    Excellent! I love the notes in the music about the voicings. Definitely can get a lot more than just the tune out of this arrangement.

    Really lovely Kent. I was singing along at one point and then imagining myself sitting in a hotel lounge with a "Cosmopolitan " in my hand enjoying your beautiful playing. Thanks so much. I often sing this as it suits my voice and people request it.

      Thanks, Corinne, I've done those hotel lounge gigs...been there done that. The only one I do any more is the Ocean House in Watch Hill, RI...quite a place! Stop in some time!

    Amazing. No words or explinations needed. I was always having trouble in distinguising/knowing there was two (at least) ways of playing a song. Thanks!

    Kent, I’ve got this sheet music if your arrangement in my current rotation and just love it. I’ve heard a lot of versions of this song and I’m not exaggerating when I say I think it is more beautiful than the famous Erroll Garner version. Thank you!

      Lucas musicians develope their own sound through what excersizes they choose to practice and focus on. Guitarists I think are especially full of the own particular sound, since technical effects are so numerous (picking, plucking, hammer on, pull off, slides, bends). I agree that Kent has a well rounded sound. Pulling from all his knowledge while arranging or improving, his phrases flow nicely because he uses his techniques musically.

      Hey, Jon Streeter, agree about Kent’s playing; I doubt I could ever learn to play anything like he does so I just float away on it; i bought his jazz book, and love it; it’s my Musical Holy Bible!

      I probably should order one. I’ve diligently avoided learning to sight read. I play everything by ear, but I sure don’t sound like Kent.
      I have a few amateurish videos here on CZcams which I post for family and friends.
      I haven’t yet encountered a metronome that could keep up with me, and my chords are mine, not the right ones, but I play anyway.

    • @KentHewittpiano88
      @KentHewittpiano88  Před 6 lety

      I have the left hand notated the first version I played in this video. I don't have the left hand on all my free scores but many do have notes written out. Just check some other scores, and also my playlists on chords ...some deal with left hand techniques exclusively.

      Thanks! Btw I didn't say that to complain, sorry. Absolutely this is a wonderful performance and lovely arrangement :) I love all of your lessons! It's just that recently I've been tuning a piano with bad mechanics and it's pretty stressful to make it keep the tune... now every little note that "vibrates" too much makes me jump! Ahah

    Hey Kent, I was wondering what your thoughts would be on how to change the key from C13 flat 9 to C6/9 smoothly? Are there any progressions from the C13 b9 that lead to the C6/9?
    Thanks, god bless.

    • @KentHewittpiano88
      @KentHewittpiano88  Před 6 lety

      Anything's possible...if your ears like it. C7b9 most often moves to F major or Fm (or F7).C diminished could move directly to C69. Tones (or partials) tend to move chromatically up or down or stepwise. Try this progression: C7b9 - Fmaj9 - Db9 - C69. (A lot of chromatic moves there).

    This is like the dream I used to have when I find A
    18 wheeler truck full of thousand dollar bills
    And I can't take enough of it with me
    I usually end up not getting any money
    Trying to be so greedy
    By just handful handful at a time
    and come back and get some more
    The hARDest part is practicingSlowly emphasize ON accuracy
    That way I can retain the knowledgeEasier said than done
    Thanks again

      Practicing slowly is very important and gradually increasing the tempo over time to master a piece. I had to do this to play Part 1. Thank you!
