- What was once 300 acres of coffee and cardamom fields in India’s Southern Ghats is now lush native forest, all thanks to the hard work and dedication of Pamela Gale Malhotra and her husband Anil. The couple started India’s first private wildlife sanctuary, SAI sanctuary, and for the past two decades they have been nursing the land back to life. Here’s how they did it.

Life in a dirty tank

I wish there was more people like this
But these people only do little for the world. Such passion is needed in the big citys. There are the problems.
Dominik Wusa actually large dense cities are not bad, its the towns surrounding it that contribute to most of the energy use and gas emmisions. Living in a compact city forces people to live a little greener by using less water and electricity. everything is closer to each other so there's less distance a car has to travel. the amount of land a city takes is less than rural areas, allowing for less deforestation, leaving the areas it doesn't take up unharmed
Sounds like you have a point there.
Voldermort BUTT
Not disagreeing with you or anything, just wondering: why do cities tend to have so much smog around them, then? Is it because all the traveling & the high populations are condensed to that one area?
we can be these people :)
Imagine how beautiful the whole world would be if we cared about the animals and the earth
I know right
By not doing so, we got the coronavirus
i love you random person
I love nature but I scared at small creatures like worm 😰
That would be amazing and incredible
People like these 2 deserve to exist on planet Earth.
Lots of Respect.
True Inspiration.
These are the kind of people that should lead world superpowers
not at all
hmmm yeah, let's let the plant people rule our country
Mathew Stopka Better than trump
they would legalize weed though
They usually don't have interest in politics
Wow why can't everyone have this kind of love and respect for nature seriously
How in the world do you guys find these incredible people?
Benjamin Johnson they follow news networks that shows positive development in each country
Welcome to bharat 🇮🇳🙏🕉
I'm so glad that people are saving the rainforest
if i am a billionaire i will do this 😍😍😍
ill buy lands just to plant trees and protect wild life... this is goals thank you madam 😍😍😍😍
i hope you can be billionaire really soon...😄
Same here. I would plant rainforests with some tree farms.
Till then enjoy, or turn a 100 sqft in to a garden or grow your veggies in your balcony instead of decorative flowers
That's one of the main reasons I want to be rich, plant my own forests across the world, make a differencec for everyone and sue any logging company that dare touches it for everything they have.
Dear aspirants.....here I would like to recall on quote....."if you don't write when you don't have time, you wont write when you have time"..... everything thing starts with a single step.to plant a tree/protect animals,u need not to be billionaire....try to do something as u can.......much love from kerala(india)...
Wow, what the two of you have done is incredible achievement.
If the world had more people like you, we would have a more amazing world to live in.
Thank you so much for what you have done for our environment, the wildlife and our planet!!
you are not crazy.. the people who told you that are not only crazy but also stupid to highest level.. keep it up u inspire us to be aware and take care nature.
Wow... They are absolutely my inspiration! I also have a dream to restore Borneo rainforest. It was a sickening experience when I saw clear sky turns gray, burned leaves drops from the sky, and the locals told you that it's the time when people start to open new fields for palm oil. Even kids were amused to see raging fire and parents didn't prohibit kids to get closer. I could not avoid to breath smoke before it extinguished.
The main problem is a severe drop in raw rubber prices and oil palm seems more promising, because the locals will get paid by palm oil company for each tons of it. Some issue told that Indonesian raw rubber is bad. Affluent landowner would start turn their rubber plantations into oil palm plantations, buy one to two trucks, and employ young men who could not get a better job outside the village because of low education and skills.
I remembered an elder asked me, "Do you mind if some men follow you home untill they get a job?"
I could send you photos of burned forest so you could believe my experiences.
And somehow the cactus I got for my birthday died....
How did it die?
Jay-M I feel ya man I feel ya
I think I watered it, then it drowned.
I probably am an idiot, I don't really have the green thumb.
Lol its alright, cacti don't need much water. At least you'll know next time ^^
People like this should get subsidized. They shouldn't lead world superpowers, but they deserve to get the money they need without having to bring much of their own. There should be an industry around rebuilding this kind of environmental damage in the first place.
We need to make jobs that promote building up the environment rather building miles of concrete structures
Ichthusk Fantastic idea.
Agreed.
I support whole heartedly....if it weren't for such people, there would be very little time for others on this earth.
Great Work Pamela and Anil. Proud to have you guys in our India, Karnataka. Basically I'm also from Karnataka. Love this Channel.♥
If you are able to do something like this, then you have it all. Beautiful.
These are the real relationship goals ❤️
Thank you so much both of you.

These People are true heros
this restored my faith in humanity
We need more people like these couples
"I've never felt this kind of joy in anything else that I've done in my life" these words were really pleasing after their mammoth work.
Free, kind, and humble. They are really great people doing something very helpful. I don't think that can be called crazy. Maybe in a good way.
The sad part is, even though this is amazing, pretty soon people are going to cut it down like how the Amazon Rainforest is pretty much the Amazon Desert
its a sanctuary .___.
Won't be for long .___.
CJ Fripp Think that, you mean? But he's right anyway. It could happen. Maybe when we overpopulate too much.
LunarSkyWolf7 well the concentrate on the solution instead of focusing on something that hasn't even happened yet
Shaury Gautam the amazon rainforest isn't gone. It's mostly there.
Shake my head there's people out here reviving a rainforest and I can't even revive my grades.
em ! You’re right! I’m not in college studying for my IT degree
@@DerpxGames how’s it going right now?

Beautiful souls like these are very few in the world.People rarely think about forests and the calm it provides.
God bless them, so amazing what they have accomplished! Bringing back so much life to decimated places.

ನಾವು ಇದೀವಿ ಪ 😑 , nangu gottilrlilla bro
wow wish our president have that kind of passion.
Well, he The US isn't facing issues like deforestation at the scale of these countries. It should be the countries that face these problems who solve them
we may or may not need a rain forest, i just want a president that cares not one trying to impress his rich friends
thu350 America first Nature second
TrumpCorp. Nature is a part of America. It is what makes our country beautiful, thus great.
Sarah Chen since nature is part of America and America is part of nature, nature first too

Love what you guys are doing!!!! Promoting sustainable development and all!! Very inspired to make more videos like these on my channel!
I really wanted, want and will do something like this before I die...........bless this couple!!!!
It's positive yet willing to mention real problems all the time, that's why it's extremely relevant because it shows real humans dealing with issues on the side of actions, commitment, rather than fantasizing about the possibilities in theory. Great to use as teaching material. Love, love, love.
Wow. Alive with natural sound. Beautiful. Artistic. Necessary. Important.
Beautiful! Thank you to your wonderful people.
That's awesome, what an achievement
fantastic.. i think alot of people would like to be doing what you do.
HEartwarming. A true role models to follow doing things that really matter, not just people who post vanity on social media.
This is truly amazing..
Great, smart and generous people - in India of all places. I would not have thought this could happen there (and rarely anywhere else today).
Teddy Tretyakov-badkov In “India of all places”, really? Do you live there and know the culture there. People are a lot more giving of what little they have than most where I live in the U.S.. it’s a terribly condescending statement you make. The number of acres of forest PER CAPITA we have destroyed in the US far surpasses most countries.
yeah '' in india of all places " .. that was bit rude man . search " chipko andolan " to brodan your horizon
Excuse me what do you mean by “India or all places” please learn to stay away from stupid stereotypes you heard without ever being nor experiencing the country
@@MGN01 Yes, India of ALL places. I have been to India and it has to be the leading example of how NOT to treat Mother Earth.. It is also famously the nation that gave 'dirt' a bad name!
@@herodotus1601 I have visited 53 countries - many multiple times, many developing nations. Few nations wallow in the awful filth and primitive & violent social rules and conditions of India.
Such an amazing story.
Plants and animals bring so much positive energy into your surrounding! It is extremely hard to imagine life without them. I just wish that in my lifetime, I could do the same... God BLESS YOU! :)
World needs this kind of people
People like this is true inspiration
You should be very proud. An important accomplishment few can say they have done
You are amazing! Thank you.
I sure as hell hope the couple extensively documented their work, because the whole world is gonna need those notes.
god bless your hands ..............its amazing when i see it , i feel chilled thinking of your project.

U guys r real heroes... Hats off ❤️

These people are truly crazy. I hope they keep it up!
Beautiful work!
That is more than life achievement the best gift you can give to mother earth, creating a forest that is something.
Not all heroes wear capes
Yes! Great Big Story has finally passed 500,000 subscribers.
Looking at this makes me feels so happy
I am sor proud to see such bright knowledgable people in india. it gives me hope that all is not that bad. i hope people can follow the example to restore the land the subcontienent back to its original forest state. i hope it happens as we were the land of forest and rivers. not plains.
Wow what a story ❤️excellent! 👍
I would go there to observe the animals I would love to go there if everyone saved 300 acres of Earth there would be no pollution
Stas Hutten-Czapski everyone needs money like them
Beautiful--there needs to be more people like this
You can start whit yourself
so inspiring
Great story. I have tried to do something similar in a micro area in Minnesota. It used to be a 1/3 acre of lawn in the middle of town. It is now a growing little forest, full of birds and native bees (no, not honey bees they are European, although they do show up). Many of the small trees have shown up on their own and the native plants I planted are expanding and birds are bring in more seeds. It looks nothing like before. I did get permission from the town, in 2005, because I knew some people would complain and they did.
It just shows that we can achieve mountains of hurdles if we truly want to achieve something from the heart!! We can't only cut forests but make them too I want to do this in future and hope whoever watches this takes initiative
This is so inspiring , see that we can help heal the earth.
So much green and organic love to both of you..❤❤
Thanks for sharing!
they should make a documentary about this to raise the awareness
we defenitely NEED more poeple like her
