- Diaphragmatic breathing is a great way to relax your nervous system, reduce blood pressure and lower your heart rate. It also strengthens your diaphragm and pelvic floor muscles. Stand up or tall or lay down on your back. Keep your mouth closed and inhale through your nose. Inhale into your belly and let it expand as big as possible. Exhale through the mouth.
