    We run a massey ferguson on our farm .We have a 5475 and like you say it is one very fine tractor we love it 2485 hrs not a problem at all. I also have 1105 that's been here since new and its been a great tractor too.We do have a 5075E john deere and wont talk about that pile a whole lot .IT wasn't red and I shouldn't have bought it but we all make bad decsions I guess

    Great review! I just bought a 2012 5455 with a 946 front loader today! Man I've been running around after dark playing with this beast. Boy I tell you this thing is a caddy! Got 2000 hrs on it well taken care of. Not a scratch. I really like this Dyna 4 stuff too.

    I have a 06' 5460. It's never missed a day of work. Rock solid tractor. I have twelve other Masseys and looking to buy another.

    Great video. We have an "06 5460 Dyna 4, works great and has been trouble free. Hasn't been down one day in 13 years. Perfect weight to power ratio. Dyna 4 is awesome, only thing about it is we need to have it calibrated by the dealer every 800 hrs or so, but not really a big deal.

    I love masseys. I bought the first 5445 open station massey brought into the country in Feburary 2004. It had transmission problems from day one. It was loaded with every option available. Tried 5 different dealers and it never got resolved. It has been traded to a dealer in Illinois. It is on fastline. Check it out. It has about 1500 hours on it. I still loved masseys. I bought 2 more afterwards. Please avoid that tractor.

    Got a 5455 here, had it for 12 years now 6500 hours ,but its had it's fair share of problems, from annoying things like oil pipes blowing, and oil cooler radiator going, to the cylinder head blowing and needing a new front diff because previous owner didn't grease the pivot point enough! And don't mention electrical problems!! Still like it enough to have bought a 5713sl last year

    I'm a Deere guy, but I will say the Massey's and Challengers were rock solid in the mid-00's. We have a Challenger MT555b which is just a yellow Massey, and that Cat / Perkins engine and transmission is a solid power train. It seems like Agco went downhill when they dropped Perkins and went to the Cissu engine. We traded our Deere 6400 in on a Massey 5612 in 2015, and it has been nothing but problems for the last two years. The AC fan only runs at top speed, the PTO only works at certain times, and the engine always derates and shows a fuel code when we're cutting hay. It's all of the things I had originally disliked about the Challenger, and none of the good that I had come to appreciate. Never upgrade from the 5460, because it's really a downgrade.

    We have a 6180 and I love it. I hadn’t really been on many Massey’s until we got it and it’s awesome. Plenty of power and weight and built like a tank. I haven’t seen a three point and front axle built as well as this thing. It’s 2wd though.

      I have one too. 1997, with 8400 hours on it. 4wd, front 3-point hitch (only for weight in the winter when we don't use the loader (because it leaks and we detach it)) and loader. Great tractor, the only problem are the electronics (not nearly as bad as Case IH though). Especially the reverse shuttle, that thing is a pain in the ass. We had to make some changes because it sometimes didn't want to shift to reverse.

    Stains are from the original radio had a lip around the outside and the stain could be from dust or moisture built up behind the lip

    Very nice tractor 🚜 and review. Good video man. I like Massey equally to kubota only reason I have kubota and I mean only is the katac insurance from kubota and there financing has always beat Massey. One of these years you will see me in my own red tractor. Probably never in green but never sis a long time.

    Gonna go look at an AGCO LT90A possibly. 2100 hours and has the Dyna 4. Cab seems to be identical to your 5400

    We have a '04 5445. Worst tractor we have had so far. High fuel consumption, is made of plastic, fiberglass and other weak materials. It has gotten broken to the point where we have paid a total of over 10k usd in repairs on it now. The other tractor we have is a finnish valmet. Bulletproof, made of steel, robust and can handle hours. I recommend the valmet and valtras from the 80's-the 90's.

      Could you give more details about the Massey? I'm thinking of buying something similar. Another option is Deutz-Fahr 5105.4g from 2015 with 1900 hour and 600 hours on the engine. We have a 6180 from 1997 with 8400 hours. 125 hp. Almost bulletproof, great power, great fuel economy. We can pull machines designed for 180 hp. Slower, of coarse, but still going steady. The only downside is the bad electronics. Not as bad as Case IH though.

    Those stains are probably caused by air-con drain lines being blocked at some time, possibly when it was new ?

  • @Zomsky
    @Zomsky Před 6 lety

    the mystery MF hood lining stains! In the late 90s we had a 3085 that we had from new, never had any leaks in the roof. it has the same stains around the radio and speakers. could never work it out. Only thing I could think of was that it got moist up there when the heater was running, as the holes around the radio let some air out??? still remember trying to scrub the things when selling it!

    The rear tires don't really look like they are out all the way. Looks like they would go wider if you swapped sides with them.

    • @BagwellFarms
      @BagwellFarms  Před 6 lety

      Weston Gray their not the fronts are all the way out an the rears can be flipped to make it wider it’s already 8ft wide like it is an I haul it all the time so I don’t really want to go any wider
