  • The cottage was pretty much in ruins when a restoration project began in 1999.
The property had been purchased by Tim and Patricia Negus in 1994 and the restoration of the old house was just one of the many projects they undertook on the farm.
Originally the idea was to run cattle on the property but Tim was very interested in establishing a winery, thus Swallows Welcome Winery was born.
Although they were officially retired, Tim and Patricia worked tirelessly on the farm and they built the Chapel of the Flowers that became a gallery for Patricia’s work as well as a function centre for locals and visitors.

Real country farm house. Reminds me of the house we lived in in Morawa back in 1968-71. Absolutely nothing like it. Love it.

This looks like something I would stay in to get away from city life. Also it’s nice to see VHS still being used. I actually have two VCRs myself, one of them is a National from 1983, and it has a remote too.

That looks like the house I spent my first 11 years in. Four rooms plus verandahs front and back. That has an extension. Timber is all jarrah, probably from the mill at East Witchcliffe. Wall and ceiling linings, asbestos sheeting. We used to play with it.
You will hear the traffic on evenings when there's not much wind, possibly even the ocean.

No, sadly the gallery side is closed permanently but you can get books on the Cape to Cape publishing website as far as I know.

@@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen I bought a book of Patricia's paintings when I visited a few years ago. Some others in the party bought some wine.
