This song hits home. It did back then, and it still does. This a perfect example of what music can do, it passes right through you, the lyrics, their voices, the music, the setting, it all comes together and creates such an eery magig!
Depression is an ugly thing, yet somehow this song manages to squeeze some beauty out of it. Finding beauty in your life somehow makes it worthwhile.

Ik vind dit de mooiste uitvoering van Shadowman en prachtig gezongen door de broers Gert en Sam.
Hoe zou het over enige tijd klinken? Ik las hierboven een comment dat dit nummer 1 en al Gert is... Nu lijkt het eerder een vroege hulpkreet van Sarah.

Sarah put on a good show tonight. It was nice to see Gert's Woodface too, so good to see him and hear his voice again. Sarah finished and some people left, little did they know...
There was no old woman or something wrong, yet ;-) I saw remarkable hugs on stage and an announcement by her's truly: "May I present: K's Choice!" Gert, Sarah, Eric and Koen.
They gave us Butterflies and a blazing Everything for Free :-o. Sarah finished with two solo-numbers. Give 'em time, it's on kids!
Contemplation of freedom ... or peace ... better to have this song instead. Thanks for showing the sun again...the shadowman becomes a silhouette in his eventual absence. And omg the vocals of you both...

10th of November LIVE please. It's my birthday, but I am asking for two friends. One will be with me, the other should have been there too. The one would like nothing better than to hear and see this one live, for years now. The fact that the other will not be there, ever, would make it extra special, and fitting. Blijft me keer op keer beroeren, Gert ik herinner me nog een optreden lang geleden dat je dit nummer bracht met enkel kerstlichtjes rond jou, kippevel
Sarah's performances lately show an increased use of a certain pre-show/support act: The band Woodface... with a very familiar face in it ;-) or it's Gert on his own supporting her again. He's NO Shadowman to me!! When Sarah sings a K's Choice without Gert it just doesn't feel right, and one can see it in her eyes. One of the best bands ever.
Keep an eye out in 2009, Your prayers have been answered. There will be a new cd.

Unfortunately this is the perfect example why the rift between Sarah and Gert happend, since this is the only song from Almost Happy that's all Gert and in live situations Sarah couldn't help but to take over the song.
Btw. as she should, since her voice was/is amazing, but it left Gert still playing the second fiddle..
Why are such good emotional songs so rarely appreciated? Many current bands go platinum with songs lamer than his one?

Is it true that Gert really wrote this song? I know Sarah wrote most of them on Almost Happy. I know she was going through a rough patch in her life at that time, but this sounds like something that someone struggling would write. Maybe Gerty's writing from Sarah's POV? It is something that they are both exceptional at.
I always heard it was from Gert. I find that this tune sounds a bit different from what she does...

It is true. This is from his dark times. Mr. Freeze is also his I believe.
Gezoes I never knew Gert had any dark times, I know Sarah did. And yes, Gert did write Mr. Freeze. On a ferry to England actually. He isn't even quite sure what he meant by that song...
