    There are a lot of things in this world that people often forget - names, faces, places and so on. But the one thing people rarely forget is kindness and how you made them feel. Especially during tough times in their lives.
    Those intellectually challenged individuals remembering you in a positive light despite their obvious mental disadvantage, speaks volumes of your character David. That is something to be proud of.
    And kids really can be a blank slate with little internal biases.

    Loved the episode! I was a very quiet when I was younger so I couldn't developed speaking whether it was english or my native language. It was very broken english. So I was kind of in special ed during elementary school. I had a reading specialist from 2nd grade till 5th grade and had speech therapy from 2nd grade till high school. I felt embarrassed going to them because what would my peers think but in the end it was very helpful. Now I can't shut the fuck up hahaha. Thanks for the discussion in the episode! Take care guys!

    Definitely agree about working smart over just working hard. I tell people all the time that most successful people always say work hard but what they dont tell you is that you also need to work smart. I see my friends working wayy harder than me but i tell them you also have to take a step back and think. Working hard can only get you so far, but working smart is limitless and saves you time. Found out about this when i was 20, now im 25 trying to build a business working hard but smarter, thanks for bringing that up David, big ups to you teaching your audience life lessons.

    The controversy with Bruce's depiction in Once Upon A Hollywood was how the director, Quintin Tarantino, was telling Sharon Lee and all of Bruce Lee's family and friends that what they knew of Bruce Lee isn't the "correct" depiction of Bruce Lee and that HIS "vision" of him, was more accurate.

    This also reminds me of a documentary that might be on Netflix that was about people whose lives centered around water. One episode (I think the first) was about this woman who would swim in the ocean with a spear to catch fish. She would also fend off sharks, too. I wish I remembered the name, but I cannot find it.
    There are a few clips of Hasanabi reacting to ocean-related and fish-related things and a lot of it is freaky. I don't know what the original videos were called (too lazy to look it up), but I know Hasan reacted to them.

    Hang on, for a counter on the working hard thing. My mom worked for this health insurance company, offered at least a dozen ideas that ended up saving the company money, all of which they adopted (updating systems, changing procedure to reduce waste, streamlining admin processes, etc.) And they wouldn't give her a standing desk she requested with doctors notes saying she needs it...
    Went as far as to fight a legal battle over it (my mom couldn't afford to bring it to court so she had to just report it and quit)

    Really liked the work smart talk. Held a shit ton of jobs (jobs I didn't care about) Stayed the most of 3 years, but never really tried to make myself better, wasn't trying to, but I do need to be more assertive, figure out whatI really want to do and how I can go about it
    Always knew there was WORK being done with successful people, I just need to not be so scared to put in the hours of something I might want to do, I just gotta make myself uncofortable
    Like some serious hours, not 1-2
    I need a job where I can bounce around and do different things, but love it. I think thats why film always seems dope, I can be behind the camera doing so many different things, or learn a thing or two of something, just get the basic idea
    Never understood why people solely based on others successes as luck, like just pure luck. No.

  • @BulagBanditMedia
    @BulagBanditMedia Před 3 lety +3

    I think there is such a thing as luck, but its not as simple as David says it is. Generational wealth and community resources are things when people are born can’t get the luck of the draw in. David telling stories about family friends is a prime example even though his family (based on what I know) wasn’t necessarily wealthy. That in itself is a privilege that people don’t get. Being in America to have the choice in labor is a privilege. The ability of people to work hard is stifled given the difference of experience. I’m not being a David hater or whatever, this is just fair criticism. It’s good that he owns businesses that provide food in the community, but opportunities like those are rare and there obstacles to wealth and success beyond the control of the layman as a result of the way our society works in capitalism.

I can't remember the name of it, but it's a jellyfish that lives 15k feet in the ocean it has tentacles about 23 freaking feet long that they drag across the ocean floor and grab whatever they brush against. I can't agree with your luck thing. So you're saying if 50 people showed up to an audition for 1 role, whoever wins that audition is clearly a better actor than other 5 who were very close to getting it?

    • @DavidSoComedy
      @DavidSoComedy  Před 3 lety

      That’s not how auditions work LOL. You gotta use better examples.
      People aren’t picked for roles based on the better actor only. You’re proving my point. This is evident of how you listen so let me break this down further.
      The point I made is that LUCK is not the ONLY determining factor but to be dismissive of everything else is ridiculous. LUCK plays a small part to a bigger picture.
      Booking a role isn’t BASED on ONLY being a good actor.
      Network.
      Connections.
      Do you fit the look.
      Did you show casting directors something new they haven’t seen.
      What’s your resume.
      Do you have value to add or the productions
      The list goes on. You shouldn’t use examples from industries you don’t know about LOL. So no... it’s not just luck.

    • @SeungJeonFL
      @SeungJeonFL Před 3 lety

      @@DavidSoComedy well, I have personally auditioned many times. I'm not trying to be an actor, but I do play classical music. So I have traveled all over the country to take many auditions. I understand acting industries audition could be different, but I bet you it's not that different. After all, hundreds of people show up for one job. Right? Anyway, I agree with your "luck is not the only determining factor" but I wanted to say, for the top 5 percent of the people who were at the audition, the luck does play a huge part. Because for them, it comes down to if you had a shitty morning that day vs everything before your audition went perfectly, and your mind is 100 percent ready. Something you cant control the day of the audition stuff. Because if you're that close, you best believe you're damn good at what you're doing.
