    Clear, concise and to the point. Now I officially can become a proud member of the flying crab family. Great video, thank you !

    I never fail to learn something from your videos. The triangle on the glass cockpit panel replaces ‘the ball’! I wondered about that.

    in curves you also get an effect on level flight. The plane will start to descend, the steeper the curve is, the more.

    some planes have no wing flaps, so you must use sideslip to descend to the runway and slow down. Piper Cub is one.

    You produce great videos, thank you. I was always taught to "step on the ball". Also hold bit of right rudder in climbs and left in descents.

    Really enjoy your helpful and fun videos. Without making any endorsements, can you tell us about your hardware set-up (yoke, throttle, rudder pedals, etc. ). Many thanks. Len

    Do you think the MSFS planes self-coordinate more so than in real life? Seems like I don't really need much/any rudder to have a coordinated turn in MSFS 2020.

      @olavpettersen9465 Před 3 lety +1

      Even after the latest update, to which they claim to have added realistic adverse yaw based on recording real aircraft, there doesn't seem to be any need for rudder input once the wheels are off the ground.

    • @joshuabornographic
      @joshuabornographic Před 2 lety

      This is really noticeable when going from IL-2 Sturmovik or DCS World to one of the add-on WWII fighters in MSFS 2020. You should need a lot of rudder management with all the torque, p-factor, etc, but in MSFS 2020 you can pretty much take your feet off the rudder pedals once airborne.

    it rolls with the pedal because the Wing on the outside has to travel faster than the inner wing and as a result the outer wing generates more lift therefore lifting the outer wing more than the inner one and consequently rolling the plane on its lateral axis

    do you use the rudder much when flying jets in dcs? I'm trying to decide which rudder pedals to get and looking forward to the Apache from ED soon.

  • @danthewalsh

    Are you able to turn using *only* the rudder in this aircraft? How does this compare to other aircraft, such as the Cessna?

  • @sitech1234
    @sitech1234 Před 2 lety +3

    So silly question. What is the negative to an uncoordinated turn? I get that a slow speed maneuver can result in one wing hitting a stalling speed, but at normal speed why is it an issue?

    • @erich930
      @erich930 Před 2 lety +3

      Not a silly question! It puts uneven forces on the airframe, is uncomfortable for passengers and pilots alike, and it has a negative impact on fuel efficiency.

    everytime i land on a runway it doesn’t let me use my rudders it’s like they’re locked is it supposed to do that

    I agree with you whole-heartedly about the usefulness of rudder pedals ... if only I could find a set that would last more than a year. You wouldn't name names but I will. I loved the Logitech/Cessna rudder pedals, but after a year, they broke. Thinking (hoping) that was just bad luck, I bought a second, identical set, but after a year that set also broke. It would take too many words for me to explain it, but both rudder pedal sets broke for the same reason: a mechanical design flaw. I trashed the rudder pedals but haven't found another, better set I can afford. ($500 is a bit too much for me.) So now I'm stuck using the rotation axis of my joystick for 'directional' control because the function of rudder pedals on the ground is different from rudder pedals in the air and that's a real nuisance. Anybody have any suggestions?

    So you use the rudder in the direction you want to turn? When i want to go right, i shift the plane to the right with the ailerons and then use the according amount of rudder by pressing the right pedal forward so the plane doesnt slip to the left, correct?

    • @zed2653
      @zed2653 Před 5 měsíci

      late response, but from my actual flying lessons, just use rudder to maintain balance and keep the ball in the tc centered. if you use excessive rudder it can create spin-positive conditions

  • @masonharper4610
    @masonharper4610 Před 2 lety +2

    How do you stop the rudder from locking itself to the left when you land? My rudder is fine until I land and then it goes nuts and crashes me.

      I tried using it in flight but the turn angle is so fast and not smooth at all

    • @PeterNGloor
      @PeterNGloor Před 17 hodinami

      that is when the tailwheel is steerable and not just castering. It is coupled to the rudder cables. But you DO have to use it in flight.

    Thanks but I think the problems with rudder, (My Case is with TCA Sidestick Airbus edition) is in FS2020 it self. In X-PLane 11 or 12 there is no problems with. I Tried your steps but the continue without contro after touchdown. No rudder control and even can´t stop the plane. Thank you anyway.
