Photo Montage of Hina Matsuri (Girl/Doll Festival) in Kada city, Wakayama. Hina Matsuri is a day to pray for girls' health and success. Doll displays are set out representing a Heian Era (794-1192) Imperial Wedding. In the Heian Era the practice was to send dolls away on waterways to take away misfortune.
In Kada, they put the dolls representing the Emperor and Empress into wooden boats and take them to the sea to set the adrift.
Hina Matsuri is March 3rd.
