If you point at something (like the chickens in this video), it's not rude because it helps the staff to get the right chicken for you 👍

Actually pointing by index finger towards an object or product is fine. .. most of them didn't mind because it's a better indication of pointing at something that you want to purchase.

    Hai chaimaru chan and husband
That's was my favorite place to eat nasi kukus. It was the best nasi kukus in KL, not many seller serve that hot pineapple on their nasi kukus.
Nasi kukus means steam rice, they just used regular rise but they steamed.
Nasi kukus originally from Kelantan state.
Other nasi dish from Kelantan was
    Nasi kerabu
    Nasi kak wok
😂 That all I can remember right now
    😂😂😂
    I thought I have more
The way you guys hold rice it quite perfect
Then put you finger at your lips, them push the rice using your thumb
Don't put your finger inside your mouth, I make you to open more

the pointing using finger,if it's about wanting the food you wanted, its not rude, just normal..oh man,one of the reason we speak twice the word like boleh boleh -can can ,sometimes afraid the other person didnt hear the 1st time,so saying again hence boleh boleh/can can, to really make sure the other person understood it..or just nod ur head (if its loud) 2x up down as a symbol for yes..
oh ya,the fish cracker is like papadom (the thing eat with nasi kandar) to the nasi kukus ,so while eating,u also having it as side dish to eat it...

6:08 "He wants to eat nasi kukus..."
You can always ask for a little bit of rice from the seller. "Boleh minta sedikit nasi untuk baby?".
But I'm not sure about this set up because the rice is already cupped before steaming.
Next time please don't hesitate to ask for a little rice, or even mee for Ichi-kun. We love children to be happy and contented while the parents eat. Sometimes staff will even hold or entertain the baby, or give a snack...

hi. just want to add some notes about pointing fingers. i think it's okay if you want to use your index finger if you want to point to directions, or objects, just not to point your fingers towards a human/man/woman/kid especially when your voice is high, then that's what we considered rude or provoking. nonetheless, it's also recommended to use thumb instead of index finger when you want to point to something. your hand should be doing the same like 'thumb up' gesture, just tilt your thumb to whatever direction you want to point. hope that's help! and it's lovely to see you enjoying malaysia's cuisine with your family

Hello there, if you like the nasi kukus but find the curry too spicy you can always ask for separate gravy. You can say " nak kuah asing" = i want separate gravy. So you cam mix the curry to the rice little by little so the spiciness of the gravy absorb by rice.. So less spicy for you too eat.. You also can ask for no chillies no sambal

Great video. Delicious. You don't have to use your hand if you like. Just use the spoon and fork. Its not tradition. Its your own option. 😅

Hi Chaimaru! I’m so glad you enjoyed the nasi kukus. The next time you want to try a dish at a stall or shop try doing this:
If the person is older lady call them ‘Kakak’ and if they are younger lady call them ‘Adik’.
If the person is older man call him ‘Abang’ and if they are younger boy call him ‘Adik’.
    Ask them..
Kakak/Abang/Adik… Apa nama makanan ini? : What is the name of this food/dish?
This is because I saw you wondering abount the ‘keropok’ which is fish crackers which is just yummy to be eaten with the nasi kukus. And cheap too! Hehe..
I hope you have more videos to come!! Take care and enjoy your Malaysia food ya!!
