I noticed the pacing problem too, but I still love this movie. And what it lacks in deep story and character arcs, it makes up for with awesome references, colorful action and great, non crude humor. It's definitely the best movie Illumination has put out yet.
I found this movie an absolute blast! It didnât have a very strong narrative but the way they weaved the easter eggs and recreated levels from the games throughout the movie I thought worked really well. Great voice performances, gorgeous animation, and definitely some nostalgia. I just had a really good time.

Fun fact Seth Rogen was once voicing a gorilla for some yogurt commercial that surpringly looks similiar to DK. I guess you could say he was destined to be Donkey Kong from the start.đ
I heard Crash Bandicoot is in production, but that could be just rumor. But I really want to Sly Cooper in big screen. It was promised to us 7 years ago, please make it finally happenđ
I don't mind the story being thin, I thought it was decent and yeah. I do agree on the fast pacing. Regardless, I adore The Super Mario Bros. Movie and it is now one more my favorite animated movies ever and I'm very happy that this movie is doing so well in the box office and I know it's gonna get a sequel. This is a beautiful partnership between Nintendo and Illumination. I would love to see more Nintendo movies from Illumination or DreamWorks Animation. (Considering that both DreamWorks and Illumination are owned by Universal Pictures)
And since this movie is doing so great in the box office, I'm sure that there is obviously gonna be a sequel. Also, I'm so glad this movie exists because I'm a huge Mario/Nintendo fan.
The Super Mario Bros Movie is absolutely fantastic for every single person who is a huge fan of the games đđ
I somewhat agree that the pacing is pretty off, but idk, I might need some time to think about how I would criticize it if I was that one person who is like âIT NEEDS TO BE PERFECT!â, but either way, I LOVED IT!! But for example, the part where Mario was missing Luigi, I feel like they should have made that a whole conversation instead of him saying just to let the audience know, and this is something coming from a hardcore illumination Fan. This movie probably would have been better pacing wise if it was close if not 2 hours long. Ok, here are some bright things to this movie I like, the animation (obviously) is breathtaking! The character are somewhat developed pretty good(especially Mario and Luigiâs brotherly bond), and I am not saying the Mario movie is dark, but it is pretty dark as far as illumination films go imo. And as for Chris Pratt role, I donât blame you for thinking itâs ok, but I personally like it because it stands out to me. Also if there was another thing I would criticize, I would wish bowser was a little less silly, and more threatening. Donât get me wrong, Jack Black did amazing as Bowser, and he did do a kind of threatening bowser, but he just kinda seemed too soft if you ask me. Idk, do you think they made him too soft?
In Some ways yeah, from the first moment they announced Black would be playing bowser I was like "oh yeah, it's definitely gonna be a comedy role," and yeah him being more threatening would've been cool, especially when peach went all Elsa at the end and easily froze him... đ¶

Thanks for your comment, Can't say for sure currently, but if I had to guess, probably not. It doesn't look quite as creative visually as the Mario movie, which will be hard to top animation wise anyways, but who knows, maybe it'll end up being a masterpiece (dountedly) guess we just have to wait and see... đ
