Nice, cream of banana meringue pie yellow. Love it. My mom had a '69 Buick Skylark that colour.
Not only do I keep scraps of sandpaper, I have piles of assorted sandpaper scraps strategically placed so that I never have to reach very far to grab some. That's what I tell myself to justify not cleaning up a mess. I rarely use the sandpaper scraps.
You're not the only one who keeps sticks and sand paper! The LPJ is coming together. I'm digging the formula you're using. It looks like a lot of work, but I suspect its going to pay off.
Cool video and beautiful guitar! I love that you're going with the diamond plate for the cavity cover and that yellow looks absolutely fantastic. Keep up the great work, Dane!
Love the colour Dane, looks pretty authentic to my untrained eye! And yep, I also hoard old sandpaper, I have a drawer full of the stuff.
A drawer, dah! Thanks Mick. I do have a spot I try to keep it in but it always migrates.
I have form with junk too Dane- big style, but I've generally regularly regretted the odd things that I've occasionalyy trashed. As for the paint job- finishing is a black art to me, though I can still acknowledge the quality of the video.
I chuck out all the old sandpaper immediately but I do love a good rag bag! Cheers Dane
Robin you’ve got one habit under control. I also love a good rag bag and I have an extra box full as well.
Looking good Dane. I've always said that it takes at least as long on the finish as it does to build the guitar.
You are not wrong when it comes to solid bodies. Thanks for checking in Billy.
I'm so tired of saving pieces of sand paper and little wood scraps... but I bet I won't stop doing it. Why do I keep this stuff? That color is fantastic. Great video Dane!
Glad to hearing their color looks good from folks that are familiar with the old LPJs. As soon as you toss that scrap you'll be digging out of the trash!
Looking good Dane!. I suffer from the same affliction concerning sandpaper and wood cut offs! I used the Oxford grain fill on my Rebel SC (LP Jr copy) and really liked how it worked and will definitely use it again.
Thanks Bill, I’m sure it fill’s better on raw wood. I’ll find out on my acoustics.
LOL debris field…love it
Ashamed to say that's the most normal look around my shop. Thanks for stopping by James.
I have to keep the bits of wood but junk old sandpaper. Great video, thanks.
Apparently I have to keep it all until there's a landslide. Thanks fregg.
I love seeing a craftsman at work Dane. Finishing is not my forte! Your shop is actually pretty neat compared to my setup. You know you have a problem when your shoes get trapped and pull off your feet!
I was just commenting on another YT channel that finishing is a completely different skill set than woodworking. I have had my shoe pulled off between pallets in my work warehouse. But not in my shop so I guess I'm still good. Thanks for chiming in Steve. Always appreciated.
Nope, you’re not the only one. I have random pieces of sandpaper, tiny acrylic off-cuts and just about anything else that might remotely be useable! 😂
I guess it just one of the dangers of shop life. Thanks for hanging out Jag.
What a mess....👍 You should see mine..lol I save everything
You know if you tidy up you wont be able to find anything lol
I think the hoarding bits of sandpaper and wood is an age thing, I do it too!
Your plumbing is on point
Guitar is looking good buddy
Hey Neil, yep that is usually the case. I love your shop. Where like soul mates of chaos.
@@jonahguitarguy Try and keep the chaos on the outside of the head! 🤣
that's going to be a sweet guitar! and nope you're not the only one, I save EVERYTHING! and sure enough times come when I need one of those pieces. cheers Dane! btw what do you use for grain filling? to this day I've never found anything I really like that works the way its supposed to. ok oxford, I commented before I got to the end of the video lol
Thanks for dropping by Randy. The grain filler is the Oxford oil based. I got it with other things I bought and thought I'd give it try. I think it worded very well and I'm looking forward to doing the acoustics with it. Whatever you do don't waste your time with the AquaCoat.
@@jonahguitarguy thanks Dane! you're the second or third person that told me not even try with AquaCoat.
That’s looking really good Dane, I love the colour!👍
Thanks very much Gino. Appreciate you my friend.
