- In this aviation documentary we review Pipistrel Virus SW - Best ultralight lsa for weekend family flight and also even around the world. In this video we talk about the specs of this plane and its features as best lsa ultralight aircraft on the european market.
Fantastic plane I own the sinus in this video with the eagle on fuselage based in South Australia
Have enjoyed many hours of great flying
Thank you to the person that took the time to put this together as to the people commenting on name when I visited the factory and did a flight with there test pilot and commented about the name virus he stuck his chest out and said that was my suggestion because like a virus it is hard to stop you will want to go again and again
He was right
If you want to see our full video type in Pipistrel sinus South Australia
Look for eagle on wing enjoy
Pretty awesome little aircraft.
I LOVE THIS PLANE !!! A joy to fly. But since it is so light, be prepared for some bumpiness.
The major factor in Pipistrel rise was Insolvency of another well known Slovenian producer Elan best known as ski and sail boat producer, also as a sail plane Elan DG producer back in 90s because of some shady dealings by its managment. Because of Insolvency Elan dumped sail plane production, all the technicians lost its job, back then small Pipistrel saw its oportunity and hired most of them, it bought some of the tooling from Elan as well
Flying across the Atlantic non stop is pretty awesome.
Very interesting video, very detailed.
Very happy I just purchased the sinus 914 model with 260 liter fuel tank. I think the range can easily exceed 3500km, but unfortunately I am in China and the sky here has too many restrictions. I look forward to flying around the world with it one day.
congratulations! I wonder how much is it?
@@satriyakristantowicaksono1714 I am the second owner of it. The original import price was 230,000 Dollar.
I want one bad. They are amazing aircraft!
Seems pretty nice to me.
Interesting- my club has just bought one of these. A bit more fragile than our trusty Cessna but sexy if you like Garmin cockpits (I don't). Looking forward to learn to fly this thing - our 50 year old Cessna having become unsustainably expensive to maintain. We have taken the spats off a) because we operate from a runway with an arrester cable on it and b) to enable landings on grass strips..As to your informative video - it might be better to quote speeds and distances in knots rather than mph. I don't know what we paid for it but I doubt that it was half what you quote as a second hand price (it is ten years oldn apparently).
The name leaves much to be desired. Sweet-looking plane though. Although I was always partial to low-wing acft, I really like the visibility of a high-wing.
Can a pilot in United States build up 1500 flight hours in this aircraft? I was told Mesa Airlines has an innovative program and they are using these planes to build a flight time but I thought the LSA was a different different category from the PPL rating.
A plane is a plane for flight time if you have a PPL.
This aircraft (VIRUS SW ) is certified and is used for PPL training, i am currently doing my PPL on VIRUS. So you can build hours with it.
the Flex seems more versatile
Throughout this video he is saying Virus SV. It’s not an SV it’s a SW. Probably confusing for many viewers
its Slovenian, so European pronunciation would suit better, i thought. In Europe this plane is indeed SV, like BMW is Be Em V, not be em w, as pronounced in US
@@bigmetalbirds Not in 'Wajdušna'!
All great except the name! Both the make and model!
It does not appear you can fly this with a LS license.
I believe it is designated SW for short wing; not SV.
16 us gallons tank, 1200 kilometers range
200 km/hr.
The info is not accurate, it can only go 600 kilos with Rotax 912 installed on cruise speed
You, probably, have misundestood it. Its 26 gallons, as stated in the video, + multiple documented flights of 1200+ kilometers.
Why do you pronounce the designator 'SW' as 'Ess Vee'? Is this a nod to the German (and perhaps Slovenian) pronounciation?.
Because thats how we pronounce the abbreviations here in Europe. I usually research the correct pronunciation for US made planes, but for the Pipistrel, i pronounce it as I heard from pilots i know. Its like BMW, we call it Bee Em Wee, or Bee Em Weh something like that :)
@@bigmetalbirds I thought that was the reason (I drive a Fa Weh Sharan ) but the accent of the commentator doesn't sound very 'European'!
Oh - and are we supposed to call it a Veeroose? It's a rather odd name in these post pandemic years - maybe less so before the plague.
@@georgemorris9971 you are right it’s pronounced Veeroos in Slovenia
Many thanks for the awesome video on Pipistrel, i am doing my PPl on this particular aircraft . It is a joy to fly. Despite its size, its is very stable including in turbulent air
Still not affordable for the average person. General aviation is still for the 1%
I always thought it was misnamed... the general population could never afford it.
Doesn't fly as fast as a Cirrus, that's b.s.
depends
