I though ANA flights out of Chicago had their older seats/hard product. Has this recently changed?
They still routinely use the old product, but I was just lucky enough to have an equipment swap notified via email 2 days ago.
ANA uses new 777 for Chicago to Tokyo now? my flight will be at the end of May, somehow it shows still the old 777 type
It is still routinely operated by the old 777. But I was lucky enough to have a last minute equipment swap!

Yes, there was an equipment switch 3 days before the departure date.
It was originally the regular first class when I first booked.

The best Japanese cuisine is on flight departing Tokyo. For flight departing US, probably western is a better option.
That makes sense too. I suspect that the quality of catering in Japan is superior than the one in the U.S.
