Suggestion: Maybe you could create a "comparison" between the styles through the ages ... giving your own (obviously subjective) evaluation as to:
- comfort
- ease of dressing
- ease of cleaning
- how complicated to create
- variability (through "accessories" ... some styles probably have more options than others in shawls, jackets, ...)
- ...
Not many people have the chance of wearing this amount of different styles.
that is exactly what my videos do?
@@priorattire I think maybe they meant addressing comfort, or ease of dressing within one video maybe? Like, of all the eras you regularly dress in, which is the most comfortable? Which is the quickest/easiest to get dressed? I know you’ve addressed some of these questions for the Victorian era specifically already though.
I am making a 1790's round gown in linen and I can never iron it to perfection. So I decided that some wrinkles would just have to be part of wearing it. And I am sure that would be true in the 1790's as well.
Its harder if you dont have a servant iron it for you lol
I've been wondering what a round gown was. Thank you.
Linen just creases the second you look at it... I do iron my linen kirtle after washing it, but any subsequent creases it gathers as I wear it are just part of nature and to be accepted as they are. I don't have time to iron all that fabric every day!
Starch or a steamer would help.
I simply adore that gown! Recently after watching a video from Bernadette banner I made my first late 18th century shift at 61 years old! I want you to know how marvelous the journey has been and had it not been for wonderful inspirational content like this I never would have made that journey! Keep up the good work!
One of the more "sane" periods of fashion for women. Elegant, practical, and romantic!
Pity about the pockets though.
Learning how each decade dressed and how it changed. Thank you
All of these outfits are feminine and stunning. 🇦🇺💕💜
This one was interesting; once you'd got the open robe on, the first thing that came to mind was the 1995 adaptation of Sense and Sensibility; you see multiple characters wearing them, in different colours/fabrics, and also (in what I think is a nice touch) over different day gowns. I could almost imagine it being their equivalent of wearing a fitted jacket/blazer over modern clothes; it just adds a smarter edge to the look, somehow.
The costumes from that movie are so beautiful and seem historically accurate. I love it!
I really like the relaxed and flowy nature of the whole outfit. Just BEAUTIFUL!
It is so fascinating to see how fashion has changed over the centuries. You do such an amazing job explaining and showing how fashion trends stayed the same or changed over a period of time. The work you do on these outfits is impeccable! God bless
Love this transitional period in women's fashion.
I love this style too - it is my favorite! looks so comfortable!
Absolutely exquisite.I love the soft green fabric of the outer dress /jacket it sits so nicely and turns a simple dress into something much more exotic 🥰
I like you compliment
Lovely late 18th century day gown, love the green. Bravo !
I love the look of the 1790s
The styles prior to the 20th Century might seem cumbersome with it's yards and yards of fabric, but at the same time, very practical as the dresses could be taken apart and made into new clothes.
Lovely, not filmed in December...bluebells gave that away-looks very comfortable and adjustable-love the American Duchess shoes too
filmed on may and in august...
I love this! I'm short waisted, so it would be flattering as well. Love the color too. Thanks for sharing the video.
I love the front closures; one can finally dress oneself! I do wonder about the practicality of wearing a train while walking in the woods; wouldn't it be forever picking up debris and dirt? Still, so lovely!
see the last bit of the video on how you carry it when in the woods :-)
Absolutely gorgeous dress. Thank you again for your precious time to make these great videos, Izabella.
I love the fact that your videos appear raw and unedited. The little bloopers like getting your wrap snagged and yanking it. I love that your content has character and you leave the little mishaps in.
they are edited - but they are not scripted. i just wing it as i go along, and mishaps happen!
Absolutely one of my favorites. It is gorgeous!
I love that soft green color. The turban cap was very interesting.
I read the warning, but I was still scandalised by the ankles! Lol.
Beautiful!! Just beautiful!
Exquisitely beautiful! I love the style, the color, the shoes, just everything, beautiful!!!!
LOL I love that warning at the beginning. Very creative.
Oh my god! I love it so much! It's so flowy! And light! I think I'll have to go look up more 1790s outfits. I think I just found "my decade" thanks to you.
I am a fan of the 1790s style as well. Transitional periods sometimes have the best look.
Last time I was this early Robespierre still had his head.
Such a beautiful outfit!
Tuula, those embroidered garters are stunning.
Hey Lisa how are you hope you’re staying safe
Вы талантливый профессионал с золотыми руками.Успехов Вам в вашем творчестве и бесконечной красоте, которую вы создаете!
This is my favorite so far. The clothing is beautiful and looks comfortable.
I too prefer the 1790s over the high regency style. I think for me maybe it's because I'm an hourglass I feel more comfortable and less like a sausage with the fuller skirts in combination with higher waist.
How lovely! Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world. Hello from the Pacific Northwest.
Happy Holidays to you from Lower Queen Anne🎄🎄🎄!
You look so gorgeous and graceful in this gown, that open robe and turban are just smashing...
Such a relaxed, comfortable style of dressing.
Jane Austen would be 15, oh how I wish I could see her and her community in their everyday outfits..
Oh my godness, I watch video for many years now and every time you "adjust the assets" I burst in laugh. I really like you, you didn't have any filter here, and it's really fun
“I’ll keep the turban simple, no feathers.”
Two seconds later:
Feathers after all.
We all knew this would happen. 😂
I adore ribbon embroidery!!! You've inspired me once again!!!
Chemise à la reine style dresses have made somewhat of a comeback in recent years. Also, check out those curls!
Beautiful work and excellently done as always.Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season.I’m secretly hoping that you’ll do a Christmas gown lol
Splendid colors! A most pleasing video. Thank you...
You bring to mind Elizabeth Bennet…absolutely ravishing and yes, so romantic!! Love the grace and sensibility of this time period.
I. Love all the dresses of that era, they're amazingly elegant. Also watching your videos just wonderful
If I was going to a costume party I would definitely dress in this style, it looks very comfortable and not to hard to put on
Always liked the olden time era I think it's beautiful
I quite liked this one.
I honestly would wear a version of the petticoat and chemise for the summer in this day and age. Perhaps in a pail blue. And I also want to make that stay, it looks relatively simple and comfortable.
Patterns of Fashion 5 ends with the 1790s stays, actually, it doesn't go into the 19th century. :-) But as I was watching you put those on, I kept thinking "are those the 1790s stays from Patterns of Fashion 5?" I want to make them one day - I love 1790s styles, too, though I like Regency in general except for the extra floofy late styles - so it's really nice to see them in action! :-)
I'd love to see a revolutionary woman from this time period as well! Maybe with a phrygian cap, tricolore rosette and the like?
Simplicity, elegance and beautiful , you look marvelous!!!
I always shriek with excitement when I get a notification of your video :)
SUCH a graceful style. Love this.
Don’t you love the design
Everything you create is just divine! I love your skill and attention to detail
I do so enjoy these. 😍 Particularly liked your remark about the train. I cannot think of why I would so love to have an opportunity to 'wear a train' considering what a PITA it looks like to. 🤣
Thank you for sharing this. This is one of my favourite styles. I just love your videos.
Very beautiful !! I think is my favourite old fashion period !!
A new 'Prior Attire' video! What a treat! Thank you!
Very grande dame, with feathers!
I really like this style...the era Pride and Prejudice was set in,loved that Jane Austen!! You look lovely in it!! Keep up the good work. Happy Holidays to you and yours!!
What a beautiful style! And if I'm not mistaken, "chemise a la reine" was worn by Marie Antoinette on the day of her execution to express an image of innocence.
So elegant and feminine,it’s my new favourite era😍👏
INCRÍVEL ESPETACULAR MARAVILHOSA
It is really very comfortable and progressive in cut.Pure Jane Austin style!
I redesigned my first successful dress, and it now looks like an Edwardian version of this.
I would love to do re-enactments of this time period. I am heavy set and this style just makes me look perpetuity pregnant. 😆 It isn’t a good look for me. It looks lovely on you. I have to stick with 1860s re-enactments.
Same lol. I’m not heavy-set at all, but I have a wide rib cage and a long waist. Combined with my tiny boobs this style makes look me flat and bulging simultaneously… in all the wrong places.😆
I am longing to see some handsome incroyable and some even prettier merveilleuse!
irrelevant but i love the way you say chemise a la rein and Marie Antoinette. I don't know, it just sounds so nice.
Hi first time watching it took my breath away so beautiful you look as if you could be in the 1700s which has always amazed me i will keep watching your channel 👍thank you Milly 😀🎄🤶🍭🎅🌲💖💛💖💛💖
"...and it fastens with a hook and eye, which I cannot see because boobs"! I felt that!
Love the feathers!
I absolutely love you’re videos, the fashion from centuries before I was born fascinate me. How ever the part of me that cannot handle summer or any type of heat, thinking about the layers that people wore during summer makes me sweat!
Magnifique, comme toujours
Beautiful dress 🧡 and it looks very comfortable and lightweight, too. Your hair also looks great in this video 🧡
very, very interesting, as allways. Thank you 🙋🇵🇱🌺🍀🍀🍀
Question: I know the purpose of garters, but how do you keep them from sliding down your legs? If you tie them tightly, don't you cut your circulation? If you loosen them, don't they slide down?
Keep making the videos. They're wonderful!
tie them just enough to do the job, stockings stay on, and i cannot feel the gaarters, so blood circulation still good
That is a stunning outfit.
Love your channel! So interesting! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I love this Empire style dress and the turban. They are simple but very elegant. Where would you find a pattern to make a dress and turban like yours?
I knew you were going to opt for the feathers 😂
For someone who hates wearing layers, watching this is about to break me in hives :D
Graceful as always my Lady
I love it it is just adorable
Yes it is. It look beautiful on you
Love❤
Very elegant
your stockings are a bit shorter this time! mine always have to be above my knee, lower ones always fall down and take my garters with them 😅 though maybe that’s because of my calves. i’m partial to the 1790s as well, transitional styles are so fun to study and wear!
As per always this video is wonderful! Thank you for sharing all the information and hard work. You mentioned that the gown was a Janet Arnold pattern are the other pieces as well? Just a wonderfully beautiful look.
No, the dress is self drafted
@@priorattire it's wonderful! Thank you again for the video.
Hey! Sorry, I'm not really interested in Historical Dresses. But, I love your Videos. The are very Informative. And you are so a good Thatcher, for Historical Dresses. But nearby, you are very Humorous. I Love the Pictures one the End of your Videos. The Kickboxing and so Romantic Wimon. Greets from Austria. Andrea
You kinda HAD TO become very proficient at tying knots which are strong but not too strong to prevent them from opening again.
Lovely!
Our skilled hostess also has a very pretty curly hairstyle! Once again I think stopping the whole process with the bodice would be perfectly legitimate.
Beautiful
Gorgeous
lovely!
Lovely. Does the bottom silk hem have a wool braid or something to protect it as it drags?
I was so surprised by the white gown. It looked like something that was for home not a public outing. But pretty though.
"... the ironing equipment in the hotel room where we are staying ..." WRONG!
"... the maid did a bad job at ironing ... and I will consider what to do about her later on ..." FIXED!
nope. why would i have to lie about it?
Love it
Beautiful. The mint green is a favourite colour of mine, but can you walk a borzoi in it? Would the dress be OK for sketching in like those pictures of well-brought-up young ladies you see in earlier and later eras? Or was sketching or painting popular in the 1790s?
