  • TORR VALE MILL IS COMPLETE!
I was beginning to think I’d never get to this stage, but gratefully here we are. 4 months in the making, many, many hours on cutting card, wrapping with brick paper, 3d printing, varnishing/ painting, weathering and not forgetting much blending in of buildings and features to match the surrounding areas.
I still need to do the river pour, but I’ll save that for a dedicated video in a month or two.
Thank you to you all for sticking with the build, but it’s soon time to think what is next? I am taking a short break from layout building for week or so, chance to do some OO gauge, you never know.

The angles created by the various sections makes for a spectacular view, forcing the viewer to search for where things are.

Yes I agree, when I was deciding whether to build the mill it was that there are so many angles, facets and tiny lil features for the eye. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

This is absolutely gorgeous, John, and when you populate it with visitors and staff, it will be absolutely amazing. Print a figure of yourself and plant it with a good vantage of the mill; surveying all your creation!

Thank you, glad you like it. I may put people in at a later date. I will need to revisit the area to apply the resin so maybe then, along with some scenery ‘moulding’ to blend in the unit with the surroundings.

Well I think you deserve a rest after this 2nd largest one to the station you have done, so all we want now is to see it in its place on the layout but very well done how you do all this and work as well is mind boggleing to me. That is a lovely model to go on the layout John. These things do take time to do well and you must have spent hours working out the designs for the 3D printing, the test pieces before producing the final prints and the card carcasses. The attention to detail, and the desire to be as faithful as you can to the original really does show through. It is going to be a real focus and a match for the Dinting viaduct. Its also a nice juxtaposition between the townscene of Piccadilly and the more rural look around Dinting and the Mill. Stephen

Hi John! I thought I was caught up, and there you go posting another video! Lol! What a brilliant build it has been! Your attention to detail has been fantastic! It may not be an exact representation, but it's pretty close, and gives a really nice flavour of the place! It'll look great on your excellent layout, and will give you some brilliant passing shots when you're filming! Sharing the details of the build has been really generous of you, and has given me a bundle of ideas that I'm sure I'll use going forward! Thank you! I'm looking forward to the next build already! :) All the best, Ian.
