs seems to group related functions, so perhaps I am learning more about the radio.

      No problem Edward, thanks for the message, this strange , I wondered about that myself, you would think having registers to enter variables with the same location (number) would be logical? I'm working with that's why there's been some strange videos popping up I'm not in front of the radio this weekend, I'm learning new software plans for more videos, '73 de KI5JUF good to hear from you!!

    What's the difference between the Menu Settings in the Programmer and the Menu Editor software? There are obviously formatting differences, but I am not sure if they are both editing the same information in the FT-991a. Thanks

      Hi Steve, the Menu controls the actual buttons and features you use when touching the buttons, the Programmer is only for the frequencies and memory locations, normally I always disable the Menu check box so it it does not overwrite any active settings. Let me know if you need anything else always email me glad to help '73

    just started the video and had to pause it to see what you have programmed in to your radio. I am sure I will edit this comment when the video is over but.... I love my RT Systems software. It lets me copy and paste frequencies from radio to radio. Do you do the External Data under the file dropdown menu? It lets you choose like all repeaters within 150 miles of Abilene or what ever city you want. And it imports ALL of the settings for said repeaters.

    Is there any simple free programming software like chirp for this radio?

    • @westtexasvideogateski5juf255
      @westtexasvideogateski5juf255 Před 2 lety

      Good morning Pat, There are some generic programming software programs from Yaesu and I think they are free let me do some digging '73, CHIRP is also another one and it's free, as ling as you have USB A to B that should work, I'll get back to you '73

      @@westtexasvideogateski5juf255 if i have to pay for it then OK. But my Retavis RT 90 came with a lead and programming software, as did my Retavis RT3 DMR handheld. But a 1300+ pound radio doesn't ?
