- I played my first village cricket match with the Free Foresters cricket club. Using my GoPro Hero 10, I filmed the match and my batting innings which was played against the Cheshire Gents Cricket Club. I really enjoyed the day and look forward to more matches with the Free Foresters.

The keeper is an absolute delight! Nicer than almost every adult keeper I’ve played against. Very mature and a very talented keeper
🔥🔥🔥
Genuinely the nicest wicket-keeper I've ever seen, I wish there were more people playing the game with his friendly good humour instead of the usual string of abuse masquerading as "banter".
👏👏👏
There are plenty when you play with or against these friendly wandering sides…lovely game to play
That's called sleding it's a part of game
Only when used wisely. Constant inane chatter is moronic.
@@redex8528 sledging just ruins the fun, and it's dirty. Frowned upon professionally.
How very English! A true expression of the Gentleman's Game. Thanks for taking us there.
My pleasure ,🔥
What a great video. This is what English village cricket is all about. Magnificent surroundings, so well shown by the drone, and a good tight game of cricket. Well done Gareth.
Thanks Dad 🔥
10/10 dad
Awesome Gareth! The level of cricket seemed really good! Happy to see a keeper my age be so talented! Pitch seemed like a nightmare to bat on. I reckon the beauty of the ground would've made up for it!
So your 14
13, 14 in a month. So basically.
Yes he's going to be a top player 🔥
@@mikeythescorer ok
@@canyoucricket I play with him at chester Boughton hall and he has played my year cheshire so one year up once or twice
Awesome Gareth. Sylvester Clarke was a lightning quick West Indian fast bowler. He played county cricket and missed out on playing more test cricket due to competition from Roberts, Holding, Garner, Croft and Marshall. Went to Australia in 1981/82 and then went to South Africa on a rebel tour. Jimmy Cook was the opening bat for the rebel South African team- he faced one ball from Sylvester Clarke and decided it was time to wear a helmet! Unfortunately, he died very young. The son looked to have inherited his father’s genes.
I saw Sylvester Clarke play for Surrey against Yorkshire and he was extremely quick and intimidating.
If it hadn't been for his stupidity of throwing a brick into the crowd and nearly killing a spectator in India, he might have played a lot more test cricket, because that incident let Michael Holding take his place.
Good stuff mate. Was nice to see how friendly and in good spirit the game was played.
🔥🔥🔥
These are the "village/touring" games in the UK that I love!! What a venue, what a fun game, great atmosphere and an absolute legend of a talented, young keeper!!
Great comment Dylan. Thanks 👍
Thank you so much for presenting such a fabulous chronicle of our terrific days cricket at Cholmondeley during our recent Cheshire Gents Festival. It was a pleasure to meet you and both the concept of your channel and content is brilliant.
It just a shame that our strong batting lineup probably had too much port at lunch as we were 50 runs light!
Finally, well batted and it would be great to welcome you back next year.
Thanks again Gareth.
Thanks for the match Nathan. Had a great day playing at a brilliant venue. Loved it and looking forward to visiting again soon 🔥
It's really amazing that you post such fun videos like these daily! Wonderful content mate! keep it up!
Nice to see all the CBH kit there... Freddie is a great kid, will likely go far
Lovely view and drone work from a fan in Western Australia
Im from WA too, u play cricket?
@@swaromkanvinde439 ya
Great watching you build an innings. Never seems to bother you when you get off to a slow start, you typically end up at around a run a ball once you're in. Keep them coming!
Something that I've had to learn. It's amazing how quickly you can catch up even as you said after a slow start. 🔥
Entertaining, amazing, great, good, content, cricket. Absolutely amazing mate! Excited for more videos to come.!
Thanks Liam 🔥
Good innings. Shot on 42 was excellent and all against some tough steady bowling at times. Beautiful ground and looked like a great game to be a part of.
Thanks 🔥
Hi Gareth love your videos really gives me as a young player the pace you face. I remember playing for forest greeners since they needed a spare fielder
Wow. What a team experience it must be to travel the UK and see fantastic and beautiful cricket grounds. 👍🏻👍🏻
Too true! 🔥
their keeper is such a genuine and kind human
👌👌👌
Love this video so much, my 12 year old son watches all your videos and he even says "can you? " he when going for a 2nd run. He might be playing mens cricket next season so these videos really help understanding the differences and how to play the ball etc.
the wicket keeper was excellent on and off the pitch, well done young man!
That's great! Glad my vids are helping. Thanks for your support 🔥
@@canyoucricket and good luck for the arrival too!
Another cracking video Gareth. It’s days like that which is the reason we all play cricket. Makes the post match beers even better.
Too true!!
Quite a proper place to play. Great day Gareth. Great spread for lunch. Kudos to the oppo wicket keeper. Great sportsmanship, nice kid. You just have to love cricket.
Couldn't have summed it up better 🔥
Solid chase Mate 🏏🏏. 🔥🔥
Enjoy the rest of ur weekend
i’m so inspired by your videos and confident that i want to record my innings too but the thing that’s stopping me is not having gopro 😂 but a great video indeed ♥️
Ikr I'm inspired to start playing after watchin his videos
me too,i want to get a bowling machine and film me batting vs machine for youtube
Good knock Gareth! Keep up the good work!
I enjoyed that one. Glad to see you took a proper guard - none of that two leg nonesense ..... Lovely friendly atmosphere. Thanks for posting.
Actually realised I ended up standing on middle anyway 😂
What an absolute great video mate! And that keeper was a legend!
Thanks Nathan 👌
Great idea to play with the Free Foresters. What a great way to play village cricket and get to know people with the same interest. And most of the team come from all over England. Understood that the very friendly captain lives near Gloucester, but you played in Cheshire, and that up to 90 games all played away during the season. Assume that the bulk of the team know each other, and arrange to meet somewhere before the match. Still a huge logistic event to organise, and the players need plenty of time to travel etc etc. On to your performance Gareth...good innings, but i think you had in your head a big 4 to make your 50 and to hit the winning runs. Great day out for you, and many new friends met along the way
Cracking match...nice one
Really interesting when you see 2 people batting...one whos totally on top of theyre game and it all comes easy and another whos struggling trying to find theyre timing/game again. Shows how easy it can all change from one week to another:)
👏👏👏
Thanks for the enjoyable video. Sylvester Clark was a phenomenal and fearsome fast bowler. Apart from his test career, he enjoyed great success and was a vital cog in the incredible performance of the Transvaal “mean machine” in SA during the 80’s under the legendary Clive Rice. Probably the strongest first class team that there has ever been anywhere in the world.
Very interesting! Didn't know that 👌
Teas were one of the best things about village cricket. I played at Monk Bretton, home of Darren Gough, and the teas there were beautiful! I use to come away from table rather stuffed lol
👌👌👌
Love your videos bro, keep up the great work, love from India 🇮🇳
Loved the head cam. Spirit of cricket too
🔥🔥🔥
I recently just started to watch your videos and they are amazing.
Thanks Latha 🔥
what an interesting format! i hope more teams play this over the summer

Great video keep up the good work!
Awsome batting performance 👌🏻😍keep going 👏👏
These videos are like THERAPY ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Good innings, worked hard.
That opening bowler for the other team had some wheels...
That young fella Will sure has some talent.
Another great video in another great spot for cricket.
Thanks for the comment. Always appreciate them 🔥
your videos help me alot and gives me confidence to bat..thanks gg

Just short! Good knock though and a delightful ground. Keep em coming Gareth!

Once again Gareth, great video, love your videos and when I play cricket for U13s (I'm only 12) I use your calls for batting.

What a beautiful video. Keeper had some talent and was such a nice guy!
👌👌👌
What a great young kid that keeper was. Seemed to glove them pretty well too
Yes proper talent 🔥
What a mature and talented wicket keeper for such a young age
🔥🔥🔥
actually a very interesting format of cricket, definitely wouldn't mind seeing this more often at a higher level. lot of strategising needed
👌👌👌
Enjoy man love you I am playing each and every ball as well as a bowling during your video.ni luck for me to play on so beautiful ground
🔥🔥🔥
Nice ground, tough wicket to bat on. That young keeper looked good, hope he stays playing. As for yorking yourself with 10 to win , Gareth.
Yes good cricketer! And as for yorking myself... 🤦🤦🤦🤦
I hope that Keeper goes far in this game, seems like a top lad 👍 Well played also!
I hope so too 🔥
GREAT innings 👏
Thanks Steve!
Will and Gareth has to be the best partnership in modern day cricket
Oh yes!! 😎
Wooow nice different video idea. I found this channel accidentally. Very well done and enjoy your videos. Much love from Sri lanka 🇱🇰 cheers man❤️
Thanks for watching and commenting 👌
Best channel plus you're making me want to join woodhall spa fantastic batting!👍 Hopefully you show your video against Louth CC
🔥🔥🔥
Really liked your batting innings today...Patient and scored off most the bad balls..too bad you couldn't make the 50..👌🏾👌🏾
Love the vids
Top stuff with the bat
Dam that keeper is good. Well played gareth
Thanks Josh 🔥
Yeah Gareth this is Captain's Declaration. We used to play it during the first term at school in South Africa. Absolutely hated it when we bowled first.
Yes toss becomes even more important!
Solid knock Gareth. Just an all around enjoyable video. Well edited, flowed nicely. upgrade that batting camera when you can aye! Maybe YT community can rally around you for that one bud.
Yes it's in the pipeline 👌
Wholesome 🏏
Cracking place to play that Gareth & a good knock under the circumstances! Shame you didn’t get your 50 but a match winning knock.
Im playing at Shanklin, IoW on 21st August so hoping for a good game with a great bunch of lads.
That's brilliant. Let me know how it goes 🔥
Hard fought 46…they didn’t give you many freebies! Good innings
I am looking forward to seeing what you do for 100k subscribers!
🔥🔥🔥
Awesome gazza, well done china!:)
Thanks Jay 🔥
Amazing
Great video
I had a game yesterday where we were chasing a similar score in 45 overs and I batted at number 4, about the same time as u and scored 43 not out off 138 balls to win the game
It was a league game too so more pressure
Well done! Always satisfying to grind out a win 👌
Solid performance today!
Unlucky not getting the 50
Great game and definitely a beautiful ground to play cricket on, the outfield and surrounds were perfect - all the flaws were in the pitch, haha. Looks like you had a great time and I had a great time watching it.
The son of Sylvester Clarke is pretty close in size, action and speed to his dad, that would have got your adrenaline going! Great video and I look forward to the next one.
Yes I watched clips of his dad and couldn't believe how similar the actions were 👍
Gareth you need to come to north wales 🏴 have a game with us … great video again bud
🔥🔥🔥
Will needs to come out here to Aus and play a summer out here!
🔥🔥🔥
Mugged yourself for the 50! But a great knock once more. Got to respect the kid wicket keeper too.
👏👏👏
Good solid knock
Thanks Dan 👍
The best umpire! 13:15
13:58 “jakkle stakkle” 😂👌
😂😂😂
Well played boy.
Mate. Sylvester Clarke was a legend, one of the very fastest and most hostile fast hoteliers I've ever seen. He had a chest on action and caused the best batsmen discomfort with his pace and bounce. Sadly, he died young.
Some good batting there on a hard track to bat on.
Thanks for the comment and insight Ribald 👌
Gareth, as a fellow South African, you need to know more about Sylvester Clarke (if you don't yet know his story....you most probably around 10-15 years too young to have seen him play.)
As mentioned in the comments above, he came to SA with a rebel Windies team. After that tour he played for the Transvaal Mean Machine captianed by Clive Rice which arguably will never be eclipsed as the best provincial/county side ever. He was a feared fast bowler , as good as Curtley Ambrose, Malcolm Marshall or Courtney Walsh.
Side note: That Transvaal team dominated SA cricket for many seasons in the 1980's and had the likes of Jimmy Cook, Henry Fotheringham, Alvin Kalicharan, Kevin MacKenzie, Kenny McKewen, Graeme Pollock, Ray Jennings, Alan Kourie, Spook Hanley, Neil Radford, Sylvester Clarke, Hugh Page, Roy Pienaar and Vince van der Bijl. All of that talent combined was better than just about any other cricket team on Earth and then they were captained by one of the best all rounders to have ever played the game, Clive Rice.
Thanks for the comment Willan! Very interesting 👌 my dad often speaks about the mean machine..
Good game.
14:41 cf. Voldemort's infamous laugh
well batted...unfortunately no half century but still great batting... their keeper was so kind and complimented you
👌👌👌
I think you need to blur out the numberplates, Gareth! Otherwise another top video, really amazing effort you put in. Keep going man!
Great stuff mate, just wanted to let you know, you showed Will’s car number plate. Not sure if that’s a problem but wanted to let you know
Goat
The keeper is so nice I wonder how and why his team doesn't
Grew up playing nearby, loved this video. Just FYI it's pronounced "chum-lee". Great stuff as always Gareth.
Yes! I only found out later in the day 🤦
@@canyoucricket It's a stupid name. Thanks for the awesome content and congrats on 50k. Well deserved
🤣🤣 no problem. Thanks for your support 🔥
Real saffa cooling that beer down with ice 😂😂
In my defence it was a cider 😂
It's Chumley - old boy!🤣
I know 🤦 found out too late!
Sylvester Clarke used to play for the old Northern Transvaal in SA
The Mean Machine 👍
Well done Boetie
