I was contacted by HoffmanMyster a few weeks ago, asking if I would be interested to review items that Drop (formerly known as Massdrop) would send me, These are pre-production samples of one of Drop’s DCD Hundred Acres keycaps designed by Beesley and Cthalupa of Bees Keys.
I receive all these review items for free, BUT, whatever item I get, in this case, samples of an upcoming keycap set, I buy with my own money.
The items that I am sent I keep to do with whatever I wish. The items that I buy with my own money are given away. I was sent the DCD Hundred Acres base kit, international kit, and novelties kit. What I bought with MY own money was two base kits, two international kits, two novelty kits, AND TWO of each variant of the Hundred Acres desk mat (3 variants).
In this situation, all six desk mats and the six kits that I bought with my own money are being given away to a real-life friend who loves Winnie the Pooh as well as her daughter once the mats and keycaps are fulfilled later this year.
So, yes, I do get things for free, but I will ALWAYS, without hesitation, regardless of whether I like the item (or items) or not, buy the same exact item (or items) if not more like in this case with the desk mats, because I didn’t get any of the desk mats for free to give away however I see fit, which for me, takes care of the “I got this for free” bias.
In terms of any requirement to ONLY speak about the positives of this keycap set or anything I get in the future, it’s the opposite. I was told very clearly, multiple times, to NOT just talk about the positives, and was given ZERO input on what things to talk about.
I was told to review them the way that I see fit. I was given no script, no talking points, or no directive.

This is the 100th video of the channel! I appreciate everyone for their support. You all are the reason why I even got this opportunity to review this keycap set.
Not every sound test will mimic what a keyboard sounds like in real life. I suggest listening to other sound tests and taking everything with a grain of salt.
Remember, even if YOU record your board exactly how it sounds like in YOUR room it doesn’t mean that it’ll sound the same on someone else’s desk, in their environment, to THEIR ears.
I am not a professional, my room is not sound-treated, and a lot of my boom arms are attached to the desk that I am typing on.
I do not do sound tests to be as accurate as possible and portray what a board sounds like perfectly in real life. This is something I do for fun!
I will continue to improve my sound tests with better lighting, video, and audio, but please do not take my videos as professional-grade or “how a keyboard with this config will sound like”.
I hope that using different mics will illustrate that depending on your mic, you may catch higher/lower frequencies better than other mics, and some mics sound naturally “brighter” or “darker” than other mics, even without any filters or any sort of post-processing.

Sound Test Specs
- Recorded in an untreated room, so background noises can sometimes be heard (and outside noise)
- Glorious 4mm thick desk mat on a solid wood desk
- Panasonic HDC-TM90 Camcorder
- Audio normalization in DaVinci Resolve for easier listening, but no other sort of EQ or alterations were made to the audio
- Recorded in Reaper and rendered in 24-bit/48 kHz
- Audio interface sample rates at 48 kHz

- Lewitt 040 Matched pair of small diaphragm condenser mics in AB configuration mounted on a mic stand not in contact with the desk that I type on running into an Audient Evo 8, gain set at 2:30
- Rode NT1 5th Gen condenser mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on running into an Audient Evo 8, gain set at 2 O’Clock
- Audio Technica AT2020 condenser mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on running into an Audient Evo 8, gain set at 2 O’Clock
- Samson Q2U dynamic mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on using USB mode, gain set at 45%
- Samson Q9U dynamic mic mounted on a boom arm attached to the desk used to type on using USB mode, gain set at 45%, no filters or mid-boosts on
- Google Pixel 7 Pro mounted on a gooseneck mount not connected to the desk used to type on
- The Samson Q2U, Samson Q9U, Rode NT1 5th Gen, and AT2020 are in some way attached to the typing desk. The Pixel 6a and the Lewitt 040 mics are not
- Lewitt and phone 15 cm away from the top of the keycaps (rough distance between my ears and the keycaps when measured directly vertically)
- All other mics 15 cm away diagonal from the top of the keycaps to my ears (thanks for the tip, Ray)
- No windscreens or pop filters are attached to any of the mics

This was amazing. I have never seen someone do a better review on keycaps and its not even remotely close.
