A case study in UK, during the Boris Johnson saga- ( the former PM) claiming the popular election mandate, in history of recent times. , but not allowed a party at Number 10, despite several sorry apologies, the support from his party, the various establishment - the moment the the Independent National commissioners bodies stepped in, and he was found guilty. He knew the game was over!

Please, this suggestion one year before taking oath of office... for me,is too long... just to accommodate electoral litigation?!?!.. What ever happened to acceptance of defeat in the spirit of sportsmanship ⁉️ Instead of wasting valuable time on this culture of not accepting electoral defeats in good faith... challenge if you must... but, know when to stop!!!
