On the subject of "serial dating" I greatly agree with her approach. Assuming that dating is a activity with the goal of eventual permanent partnership, how can a 20yr old formulate a view of the kind person they want to spend the rest of their life with if they havent experianced who THEY are as a person yet? That develops from maturity & dating a variety of personalities from different backgrounds, lifestyles and views in and out of your circle of influence. The point really is that the public disdain for serial dating is only because of the preconceived notion (or expectation) that every person you date has to become a bed partner and right away. Therein comes the public sneer, the equivalent that multiple dates = "sleeping around a lot" or that multiple dates means she must be "difficult". Either its the expectation of the men so you're worth their time or the fear of women, that if she doesnt, he won't want to stick around and get to know you. Intimacy and compatibility is best achieved outside of the bedroom or it will never survive the essence of what makes a strong, trusting, long term relationship. And sometimes the most trusting longterm successful relationships have never been consummated because they never required it. What was once encouraged as "playing the field" was successful with finding long term relationships when partners weren't so hell-bent that it all required getting into bed first. Give yourselves a break, date LOTS of people, get to know them. Get to know yourself. Go Taylor!
