I’m pregnant with my first baby girl I’m due September 5th. My fiancé has another daughter and her name is annabelle grace. I want something close or similar or ad;east goes along with it. We do only call her belle. He only likes the name Olivia I personal don’t like it. I’m trying to find a unique not trendy or popular baby girl name. @@telliiii2289 I mean, maybe they would allow it (though we do have laws on naming children here in Germany, like it can't be a name endangering the child's well being (for example, if your last name is panties, first name Pink / Rosa / Blue any colour would be a no - yes, that happened, no the child was not allowed to be named Rosa)), but I'm not too sure if, legally, they can refuse Phoenix
We have the exact same word for the mythological creature, also spelled Phoenix or Phönix, but pronounced differently - Ph - ö - nix (don't know how to explain how ö sounds lol, it's not an "o" or "e" sound though, you'll have to look it up if you're interested), which would be my number 1 reason not to name my child that
and then when you go to register your child's name, I'm pretty sure the person would ask you if you are 100% sure you want to name your child Phoenix because it might be setting them up to get teased for the name. I don't know if they can refuse the name (though I'm guessing they might and you'd have to go to court if you insist on calling your baby Phoenix? idk how that would work, I'd have to ask my dad who works at the town hall), but it would definitely be harder to get accepted than Max or Tom or any other basic name 👍🏻😂

but I think you'd definitely get weird looks, I wouldn't do it - maybe an alternative spelling that also gives the same pronunciation as in English, like Phinix or Finix

Only thing with Bauer (that you should know) is that it is the German word for farmer. Whether you have German speaking friends or family, could be stationed in Germany with the army in the future, or just love traveling to Germany, the reason isn't important: If you are or might regularly be around German speaking people, this name is probably not for you (the reactions to the name would just not be good lol)
If you don't care about that (or no one in your life speaks German), then it could be a cute name for you!

As a German, I will never be able to see it as a name and it seems weird to me.
But the majority of the world doesn't speak German or has any connection to us, so why would it be weird to them?
