Magnus pretty happy to beat the youngest GM 😁
Thanks!
Magnus: I'll play until I lose a game
- 2 days later
Magnus: Okay, that was stupid
Xaxa
Really stupid
I like how Magnus's screen tells him to go premium so he can play with himself.
„Try to grab some space, make some nonsense moves. You know, World Champion stuff.“ haha well spoken Mr Carlsen
"I'm not so worried about losing the right to castle , I still have plenty of other rights"
🤣🤣🤣
What an amazing thing this is......afterall, what other sport allows ANYONE to compete with the World Number 1 ???
Wow
Actually never thought about it
absolutely correct. It is just nice to watch a GrandMaster playing all of us. Well done Magnus and CHESS24. And yeah, greetings to Jan.
Poker
@@fanieldox Do you really think ANYONE can play no. 1 in poker? I.e. have $1000 or more entrance fee for the tournament? That is way more than premium membership on chess24...
if you can smoke cigarettes while playing and not be hindered(Tal, for example), its not a sport.
Came for the camera drop . Was not disappointed .
lol
yess
😂
Magnus: PlayMeMagnus is a nice user name, but you gotta be premium to play me.
Next game: non-premium player.
I think chess24 pays magnus to play against premium members so they can attract more members.
@@FeLiNe418 of course they pay magnus to play premium players, why would magnus waste his time playing weak players for free.
@@kiran8656 well he owns chess24, so not only does he get all the money it's a good promo for his site.
@@timaghiar he doesn't own chess 24.
@@kiran8656 he does. check chess24 website. he owns some of it anyway after his company merged with them.
Magnus, thank you for making yourself so available to the world. 👏🏻

There's also some bonus chess in the video too.
Thank you! I'm here only for these moments.
Incredible. Thanks for the laughs. Magnus being Magnus.

Daryl Ibrahim it’s just ironic
Lol, "I played like an old patzer, an old retired grandmaster in that game."
Haha
And thats a draw vs a grandmaster😂
What he really meant is I played like Kasparov on that game.😈
Since he is the GOAT ,he prefers a grassy chessboard!

Nice one
Damn. That is one slick comment.

35:23 Magnus' most dangerous opponent, his webcam
This banter was very enjoyable, very witty commentary by world champ!
This is the best banter Blitz I have ever seen. Magnus really has found his form. He is witty, eloquent, sleazy, highly original and of course incredibly strong. His thoughts are insightful. I loved that he played two of my openings, the Grand prix attack in the sicilian and the Scandinavian (be it a very weird Scandinavian)
@@danispringeralways Qa5. And you? It has served me quite well. I am not happy about my results with the grand prix for white or the Dutch against d4.
@@danispringer 4 out of 5 times they will take the pawn. If not, I will push to d4 and later c5
@@danispringer sorry, I am a Patzer. My chess.com rating is about 1600. Carlsen however gives plenty of novelties. Only a few patterns I recognized. Shifting the queen to h5, sacrificing the Bishop for an open a file is something I have quite often done. If the sacrifice is accepted it almost always worked.
Before blanter blitz I would never imagine Carlson was such a talkative personality
And he showed off his tech skills
Love it when Magnus identifies the country of the opponent by looking at the flag. When he was a kid, he remembered country, capital, currency, flag etc. of all the countries. His prodigal talent was then discovered. Thank you chess 24 for this.
Also, he pronounces names in Spanish surprisingly well (not perfect, but better than good enough).
They also show the flag of the country/chess league that players are playing for in actual live tournaments. So I'm sure he's played players from dozens of countries and has became familiar with at least all the major countries' respective flags.
@@Eorzat yes, that's true. Country capital and flag is not that of a big deal. I also remembered every country capital and location in the world map when I was in class 7th (13 years). Just that Magnus did that when he was 5 years old.
@@uoyebuttnuocca I don't think the age really matters. What I'm saying is that he's played many players and they literally show the flag on the table next to the player that he's playing. So, I imagine that he's become familiar with many flags since he's played against many players from different countries in the Olympiad and such.
Yeah I’m interested in that too I can recognize most of the countries by their flags
Unbeatable. Soooo amazing we can watch this man play 2hrs straight. The board is green get over it.
Lol at least the board is eco friendly
“Hellonicetomeetyou, Hello nice to take your pawn, Hello nice to beat you.” Magnus is funny.
Nobody:
Magnus Carlsen webcam: imma fall down
Extremely interesting moment at 25:00: even when you're clearly the best player in the world and one of the very very best blitz players, you can't help but want to play an interesting position properly, and so your time runs out because the position is dead equal and there are no semi-winning ideas to be generated... until you start playing utter crap, get a losing position in no time at all, and start finding practical resources at last because you know for sure there are no good moves around to distract you anyway.
The soccer field with its center spot looks like ideal for "King of the Hill" (which I recently play more often, it's fun)
On lichess, right? I like that, too.
Magnus “I love the taste of pawns” Carlsen
“I am a bishop up, the game will be over very soon”
The confidence!
? hmm, because he was a bishop up ? I mean I will be confident with a bishop up and I'm 1400 lol
Magnus's self confidence is amazing, that's how he keeps on winning, because as soon as you start panicking you end up blundering
Loved it as always. Thanks champ!
Me: Magnus lost the queen, shit he's gonna drop a game
Also me: nvm
when Carlsen doesn't know the line, you can see how thoughtful he is about developing moves 47:00
i should probably think a little... meh
Marat Abdrakhmanov thinking be hard sometimes
zieg quantom lol queen sac every game
What a joy to watch a master at work! Making a Czech Benoni work against a 2500, wow
falling camera giving me flashbacks of a previous stream
"Trying to grab some space, making nonsense moves.. you know .. your usual world champion stuff" haha Legend
0:17 This doesn't look like a chessboard, but more like a football field...
... let's play the Kings gambit, you really shouldn't try this at home.. or away
Magnus got BARS
"One of the perks of being me. People respect me to much. I can get away with bluffs."
Somehow I feel sad for him while he says that with a bored face. No real challenge daily with the game he loves.
Just a reminder that he lost horribly on the Fisher random tournament against Wesley So. He is still very much challenged.
Bruno Houri he is challenged in his professional life, this is just against mostly casual players
@@noobmasteryoyo5136 Come on, he always plays GMs and FMs and ratings of 3000 online.
@@victorvalenzuela9174 Fisher random tournament is really another type of chess. Make sense to be challenging.
@@bhouri online ratings are inflated, if you want to see him challenged watch his actual games in tournaments, like the Tata Steel that's going on right now
46:21 Magnus looks like God.
This video is not at all for amateurs... Magnus is just brutal.. made me felt as if I don't know a thing about chess seeing his lethal play.. just an ingenious player!
fantastic show as usual, keep these coming! they are soooo entertaining and instructive for me
One saving grace of the soccer-board is how cool the highlighted move squares look when you pick up a piece, like you can see when he grabs the queen at 28:06.
"Yeah, I got my revenge... last time was a draw"
Amazing ;D
@34:58 Magnus blunders a full camera
Is it just me or is Magnus' a-pawn offside?? 1:55:28
This is the only chess channel I watch now. I don't know how many are familiar with pro cycling but there is a Dutch cyclist, Mathieu van der Poel who is destroying all comers across several disciplines road, cyclocross, mtn bike. He's the type that comes along once a generation. Magnus is the same. To watch him play game after game with casual commentary is special to say the least.
Thank your Magnus, you explain great the games, I love it. Already seen twice all your banters. You are so funny and witty too, very enterteining. Cheers and respects from Madrid, Spain.
It's quite amazing that we get games from the world champion with witty commentary as well. What a time we live in
The Norwegian world champion finally tries the Scandinavian opening. @johnbartholomew is going to love this. #teamscandi

Magnus dropping the camera is already a classic
Anyone else has problems to see/focus on the pieces at first and after 25 minutes or so, literally forgot about it and it was like watching a normal board? It was even more fun at that point. Fascinating :)
Why do we need an adjustment period of 25 minutes though? Just use a simple chessboard and everyone is happy.
MrTanaNios95 ıts his choice to make just be happy that he plays anyone
Magnus is so funny when and how he contradicts his moves and plays them anyway.
Quite a helpful chessboard: Occupy the center and occupy space (make your pieces cross the halfway line)
I thought the same thing. Good for noobs like me to help remember the important squares.
And this is why I pay for internet.
this is why i pay for youtube
Why paying for Internet when you have a neighbour with wifi password 1234 🌚
@@Vodkatittten damn I gotta change mine :(
ok you again lol
Got my chess lesson in today. Right here. Thanks, Magnus!
Absolutely unbelievable, the best chess player ever, he has 25 seconds to a 3000 rated player who has 1 and half min and he ends up checkmating him. And on another occasion he blunders his queen and still manages to beat a master rated player
You have to realise that these ratings are inflated quite tremendously. No human is ranked 3000 anywhere.
@@iski4317 well yeah like he's close to 2900 and 3200+ here or something ratings are also about consistency of performance not just about being good
Being consistent is a big part of being good.
"You really shouldn't try this at home or away." 😂 Magnus so witty!
He definitely flamed Jorden Van Foreest 😂
In the last game white finally got a better position against the scandinavian RAT. At 2:30:28 after ...Bxd5 Bxe7 ...Qxe7 could have played the tactic Bxh7+ ...Kxh7 Qh5+ and Qxd5 which looks wining. The same was possible in the next move also
35.14 "some people's favorite part!" lol
55:26 Magnus talks about the "Girian feat" of drawing 11/11 games ahahaha
2:31:52 Wisdom by our Beloved Magnus Carlsen
Actually caught most of this live from Canada for the first time! Couldn't rewind to check the lines he suggests so quickly. Love these vids! Thanks Magnus!
Thank you Magnus.
"ginkobiloba, I don't know how to pronounce that name.." lol.
What a fantastic show. Never talking down to poor players and telling GM how poorly they have doen. You relaxed pragmatism is very impressive. " is it best nja who care i wnat the exchange. Your commentary is illuminating and funny. what a great time tp be alive to watch the world champ like this. Thanks Magnus keep up the good work.
"is it best nja who care i wnat the exchange" - Magnus Carlsen, as quoted by Jose Raul Capablanca, 1920
3rd time I watch, always fun to get all the details for comments and moves
You are an amazing player of chess thx for this video and thx for taking the time to teach us the game of chess Magnus
LightSquare has very good control over the light squares. I can't.😂
I can't play chess, and still was watching it for 52 minutes. Don't know why.
You should start playing! I only recently started myself. It's a lot of fun playing online!
@@Vlad-wl3fw It's an addictive time sink though!
@@storiesreadaloud5635 Hell yeah. I'm actually now thinking of quitting. Lol. It just kills so much time. And it is addictive...
I don't like Jan and chess24, but banter blitz from Magnus is worth to watch it.
"Hello Nice to beat you" 😂😂😂
You don’t even notice the board after like 30 seconds
Next time a pink and yellow board))
But an interesting observation. It works in theatre as well, or in the movie dogville, where after 15 minutes you forget there is only a floor and no props whatsoever
Hmm
But then you look away, and when you look back it's annoying again.
Best thing to watch before sleep
Fun clever musings from the champ.
Now the scandenavian is my fav defense
Magnus should have the chess24 team make a basketball court board given his user name
Thanks, Magnus! Your comments are interesting! You have a very relaxed, positive style!
Watching Chess videos while starting up AoE 2... it's not the original intro of the game but it's still good.
6:45 a few moves later, I figured out what Magnus meant by going Kd8. Notice that his bishop goes to H6 attacking the c8 square. While the black king seems rather exposed on d8 the only way to get to him is by doubling rooks + Q on the c file. But with the dark bishop unopposed attacking c8 that's just not possible. This must have taken Magnus an instant to realize when he decided he would go Kd8. A normal patzer like the rest of us would probably never have the nerve to play Kd8, much less against a GM, especially after white breaks through with Nc7+. Look at the position at 6:45 then again at 8:08. Ridiculous!
The last game was hilarious. The second to last guy with 1500+ rating played extremely well in my opinion.
@@MrSupernova111 People create new accounts just to play him. The default rating is 1500 even though the player may be an NM, IM or GM. In some cases people may be engine assisted but Magnus usually sniffs them out even though he doesn't accuse anyone directly. He said that one player played "well above his rating, that's for sure".
I like the football field board, thought at 1st the target in the center was distracting, but it grew on me -- highlighted the importance of the center too. Lol, surprised indeed you missed that Knight fork, embarrassing being human at rare tines only though. Good recovery and with the other games, for the most part anyway.
Made others look weak by comparison sometimes. I dont think Jordan likes the Scandinavian. Takk du.
Ps. 1:13:40 Yeah, Got to respect the tripling of major pieces bearing down on the King. Lost a good game by not double checking the tactics involved once by not. Never play distracted or too fast, if you can.
And I lkked the Fight Lkke Magnus lesson too btw. Thx again.
2nd game in... makes a GM resign with ease. Simply fascinating to watch
27:00 has 5 seconds on the clock: „Im gonna flag him“ what a thug
Wow. At 1:13:07 I thought, "Man, he didn't take that rook on F1. I guess that is what separates losers like me from the champions...not gobbling up material just because you can." But...LO AND BEHOLD! hahahhaha
1:08:15 and believe it or not light square does has very good control over the light squares 😂😂😂
Hi Magnus - it looks like you upped your audio gear which is very much appreciated looking back to the poor sound quality of former videos. Now you are even more enjoyable ;-D
