    I 100% went to two strokes because of fuel injection. I was 4t-for-life prior to TPI, because I HATED having to pull the carb to rejet all the time.

    I just bought my first 2 stroke in almost 4 decades - 250 XC-W. I wanted FI and no oil mixing, otherwise I would have just bought another 4 stroke. I love pulling up to the gas station with my bike on my motorcycle carrier, and then fueling up both the car and the bike at the same time, and not having to monkey with a fuel can in the car.

    I decided to go with 2023 TPI husky instead of TBI, because when I saw that 95% of elements are new I thought, great, so I am going to be testing if 95% of the bike works correctly.

      You'll be fine. I love my TPI. I have 150 hours and only had to replace a CCP sensor which was about 45 bucks. Is TBI better? Probably....but I'm not going to keep forking over 15K every time a new KTM comes out....its ridiculous. For your average rider TPI works great. Super smooth...

    First off, i love the content about these 2 smokers. Had an 05 KX back in the day and although it might not have been tuned perfectly, I still feel it ripped and loved racing it until my accident. Carburator, didn't bother me, Mixing didn't bother me, but losing the strength in my legs and not physically being able to kick start anymore is why 13 years after my accident I purchased the KTM 300. If Kawi made an electric start KX 250, i'd buy another one. Just love them 2 strokes.👍

    You are soooo right about mixing fuel... I had a cr 250 2 stoke 1999 and a kx125 2 strokes... yes its "fun" the mixture process, but its a lot funnier not to bring your measuring cup and I hated seeing my buddies on a 4 stroke waiting for me loll. Tomorrow I'm picking up a 2024 husqvarna 150 TE for my wife and maybe 2 weeks after my 2024 ktm xc-w 300! It will be my first fuel injected bike!! So cant wait to see the improvement on those bike!

    What you said about people moving to four strokes from two strokes because of the tuning being a barrier of entry, is exactly why electric is going to dominate this space.

    My 2018 ktm 250 xcw carb model with jd jetting kit in it runs flawless all year around from -5 to +30. I set the jet once and never touch it again. From comparing with friend it still has more power than any stock tpi 250 bike.
    Maybe not tbi injection tho…

    You mentioned the words big bore referring to the 300's. What I read was that KTM has a plan for a big bore next year which will be a 390, which sounds good because a 300 has limited power compared to a real big bore.

    What you didn't mention is that the lean condition on the Tpi made the engines run hot and destroyed a lot of topends. The Tbi is a much smarter system overall, just wish they hadn't deleted the Kickstart.

      I've run all the lectrons on my 125/150/250 as well as mikuni and kehin. The TBI is really really good stock, and I have worked on the carbs till they're perfect. I think TBI is better out of the box but I have my kehin better on my 150 currently. Could never get the lectron that good but then again I have a custom needle and the stic on that bike.

    My sons new 24 KTM 125xc fouled 8 plugs in 10 hours before he took it and had the “New Map Update”. We had no idea where to start. The dealers new map made the bike come alive. It was so bad it was sad.

    • @davebishop2566
      @davebishop2566 Před 8 měsíci

      @@madsoothsayer apparently when they let him roll out the door the bike had an outdated MAP loaded. After several weeks of riding and changing plugs he was bummed out and even at the point of trading it in. He was told he was running the wrong oil and his mix was causing his plugs to foul. One of my riding buddies told me they intentionally have a rich MAP loaded so that during break in the engine has more oil. He was also told that he wasn’t warming up his bike correctly. After more plugs fouled we took the bike back to the dealership. The sales guy came back and said that everything should be good to go and that for some reason the MAP was never updated. Really? How come they charge you for set up and don’t set up the bike? This dealership is a great place and has sold umpteen bikes. Why is it just KTM’s that have this problem? I have never had a single issue with any of my 4 stroke bikes. I have literally ridden one of them for 13 years and never had to adjust valves. From the time I’ve been on his KTM I think it’s absolutely amazing. I want a 300 xcw but Dependability is a huge deal when you’re dropping $12-13 k on a bike. When you spent whatever he spent on his it should be actually race ready and not have problems like fouling plugs. I can see buying a bike in Californiastan then thinking you didn’t have to re jet for 12,000 feet in Colorado. KTM seems to have a big change from the TPI and TBI change. Hopefully they get it ironed out before I drop $13k.
