Sonic 06 is the reason that people think a 360/PS3 era technique like ray tracing is something new brought to the newer gen of consoles. The games it was attached to flopped, then the technique made a resurgence when people realized it was actually good, just a bit ahead of its time

Sonic and Mario we’re pretty much equals in 2007-2008 because that’s when Mario Galaxy released but that’s also when Sonic Unleashed released.
I honestly wish Unleashed was more respected. People even compared it to Twilight Princess when it was first announced.
