This is actually more of what I like in a car channel. Doug hit some kind of weird niche I didn’t know I was in to….and has been endlessly imitated but never duplicated. I just like these new developments.
Keenan is to Cars and Bids what James May was to Top gear. More technical and calm than the other two but still having his own personality. Doug would be Clarkson and Alanis Hammond.
Kennan's starting to get more comfortable on camera and it shows; I'm starting to cotton to *his* style. It's not as animated as Doug's, but that's OK. In any case, I love that the first few example shots of a DB7 they show are of Hoovie's DB7 that he had :)
For aftermarket rims, those are INCREDIBLY well chosen. I can't recall how many times I see wheels on a supercar that don't belong. this set does, combined with the stance and this owner has managed to actually modify the look of their aston while emphasizing its beautiful design.
Kennan, the improvement in your delivery between this and your early videos is impressive! Good job. I really enjoyed this deep dive. Especially because I'd like to own one in the near future. Thanks!
We're starting to see some more personality and comfortability from Kennan behind the camera, and it makes me happy to see. Love the vids, keep it up folks.
My family has had 2 of these in the last 3 years because one of our family friends wrapped our first one around a tree. This is a very interesting video because although I’ve done plenty of research I learnt so much about the car. Thanks man
I bought my DB9 3 years ago now, and although it took a little while for me to bond with the car, it is now a firm favourite. Beautiful to look at, a super smooth V12 engine, lovely cabin and great value in the current market. Don't let the DB9 become one of those cars you wish you had purchased before the price rocketed (just as you knew it would) in value.
I could be mistaken. And it doesn’t matter. However I was under the impression that the real reason why it wasn’t the DB8 was Aston didn’t want people to mistake it as a 8 cylinder car as it never was, it was always the N.A. 6.0 (5.9) V12. And yeah it’s based on ford v6 blah blah blah.
10:15 that's the wrong way round. An auto suits city & stop start driving whereas continent crushing lends itself to manuals because you want the drama off the beaten paths and on long high speed main roads the gearbox makes no difference bc you'll barely even need one at all.
beautiful car except the front grill that came from the cat walk flooring in the ford factory where they welded 2 duratec V6's together. changing the heads and cylinder liners isn't exactly a major transformation
I always considered getting a DB9 or Vantage. Even though it doesn't have the same prestige as an AM I went with a 2014 Jag XKR. Very similar look inside and out as the AM... but more power and not the same cost to maintain... I know I know.. its a Jag so its still expensive to maintain and has its own rep for reliability.. but the AM is much more to maintain and even less reliable. My car had 510hp and modestly computer tuned it with SC pulley upgrade to 650hp. Its a blast to drive.
@carsandbids most definitely. In my opinion that body style is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Those lines are timeless... I definitely prefer the headlights and tailights of the AM over the Jag... those were perfection for those body lines
Great job, Kennan. I trust Doug that you’ll be a valuable addition to his channel(s), and this was a really good review & also came at some stuff from different angles than Doug which is fun
I'm surprised you like the auto. I detest autos even in bumper to bumper traffic. The manual is a big selling point for me on these. Also, is it not a 7 speed?
Pretty sure it's a 6 speed. Aston didn't introduce the 7 speed on the Vantage (my frame of reference) until the S in 2010, and then only in the paddle shift cars. I think you had to go a few years later to find the dogleg 7 speed with an actual shifter.
Great video, I love your take both on history and some important technical quirks of this vehicle (like the engine). But if you want to drive an automatic car from now on, do not put it in neutral at traffic lighs or other short stops, it's bad for the transmission. Just keep it in D or 1 st and keep your foot on the brake.
Yes, the cars are for sale, is that a bad thing? Ultimately, we want to bring some interesting information to the car space and spread some joy with enthusiasts.

I was hesitant at first & I said so but now I think Kennan is really coming into his own!!! 👍👍
I've always wanted a DB9 also, beautiful car
Well....it is for sale..... :)
I think you made a mistake on the DB7 being based off of the XK8 it shares a lot with the XJ-S even the convertible top has the same operation
I'm pretty sure the first gen XK8 still had a lot of XJS in it.

In my humble opinion, I think the Aston Martin DB9 is the most beautiful car of the 21st century…so far.
