Not a secret! We’ve seen this since this season started, and know the main reason we traded IQ was Deuce had developed into good young guard. It takes a lot to get Thibs to trust young players so you know Deuce was deemed good enough before they retreaded IQ and RJ for OG. His offense has grown up to match his great defense.
This is revisionist nonsense. Mcbride wasn't getting much mins when we had quick. Knicks expected him to pick up some slack but this output is impressive
@@omarreid7222 its not revisionist history, when the trade was made there were reports that the Knicks internally felt that McBride had taken a big leap behind the scenes and could replace some of what IQ did. Obviously hes not the same style of player as IQ.

Duece wasn’t playing when we had IQ because IQ was basically a starter stuck on the bench behind Brunson. Behind the scenes, Deuce was narrowing the gap. IQ is still ahead of him, but the coaches saw that Duece was ready to step into the back up role and dominate while IQ had outgrown the role.
Yet, Knick fans have been saying for years that Thibs can’t develop players.

I think what Thibs does is decide pretty early on whether or not a guy has the drive to play the Thibs way and doesn’t really deviate from that assessment. He also uses practice to develop players, not games. Thibs has been glowing about Duece’s game from day one, even when he was getting no burn in NBA games. We are finally getting to see what he was talking about. Guys who he “never gave a chance” haven’t really evolved past the role they played under Thibs. Obi looks like a career back up and Reddish is a role player. It might be that when we see a guy with a ton on unlocked potential that isn’t being developed, Thibs sees a guy who is peeking in a limited role. When has he been wrong?

Most of us Knicks fans liked Quick. But give me deuce over Quick all day. What I did not like about Quick was how much he use to hold on to the ball. He was more of a ball hog. On the other hand, Deuce makes much quicker decisions, doesn’t turn the ball over and he’s tenacious on defense. Not to mention the Knicks don’t have to pay him over $100 mil like what Quick will be getting

One thing that is essential, he is a product of the G-league.. he got drafted but didn’t make the roster, the Knicks let him cook, they developed him.. now he’s a stud.. the Knicks have drafted and developed great players .. quickley, McBride, Robinson, Barrett.. and thibs has unlocked Brunson something the mavericks never did, just for a few games in the playoffs before he bounced

Miles McBride can be a 40% 3pt threat and he has been for 2 years now
Now that RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley are gone there are more minutes and opportunities for Miles McBride to play
In the playoffs his role will be reduced to 10-12 minutes- basically on the court when Jalen Brunson rests
In rare situations you will see McBride at the 2 (shooting guard) when the Knicks are playing small ball
He’s a sniper and now he’s finding his ball handing skills.
One thing I've noticed about Deuce is no one ever gets around him. His footwork is impeccable. He may be undersized to go against some of the taller guards but he's effective, period! Now that his shots are going in that's just the icing on the cake.

The team clearly knew something when they traded Quickley. Deuce showing he can play way more of a two way role but he wasn't getting minutes before the trade.
