This will be long, i just have time, so why not, i don't even really care if anyone would read it or if you will notice this, i just want to put it here for my own sanity.😅 This is the parallel and differences of Arabasta Arc to my own country and the events that happened during early(mid) 80's. First of all, sorry if i can't properly express my thoughts because English is not my native language but I'll do my best. Okay, let me start with the parallels and the similarities i noticed (or just imagined): Country: Kingdom of Arabasta. Philippines my country. Leaders: King Cobra, without a doubt a great leader who loves his country. Marcos, he is ambitious, his love for the country was expressed through several infrastructures built on his time. Cobra has no wife, while Marcos does have, and there's a conspiracy that she greatly influenced in his downfall later on. Conflict: Arabasta went on a drout for a long time in which people or the countrymen lost their faith on the king's leadership. Philippines faces economic struggles which the opposition strongly implicated that there's a massive corruption happening. Both have 2 trusted generals(or commanders) Pell and Chaka, remained loyal to King Cobra. Ramos and Enrile, betrayed Marcos. Both have adversaries. Crocodile, loved and respected by people because of his heroic acts, by kicking the asses of some pirates and seemingly protecting the place. Aquino, charismatic also loved and respected by the people, was declared a hero after being killed. War: Both leaders instructed their military to never fight the people. Apparently in Arabasta, a war broke because of some who infiltrated the military ranks/lines meanwhile in my country the so called Edsa People Power ended peacefully because the military didn't actually fought back the rallyists. Revelations: Crocodile was revealed to be behind everything. However, Aquino was killed soon after he landed on the Airport, the culprit was also killed but the mastermind has remained a mystery until now. Crocodile stated his true motives/intention and got busted by our protagonists. However, Aquino who was sent to US by the first family(Marcoses) to help him recover his health came back to the Philippines despite knowing that his life could be in danger in the hands of whoever it may be, probably the side who will benefit the most which in my opinion, his death certainly won't do any good for the Marcoses who's regiment is on the brink of collapse. Aftermath: When Crocodile was revealed, the bloody war finally ended, King Cobra retained his crown, peace was reclaimed, and their country flourished once again. When Aquino died, it was immediately blamed to the first family, soon after they were forced to leave the palace and country then Aquino's wife was declared as the new president, afterwards, Marcos caught an illness, knowing he'll meet his demise soon, he plea to the new president to let him come home in his country and die in its soil, but to no avail, he died far away from his country, chaos from different places emerges, the economy never truly recovered, and corruption has become rampant. Ever since, our history has been written as, we were freed from the dictatorship of the Marcoses by the Aquinos. But after 3 decades, the people in my country elected the son of the late Marcos.. right now, it's not actually going very well, especially after the pandemic and the global effects of it in the economy. There are many versions now of our history, but if the people actually suffered from a hellish dictatorship, why would they even give a chance to his son? Now, to close these crazy thoughts of mine, Oda gave a satisfying conclusion in Arabasta, but for us, we don't have Oda, we don't have the strawhat crew, all we have now is a bunch of politicians who want to take advantage in every opportunity they have. Yeah, it doesn't make much sense, and i might just kinda force things pathetically because i want to say my own narrative.. but it just feels like it.. Because both have the same motivation.. The war in Arabasta and the people power happened here.. Both have the same root and reason, which is, both countrymen love their country.. Well, in Arabasta they remained faithful to it.. not sure about my countrymen.. seems like the just want more freedom on their selfish activities.. Okay bye.. Shit happens. 😑

Just to add, the reason i believe Oda somehow gets the inspiration from our actual History: Luffy's design is just like the character played by Herbert Bautista as "Tenteng" in a 1986 film called Captain Barbell (obviously from Philippines)😅 -not sure if you're going to check it but searching their names together in google will instantly show their images. -the design is one thing, but the character was also quite convincing, Tenteng is an orphan, bubbly, joyful and you'd always found him smiling. -Luffy somehow ends up having a childhood in Gray Terminal which in real life, i can easily say, the Philippines’ Smokey Mountain (not very proud though)😆 I mean, if Oda was somehow influenced by it, it would make sense if he would take some of the things or events that transpired here. So, why made Arabasta the arc that resembles the Philippines's history? I mean, we are all aware that Arabasta simply parallels the middle east, for us, it's Saudi Arabia, wherein during 80's and 90's it's the most popular place for Filipinos if they want to work abroad. So there, my obsession was ignited. I'm not forcing it, I just can't help but relate all those things, not even claiming Luffy is Filipino in real life, Oda already said what he would be so, i can accept that. This is a tricky topic. Oda wrote that Luffy nosebled at Nami in the Alabasta sauna and stared at her bra in Little Garden because Usopp brings out his "bad" side or whatever. I think he was just retconning. Luffy follows the Goku archetype so you might be right, or at least he's like this now. Originally Luffy had a different vibe.

Most likely, Luffy becomes King of Pirates, changes the world lives his life and one day he will meet his crew on a Port in a Bar where he will meet a child who will tell Luffy "i will be a bigger and better Pirat then you". Hi! The inability to recognize how a person changes overtime is a common phenomena in multiple schools of thought. Everything from neuroscience to sociology. I read Oda’s work looking for polysemy, it’s why I am able to find deeper meaning. Beyond that, as an individual I have my own experiences that I bring to reading, just as you do. Luffy's design is just like the character played by Herbert Bautista as "Tenteng" in a 1986 film called Captain Barbell (obviously from Philippines)😅
-not sure if you're going to check it but searching their names together in google will instantly show their images.
-the design is one thing, but the character was also quite convincing, Tenteng is an orphan, bubbly, joyful and you'd always found him smiling.
-Luffy somehow ends up having a childhood in Gray Terminal which in real life, i can easily say, the Philippines’ Smokey Mountain (not very proud though)😆
I mean, if Oda was somehow influenced by it, it would make sense if he would take some of the things or events that transpired here.
So, why made Arabasta the arc that resembles the Philippines's history?
I mean, we are all aware that Arabasta simply parallels the middle east, for us, it's Saudi Arabia, wherein during 80's and 90's it's the most popular place for Filipinos if they want to work abroad.

But when it came to Boa Oda stated in chapter 523's SBS he states he is "interested but not entranced", and things like this can get a bit wonky because of translation but I interpreted it as Luffy may be attracted to her but not sexually attracted, Which led me to believe Luffy is asexual and doesn't have a type but can recognize conventional beauty.
This is a tricky topic. Oda wrote that Luffy nosebled at Nami in the Alabasta sauna and stared at her bra in Little Garden because Usopp brings out his "bad" side or whatever. I think he was just retconning. Luffy follows the Goku archetype so you might be right, or at least he's like this now. Originally Luffy had a different vibe.

My view in those two scenarios was that Luffy was reacting with Ussop like that for the bit, like he does a lot of times (I have done things akin to this with my friends), but with the "bad side" I feel like Oda is just joking around (although I do probably have some expectation bias as I am asexual). But because it isn't outright confirmed or denied and translation can get a bit wonky I see Luffy being asexual as a pseudo canon

Narrativly it would be more interesting for shanks, yasopp and mihawk to be killed by blackbeard pirates in order to further motivate their conflict; bb killing shanks would heavily affect luffy, shiryu killing mihawk in an underhanded way - tarnishing the title of the strongest swordsman would motivate zoro, and yasopps death could emotionally push usopp.
I also have theories about the others but yeah it would make sense for them to die before any straw hats meet em
Most likely, Luffy becomes King of Pirates, changes the world lives his life and one day he will meet his crew on a Port in a Bar where he will meet a child who will tell Luffy "i will be a bigger and better Pirat then you". Luffy and his crew laughs and Luffy gives his Hat that kid and tells him he shall meet him one day and bring back his Hat. And so begins the New Pirat age.
Theory I had when i saw the pictures. I think Vivi's picture is uncut because she is the descendent/reincarnation of a queen that imu was in love with when they came to power. I also think that love was unrequited because the alabasta royals remained in the world. She probably looks the exact same too.

It really made me disappointed that she can read between the lines and pick out the deep metaphors Oda placed in but get so caught onto a ridiculous narrative of Sabo. She took “My little brother hasn’t changed” at complete face value.
Hi! The inability to recognize how a person changes overtime is a common phenomena in multiple schools of thought. Everything from neuroscience to sociology. I read Oda’s work looking for polysemy, it’s why I am able to find deeper meaning. Beyond that, as an individual I have my own experiences that I bring to reading, just as you do. I’m caught up now so I wander around the comments. Hope you’re well.
