I'm so glad you told this story. There are so many stories like this. I've lived on 4 continents, and there is no place more racist than Europe. You leave Kenya and you discover what it is to be black. Heart breaking.
Mkurugenzi i can testify my ordeal also, Personally i have been working with this guys for around 4 years but in each and everything that we do as african in organizations haziwabambi, you sees the hate and disgusts in their faces any time you are trying to give your perspective on any important matter inawaffect as workers... it is unbelieavable guys. They make me feel we are still in slavery. I love my black brothers and sisters no matter what we might differ on or to what extent. Waafrika tujipende bana...we are brothers and sisters nobody will ever welcome us. East or West, nyumbani will always be the best place.
Master hapo umenena. We black people need to embrace and love each other and show unity of purpose. Whenever u come across racism against another brother or sister don't hesitate to challenge it.
Yap. I agree totally. She knew the harsh weather and racial profiling with her people, she should have done better. But ni poa tu juu mkuru si amepata story ya kutupea😊
I think it all depends on the country. I am in Melbourne and I guess its one of the diverse cities in the world everyone is just so kind and willing to help. Every time you walk around all you see is people smiling at you. It's beautiful🙂🙂
Speak for yourself, i also live in australia. Racism in australia is very subtle. They dont show it to your face buts its there, you only have to live there for a couple years then you will start to see it. The smiles are "plastic", the politeness is "fake". Dont be fooled, its all an act. They are just wearing a mask.
Yes, we need more stories such as these especially to educate Africans who sometimes become disrespectful to their country men/women when they get an opportunity to go abroad. Although the white person that takes you abroad may love you, it does not mean the community where they take you to settle will accept you. The courtesy extended to white people in Africa is not always the same courtesy extended to black people in Western and European nations. This is a sad reality that makes many in diaspora never feel at home in foreign lands.
Unfortunately, africans only learn thru experiences & pain. We never do diligent research before travelling outhere. Racism is something you have to experience for yourself to learn. Mzungus hate us africans with a passion.
Being exposed to racism at my work place, and having to develop a thick skin, I am super glad you are bringing this story to the masses. One has no idea how bad it gets until one is exposed to it. We never realize our skin color until you fly out of Africa and suddenly its pointed to you that you are different

First story: such an unfortunate position to be in. As an immigrant to the 🇺🇸 (been here for almost exactly two decades), I can only imagine how that would have felt if it were done to me when I first relocated to the USA. The ending of the second one is a feel good story and I am glad it happened to the ONE, THE ONLY, MKURUGENZI - THE BEST STORY TELLER of our generation. Thanks for that story! Next time i come to Kenya, I will be sure to look out for that chalk X - unless they’re doing something else that I won’t catch, I will be on the lookout.
Hey Abel, I live in utawala and whenever I pass near the airport I always hear your voice speaking about aviation...day in, day out 😊😊😊 MKURUGENZI EFFECT
What a horrible experience for that lady. The host should have organized to pick her up at the airport, since she already knows how the system is. The dark side of living in the west is that these people despise us, and will show you how much at every opportunity.
Mkuru you are very cool, you are a very strong person, you are bright yourself, your stories are perfect, brother, I love them very much, may you be blessed.
this happened to me at Frankfurt airport Germany. Ati naenda 🇺🇸 naringa na greencard visa....hakuna mtu anakutambua. Evil exists. usicheze na frostbite, Nisha call 911 wanikujie after kukosa taxi in Vermont

Racism does exist and some Greek people can also be quite rude. It is quite unfortunate what happened to the lady. I tend to think that maybe it was her first time travelling abroad otherwise if she had some travel experience or had done a bit of research she would have easily been able to maneuver her way around. When travelling, travel smart so that you can be able to be independent and don't rely wholly on other people. Some people may not want to talk to you because they are racist or just plain rude but other people just don't want to talk because they don't speak English. Of course its Greece, everything is gonna be in Greek. One of the things you must arrange for is how you will get from the airport to your final destination and back. The organizer should have helped arrange for the logistics. Buy a sim card at the airport. Even before this was an option I used to literally google the directions of everything, send the map to my phone, make screenshots and also print the maps at home before I leave. Just prepare really well for the trip and have a plan B for everything.
I agree with you. Some Europeans have never travelled out of Europe and they can’t understand why someone can’t get around from the airport. Pole sanq for your experience

I feel for the lady. But she also overlooked some things. Here are some tips: 1. Google few things about the country you're visiting including basic manners, street codes, etc. That's why the White once in Nairobi, they try to say JAMBO... Habari yako.... etc 2. Once you land at the airport. You should know the best network to buy sim card from based on your home country and region you're traveling to. Buy a local sim card and load airtime and bundles. This will allow you to communicate with your host and call back home in case of emergency. You all need to see how the whites buy the MPESA/Safaricom lines hapa nje ya International Arrivals JKIA terminus. 3. You should have established the best transport mode from the airport to your destination. i.e bus, train, tram, metro, or taxi.... In Europe Trains are the best for inter-city travel. If you board some buses, you'll likely find it rough because they have specific stopovers and usually long distances. 4. Google Lenses and smart cameras come in handy in translating some texts, especially those you want clarification urgently. I am sorry for that lady...

I can relate, its so sad how we treat them nicely when they come to our countries as if they are some kind of gods
It's even more unfortunate that some Kenyans extend the same discrimination to their fellow country people when those foreigners are around.
As long as their militaries and economies are stronger than ours it will always be so
