Lovely story telling Dan! Even with being familiar with the history you still have me on the edge of my seat :) Kay, smallpox was declared eradicated in 1980 and there have not been any naturally occurring cases since. Thanks for a lovely show!
I live 15 minutes from Elvington 20 mins from York. If you Google Eden camp my friend Howard owns that WW2 museum- previously a POW camp. It is a must! Absolutely fantastic day out xx
Loved all this and loved the Barnard Castle story - lived a few miles from there a number of years ago. You must visit Eden Camp when next in the York area. This has just been Fabaroo. Thank you. 🧶🧶 going to look at your sock patterns now.👍
The episode"A Castle Nation" So interesting! Can't wait for the next installment! Looking back in history, you'd think things would change for the better but today these stories repeat themselves! Always drama and intrigue!
i absolutely love you two and i just love the history that you show. i love history anyway but you all just put so much into it and make one want to learn more. thank you once again for your hard work and as always i cannot wait until the next show
Such a great episode. Thank you both. Thank you also for your help with the pretty Scarflette. I had not seen the link to the very clear video. Hopefully, it will progress now. Originally from Cumbria, it wasn't until I came to London that I was introduced to Pease Pudding still served with ham hock and root vegetables. Obviously a Winter dish. Not everything changes.😀. Well done both. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. The Museum at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire is also wonderful. They have the beautiful Lancaster Bomber "Just Jane". She is awe-inspiring. And, of course, many many more planes and artifacts. Really worth a visit. Love to all from Lynne xxx
Oh my gosh. I was just blown away with the history you did. It’s the only way I’d see that part of the world That was so captivating. I’m a new fan USA Ohio. That was truly spectacular 🎉
Also Google church Fenton -15 mins from York. The spitfire flies out of there in summer -it’s an old RAF base and part is a film studio nowadays. Elvington is where Richard Hammond had his big accident xx
Lol I just had to pause you both to go look on Google earth 😂 we live near Gatwick airport but I’m definitely going to visit that plane museum this summer, so cool!
Hi Mary! Thanks so much!! We never actually turned off CC. CZcams removed it a little while ago then when they brought it back, they were switched off. It is now rectified and turned on. If ever you have a problem in future our Apple Podcasts upload and our Podbean upload, linked in our show notes always has CC and a full episode transcription. Best wishes! Dan
Thanks for letting us know - we did see it right before we published the show but we thought it was funny so we left it in 😂 I shall reclaim them next time

My father was a tail gunner (one of the few that survived) for the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW ll. I think he flew a Lancaster.
Wow, i really enjoyed this episode, especially all the little details Dan in the story of the food and Elizabeth's life. ❤
Thanks so much Helena!

Ooh I love your Christmas socks in the Birdstreet Yarn! They’re one of my favourite dyers.
I love the Nutkin socks. The yarn is beautiful. Thank you for another informative episode.
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Googled and found nissen huts. In Canada we would call them quonset huts.
Loved your video and history of castles are awesome!!

Also Google church Fenton -15 mins from York. The spitfire flies out of there in summer -it’s an old RAF base and part is a film studio nowadays.
Elvington is where Richard Hammond had his big accident xx
Now I'm curious about the new Gladiator movie. Two of my favorite big screen action movies are Gladiator and Braveheart.
Lol I just had to pause you both to go look on Google earth 😂 we live near Gatwick airport but I’m definitely going to visit that plane museum this summer, so cool!
It’s 15 mins from me it’s fantastic. I did the hair for a 40s Theme wedding there years ago
There’s a place up the road from me called Pease Pottage - how weird to name a place after food 😆
Finger mouse - definitely in Finger Bobs- and Kay you sang finger mouse’s song correctly

@@BakeryBears Thank you SO much. I thought something like that happened. Thank you for doing that. (((HUGS)))
Hi. When dan was talking about his new cast on, he put up keys 5th cast on, not dans 5th cast on
Yes, I spotted that too, thank you. It was too late to change it unfortunately 💖
It is Nissen huts. Named after a Canadian Lt.Col Nissen who designed them for World War One. Sorry Dan. -50
…. Dan’s 5th Cast On … (not Kay’s!) 😂
Thanks for letting us know - we did see it right before we published the show but we thought it was funny so we left it in 😂 I shall reclaim them next time
