    My 99 tahoe 4x4 tahoe with pretty much mid level trim" pretty much cd player and rear air was the only mentionable added options i could find other than Z71 package", was around 33k according to the window sticker. Adjusted for inflation that's right under 50 k today. So over 20 years it hasn't gone too far up in price surprisingly. Still seems like a lot of money though.

      Chevy wants to be taken seriously. They need to emulate super cars if they want the Corvette to be a super car. Which is what the Corvette has been trying to do since day one.
      Like if Honda wants to be taken seriously in the large SUV/full size truck segment.. they have to offer F/R body on frame designs like Toyota does.

    That 7.1sec to 60 has gotta be the slowest times I've ever seen from an L87 V8. The old Tahoe RST ran to 60 in 5.7secs, and the old Escalade in 5.9secs. This Tahoe weighs nearly the same as the old model, despite being larger. Was it super hot out, MW? Something just seems off. Also of note, premium fuel is "recommended", not required. It is best used in towing and for max performance. Otherwise, great review Motorweek. As John said, it is "FULL FRAMED AND UNASHAMED"!!😊

    Okay, I'm confused. How the hell did you manage the 0 to 60 time @ 7.1 seconds with the 420 horsepower motor?? That model is generally clocked at late 5-second range on its 0 to 60 runs. Unless you got a model with something wrong with the transmission, I think somebody either flubbed something, or you must've tested the 5.3L.

      6.2 is the only option for high country trim. High 5 seconds is not very realistic though and 7 seconds is a lot more realistic and I would say even good. The f150 raptor barely breaks 6 seconds and it has more power and torque, a sport suspension, aggressive gear ratios, and is considerably lighter.

    Let's say I have $70K for a car. I'd better buy 1999 K1500 Suburban LT for $5K. Spend another let's say $30K on restoring it and I'll have a ready-for-everything Suburban for the rest of my life. Simple and very reliable truck. I'd never buy this one. GM spoiled it really bad. Same with Silverado and Tahoe. $70K... In 5 years they'll lose about $25K for nothing. Not to mention new ones are mechanic's attention demanding. Now they require premium gas. Premium gas - 2022 really??? MPG is still not great. For over 22 years they just go only 2-3 miles further on one gallon - so much for improvements. Manufacturers just wanna pull more money out you pockets.

  • @CFG39
    @CFG39 Před 3 lety

    I hate the new Tahoe and Suburban’s styling. The rear end now looks like a Ford Expedition, all flat assed and the stupid chrome strip across the tailgate looks terrible. GM’s infotainment is horrible too, and the analog gauges look like they belong in 2005. The center stack just looks so cheap. For the kind of money one of these things costs, I would be going for an Audi Q7, BMW X5 or X7, or Mercedes-Benz GLE/GLS. At least all of those vehicles actually look decent outside, have more efficient and powerful engine options and don’t look like they share their interior parts with a $29,000 base model Chevy Silverado 1500 work truck.

    Same issues as the GM full size trucks. Ugly overall styling but the front end is just hideous. The side view mirrors should be mounted in the corners of the front windows, not some ugly, black, triangular piece of plastic. The roof structure above the front doors is WAY TOO short. The distance from the top of the windshield to the B pillar is at sharp angle and just too short from the rest of the roof. Really noticeable from a side profile.
