Ashes of the Sun is one of my favourite series of all time! These books had me laughing out loud at time so I’m hoping Django Wexler’s other book will be just as great. I almost forgot about it, so thank you for putting it back on my radar 😊

That is great to hear!!! I can't wait to dive into Wexlers works. I think both of them sound fantastic. Who knows maybe they will become a new favorite author throughout the month! I hope you enjoy continuing with Wexler's works as well!

I'm really excited for it. I struggle with nonfiction keeping my focus, but I think this one is going to keep me turning pages!

Dark lord sounds so fun. Long Live Evil: A Story for Anyone Who's Ever Fallen for the Villain by Sarah Rees Brennan is a similar sounding that sounds fun as well. The Sarah Rees Brennan book is out in August and is a romantic fantasy

Added to my TBR! It allows her to enter her favorite fantasy series!!! Say no more!

I enjoyed The Wager. It reads more like a story than many nonfiction do.
    Love Lady Trent!
The "Dark Lord" title has me giggling.
I DNF'd 3 of the other books on your TBR🤭 But, I doubt I am the majority in any of those DNFs!

That's great to hear! I avoid nonfiction most of the time as it doesn't hold my attention. However, I have found some in the past year that are amazing. Can't wait to get to it.
      Yay! Lady Trent!
And yes, I was chuckling at the title too. I hope it lives up to it!
Oh no! Well we will find out I suppose. I'll keep you updated if I end up DNFing or not enjoying my reads!

How to become the Dark Lord sounds like a lot of fun, though whether comedy lands can be touch and go, so I'll wait to hear what you make of it. That first 10% of Empire of Exiles seems pretty interesting, too. I'll keep an eye out for it.
I hope you enjoy The Wager. It's gripping in parts. I though The Poppy War and Malice were OK, but I haven't continued either series. Malice is very traditional and straightforward (not a good thing, for me), with POVs changing every few pages. There's a lot of battles and a 'twist' which is fairly obvious. It's a quick read, though. The Poppy War stars off with a YA magic academy feel then gets very dark as it gets influenced by Japanese atrocities from WWII. I still need to read City of Blades. I really liked the first book, so I don't know what's stopping me.
I'm looking forward to reading Northern Wrath, a Viking inspired fantasy with strong Norse mythology influences. I'll also be listening to Stranger Times 4. Book 2 was better than book 1 (which I really liked) because most of the character set up is out of the way. Book 3 I didn't love to begin with because it was overdoing the aspects I find less funny, but then it got really interesting, we got a few answers and there were a lot of laugh out loud moments.
I hope you enjoy all your books!

I started the Dark Lord today. I'm at 10% and I like it. The main character breaks the fourth wall in order to explain some of what is going on, which I have found amusing. She is very crass and you can tell that her circumstances have left her a little bit without filter. I haven't progressed much with Engines of Exile, but I'll keep you updated.
Out of all of the books on my TBR I do think that Malice and The Poppy War are the most likely for me not to enjoy. I started Malice a couple of months ago (I didn't read very far), but I was having trouble holding on to the characters and thought that I might just need to pick it up at a different date. So we shall see. The Poppy War, I have heard gets pretty dark. Good to know where the influence comes from.
I'm hoping City of Blades is fantastic as I really like the character it is focused around! If you get to it, let me know your thoughts.
Adding Northern Wrath to my TBR. I enjoy Norse mythology. And AHHH!! I can't believe you are on Book 4 for Stranger Times. I still haven't gotten to book 2 and I'm mad at myself about it. I'm glad that you are really enjoying the series. I can't wait to get back to it!!!
      Happy Reading!

The Dark Lord book sounds really fun. Empire of Exiles sounds really good too. Malice! I have a different series by Robert J Bennett I left in Mpls. I'll read this summer.
I have two books left in the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne. Good luck with your books! 🤞

Thanks Cliff! Ya. Dragon Scholar definitely sounds more sophisticated! 🤣 That is why The Poppy War is a bit of a scary read for me, but we shall see.

I keep rolling over Ashes of the Sun. I think I'll really enjoy it, but keep hoping to have good concentration/energy when I tackle it, and that keeps not happening.
I've been thinking about joining Nicole's Poppy War readalong (end of June through mid-August) but concerned I may not be able to manage it.
So many good books here! A bunch are on my TBR in some form (maybe the earlier book in the series). So many great books, not enough time!

    • @Danni.Dabbles
      @Danni.Dabbles  Před měsícem

I totally get that. I've had it checked out for nearly 2 months and I just keep not picking it up. I am excited for it, but my brain just keeps procrastinating.
The Poppy War definitely has me a bit concerned. I might have to join Nicole's readalong as well, but as a silent participant as I won't be able to share my thoughts. However, I think having others to read it with might be the way to go.
I know right! I'll let you know if any of them are must reads! Lol!
