@@ProuvaireJean Incorrect. It pre-dates Esports by a decade or two. As far as I know it comes from Japan. It can go beyond S tier with SSS, usually with brawlers or score attack, eg Bayoneta, side scroller. It is born from Japanese culture of 'perfection / A-tier' via rote, with S tier a recognition of going beyond that.
@@gorak9000I think the S is used as a stand-in for "supreme" or something like that to indicate that it's even better than the best of the alphabetically ranked tiers.
I feel like S tier has to exist but remain empty. An Iron Throne for the lawyer who emerges from mist and does the impossible: makes Trump shut up during a court case.

I love how everytime Trump lawyers talk about the "great amount of evidence they have" in the news, but when it's time to actually present that "evidence" in court, they don't say anything at all.
They went politician instead of lawyer, all big bluffs and promises with no actual substance.
I mean... that's what he hires them for. It's not about winning cases or even fighting them - it's just about being able to say that there were a case and that it went to court, and then whining about the result. The viewers at home don't really care about the details.
Yea those statement are not really for the court, they are for his followers to use as "gotcha" lines in internet arguments.

Weird how someone that doesn't pay their debts and won't follow procedure has problems getting good people to work for him.

I was an accountant for 20 years, and the more conservative the client was, the less likely they were to listen to us as well. They have this overwhelming need to prove to themselves that they know more than experts do.
John Lauro needs to be dropped to C Tier. He filed an appeal of Judge Chutkan's gag order, and the DC Circuit Court of Appeals wrote back to inform him that since he was not a member of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, he was not qualified to file appeals with them. They also told him how to find the forms. The man has been a practicing lawyer for more than 30 years, and he forgot he needed to join the Appeals Court Bar.
I know your not an attorney, because if you were, you’d understand that Lauro is a named partner and a paralegal or junior attorney are usually responsible for completing those mundane task that are renewals and membership applications. That man probably hasn’t had to deal with a bar committee since the entire process was made available online & has absolutely never practiced in DC. His mistake was not bringing a paralegal on his business trip to look into the processes on his behalf. Big lawyers like that do trials, not research.
@@jsky2695 He would have been specifically retained, with a new retainer agreement for this unusual appeal argument. Donald Trump is a big name client. So I disagree. It might seem to be a mundane task, but he should probably of made sure, and remembered that he wasn't admitted or licensed first. Unless the retainer agreement specified otherwise, I don't think that could be blamed on an overeager paralegal or junior associate.

True, I haven't. This is A tier relative to the lawyers willing to represent Trump. The bar for "excellence" is quite low. The fact is, I *have* seen most of these buffoons on screen giving interviews and making fools of themselves and thus know who they are. I remember a video that CGPGrey did where he ranked all the US states flag, and since most of the states flag were terrible, he had to divide up F-Tier in F-S all the way to F-F. I think many of Trump's lawyer deserve those tiers too.

It is impossible for me to believe that she was ever a particularly competent attorney. I just can't picture that.
Why would any serious advocate would become a Trump surrogate ? Appearing as a fart-catcher, fine. Having the principal role of promoting unprovable theories in the media, you'd have to be deficient to not realise how that's going to end badly.
I think for some of them they like the publicity, and they are championed by the far right. Dershowitz for example used to be well respected, but he essentially began pimping himself out to the far right and gets a lot of money from right wing groups. And as we all know, since this recording, Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, and Jenna Ellis all negotiated plea deals in Fulton County. They will all be required to testify against the rest of them in Georgia.
However, Ms. Ellis’ only infraction, of course, was being “too naive” around all those big, strong, powerful man-lawyers.

In my experience, Lawyers don't like taking clients that repeatedly damage their own case. That takes a special kind of stupid.

You're scraping the bottom of the barrel when 1) you're a nightmare client who good lawyers can say no to and 2) a bunch of the lawyers who have already worked with you are facing prosecution and/or jail time.
A lot of people think lawyers have no integrity. These people are a great example of why so many people feel that way.
And it's not a fair characterization. It's just a tiny 99% of lawyers giving the rest a bad name.
Ironically, it's Republicans who are often the loudest about hating lawyers, claiming they are all crooked.
You don't tend to hear about decent lawyers, because nobody ever gets famous for using their lawyers for good.
On the other hand, the fact that these are best Trump can get with all the money he has goes a long way to show that there is still some integrity among lawyers.

I remember getting into an argument with a guy on Twitter who was saying the Dems will get theirs when they Unleash the Kraken! Jokingly responding to him that I'd be Kraken open a beer to celebrate Trump's loss. He didn't think that was funny. I maintain it's a pretty good joke.

Good lawyers tell him not to do things that he wants to do. He has to lawyer shop so that he can find ones that will support what he has already decided to do.
To be fair, none of his lawyers seem outwardly terrible. Trump is a terrible client asking them to defend the indefensible.
@@CakeofWisdom I don't know - to me, the ones who go on TV and try to mislead the public about what the law is, they qualify as terrible. They are undermining the legal system because if the guilty verdicts come back it is going to have Trump making all kinds of claims about how unjust the system is etc. You look at the fraud case that has just gone where he was giving different valuations to different bodies - that is inexcusable. Now if you gave the same wrong valuation to everyone, that would be an error, but to give different versions based on what gave you an advantage is pretty much the definition of fraud. Yet still his lawyers and him bleat about corruption...
Very generous of Devin to keep Kise in A-tier after Judge Engoron set him ablaze this week and personally sanctioned him for his “egregious” “frivolous” and “obstreperous” making of “bogus arguments” ad nauseum in the NY fraud case.

As I was watching this, the words “TRAIN. WRECK.” kept obscuring my vision, in glowing letters, not unlike the after effect of staring directly into the sun. I could hear them, too. Like James Earl Jones in hi fidelity Dolby Surround Sound.

I think that might be Trump trying to play to his base. He tells them he was denied a jury, his base aren't going to care about things like "truth" or "rule of law." They'll just believe him that it's a show trial. Best case, he's hoping his base will keep giving him money, worst case he's hoping for another coupe attempt to save him from this "injustice."

Yeah. Trump just complained about being railroaded by the court in a bench trial on social media. The reality? Alina Habba didn't file the paperwork which might have allowed him to benefit from a non-unanimous jury, due to a holdout juror.
Instead the judge ruled on the submissions and motions presented. It could have turned out very different for him, absent his choice of lawyer in that case.
The fact these lawyers have to leave their current practice to take him as a client. Presumably because the practice wont allow it. Really says it all. 😂
Those lawyers taking those big payouts upfront were shaking hands with the Devil.
They can always go to another practice at the end of the day, at least if they manage to remain out of prison

Contractors in NJ who were desperate for work started adding the difference they knew they'd lose into their contracts before working on his realestate. The lawyers didn't think he'd pull that on them until he stiffed Giuliani. Now, he has to pay up front.

interesting how he chose some of the F tier female lawyers to be, by design, bombshell types who apparently sound credible in front of OAN the cameras - being pitched softball questions - making the base's female audience members feel like they themselves are part of an exclusive beauty queen club, while Sidney P. appeals to the kooky church-going side of that audience. It doesn't matter how poor they are at arguing in court - they _sound_ credible to the NewsMax crowd - which is all that matters to keep the base pumped. I'm not at all surprised that Trump turned from glowing orange to ghostly white after it was announced he was president in 2016 - he knew what was coming. Too bad he's allowed to use campaign funds to pay these hacks to do his bidding. All those grannies sending in their donations $5 at a time adds up.

Well, good lawyers want to be paid, or at least get a high-profile case that lets them show their skills and gain some reputation.
With Trump you won't get any of that. He famously doesn't pay his bills. Plus he has a huge ego, no impluse control, and constantly thinks he's smarter than anyone else, meaning any defense strategy you come up with will be ruined within a few days. So you'll get professionally embarassed and won't even get paid for it.
