    My grandfather had one of these pickers in the late 50s/early 60s, on our WD45. Picked our corn plus 3 or 4 neighbors' corn.

    We started farming in 1862, I’m the seventh generation and last in sacramento ca. I love to see people using and keeping alive equipment and knowledge of the instruments used by previous generations. It’s American history and legacy. Greatly enjoyed your video and look forward to more.

    My uncle had a 1-row mounted picker (snapper) on a Farmall C. Wasn't enough power to pull a loaded wagon and picker on Western Pennsylvania hills. We used it only once because of how difficult it was to hook-up. Love your set-up!

    And you could set your planter to match your picker. Loved hearing that magneto snapping while cranking ! Nice set-up y'all have there !

    Definite better product picked when a husking bed and fan were added. Without power steering that picker would have been a tiring all day affair. Way better than doing it by hand though.

    Back in early 60’s we had a WD with a (I think) Gleaner corn picker. Wasn’t AC brand. After corn picking was done, we had a snow storm. The picker was still on the tractor. So, my dad used it to push the snow off of the 1/4 mile long gravel driveway. Oh those were the good old days!

    NICE! Dad had one of those pickers on a WD. It was too fast so he slipped the hand clutch all day long, made it smoke it got so hot.

    I always enjoy watching this video every year. I’ve got the same picker that I put on my wd every year. I Pick roughly 10 acres every year. Your missing the top part of your shoot? Blower fans are nice but will make you go deaf.

    Just wondering, why don't you put a muffler on the tractor. I'm sure you could get one from the factory.

    • @dylanbywater9955
      @dylanbywater9955 Před rokem

      That's how distillate fuel models came from the factory. Gasoline only tractors came with a straight stack and muffler out the top, but distillate have that pinched pipe on the side.

      @@dylanbywater9955 I know a lot of older farmers who would run a Stright pipe on their tractor, now they are very hard-of-hearing (Almost Deaf). I've found buying a muffler is worth hearing for a long time to come.
