  • York experience frequent flooding, and has done for many, many years.
    High water levels will always be an issue in York, and flooding to some degree can't be stopped, but the strategies used in York can protect hundreds of properties and businesses on order to keep the city running.
    This video will show the flood management strategies that have been used in York to help protect it.

    Would you say that the management schemes implemented by the region have by in large been successful ? id like to know about

      Overall yes. The multi-strategy approach has certainly helped keep large areas free from floodwater. Although some localised flooding certainly occurs, without the different flood prevention measures, much more of York would be affected on a regular basis.
