I’ve been using this for years, it’s great!
Subbed & thanks for sharing!
I love your channel. I just did a major remodel on my wife’s salon. It’s channels like yours that make it easy to figure out how to stuff on your own.
At first I'm like... but then I'm like, "Hey, this is pretty good!" I'm getting back into flying after a long break, and trying to keep things affordable, so coming across a free EFB is amazing, and your video is a well done introduction.
Hey I really appreciate it! There’s definitely nothing cheap about aviation, but any tips and tricks Ive learned to save money I want to pass along to hopefully help the next person.
Very interesting Video !! Thanks a lot.
Hey thanks! I’m trying to make sure that I post videos about things I found valuable in my flight training. I love aviation and hope that I can in some way help others pursue it.
I love this App. I been using it for a few years now. All good and FREE.
Really informative video--thanks!
Are there any important features from Foreflight missing in this app?
One that I can think of is the collision avoidance feature on ForeFlight that highlights obstacles that are at your altitude. I’m sure there are more being that this one is free, but I think it’s more than adequate with a little extra planning. Now if you’re flying a lot I’d probably get ForeFlight.
I was a hardcore road warrior before the pandemic. I built a Stratux and used it with this and Avare to level up my planespotting hobby. I preferred this over Avare partly because in FPG you can overlay plates on top of the chart, leaving ADS-B traffic intact. That let me pull up the ILS approach plate for the active and anticipate the traffic that was coming into view. Avare will only show your position on a dedicated plate view and only if the plate is to scale and the GPS coordinates of the plate have been tagged. I spoke with the developer of Avare about it and he just flat out declined to implement the feature.
Yeah I fly with a buy that has a stratux and it’s great! I love being able to use the approach plates overlayed like that.
I am going to try this EFB I am only interested in Traffic when I fly my little 1958 Cessna 150.
Looks very attractive. Is this approved as primary source of navigational information for VFR and IFR?
Good question. VFR it would be no different than any other sectional. While I’m not a representative of FltPln Go or instrument rated I don’t believe it can be use independently for IFR.
I believe it can be used to the same extent ForeFlight can be used. I would have to check with FltPlan Go to know for sure.
Do these apps let you plan a flight simply from point A to point B? For example I want to take off from a small grass strip in my small town and fly to the lake house about 50 miles away, this being in a small amphibious UL. Is this app helpful?
I believe as long as both locations have airport identifiers or way points you should be able to flight plan with it just fine.
Great APP! Thanks!
No problem! It’s saved me a lot of money. I would download ForeFlight if I got to fly a lot more.
Does not seem to be available in the UK. Pity
That sucks man. I’ll have to research what options there are on that side of the pond.
nice infro to now
Thanks! This app helped me save money early in my flight training so I thought I’d help get the word out to anyone that it might help.
Do you have to have cellular data available while using this App?
Great question. On the ground pretty well always. In the air depending on the location as long as I’m below 3k feet I generally do.
Does this app has synthetic vision also?
I don’t believe it does. But it he’s a lot of great features for a free app.
Avare also.
Why can’t I find it on my appstore?
I’m not sure. I went to the App Store and found it. It says Flight Plan Go for iPhone in the App Store. It use to be compatible with android I don’t know if that’s changed or if there’s a separate app on android.
Thank you so much for the great review.. I'm definitely going to use this app
