Bari Benny Blues (Baritone Saxophone SOLO)

- Hi! Hope your'e doing great!
This is a short blues I made recently. For years now, I have been thinking about starting my own bluesband, and last week I finally started making my own songs. I just bought this killer Selmer Mark VI (1968) baritone saxophone, and during studying I came up with this blues. This is just a short snipped of the first song I made. Don't mind the midi drums and bass, it will be recorded for real as well, this is just the first demo.
I liked it so much, that I thought is was worth it to make a short video as well! Hope you guys like it as well.

As I mentioned last commune, I recently started to play bari again. In the past, got good reviews when playing concert band and big band; but though, my saving grace was a decent set up, I feel I didn’t put time to correct my shorts! I play an inexpensive Hite, very good basic piece and an old Buescher from 40s 50s, great horn. It’s basically me that needs work!
I am a clarinetist; but I can function in other musical settings. I am starting out from “the good bottom line” playing on a new Yamaha 5C and will receive a Rico Metalite #7; which is at the other end from what you are using. I will progress onward. Today I will receive a call From SYOS. Like the sound Dayna Stephens gets.

Well, you dont need a crazy expensive mk6 to play like a badass or at least get your playing up. I chose for a mk6 because I wanted my investment to be safe. Selmers in general, and at the top the mk6, are known for having very stable value. I wouldve been (almost) as happy with a nice yamaha or something simular. But when I decided to play bari as well, after doing some research I noticed in general that all bari’s are quite expensive. Because I have to make a living with music, I need my instruments to be reliable and good sounding, so I was looking at the upper spectrum of the bari’s.
Don’t get me wrong, this bari is killer and I’m very happy and thankful to play on an instrument like this! I just try to explain good gear is not a must. A cheaper hammer will also get the nail in the board ;-)

Nicely done Sir Ben ! I looped that jam many times, and will again ! About to get my first Bari - hope to get that 'percussion' low 'Blat - Blat' as well as you do ! I'm decent with it on Tenor, but, woah - to hit ALL the Lows on the Bari so well - Do you have a 3rd Lung goin on there Bro ? :)
Hahaha, no third lung going on here. All, at least I think so. Ill get an x-ray just to be sure ;-)
As this is my first Bari as well, I wanted a mouthpiece that gets that "honk" sound, and I get that very easy with the Vandoren v16. It is def worth checking out!
@@BenRodenburg Hey - I got a $35 Rico MPC to practice on waiting for my Custom DRAKE .115. So Yup - After comparing the Rico (good for Rock & Marching Band) A better MPC is AWESOME !! I was intimidated by the Drake at first, but if you know your embouchure (as you obviously do) - This MPC Rocks !! I play a 'soft' Low A on this Drake, as I meander in the music lake, and - What's good for the Goose is good for this Gander - No Fake !!
Also - My Wife, who is not so essentially musically discerning, totally notices the difference betwixt the Drake and the Rico, So - I do want to try the Vandoren MPC's with THEIR Reeds - They have the best reeds too !!

Agree with The Jazz Cartel. If you have written this type of cool music - I would actually play, promote, buy, give credits to your songs, etc. I am not pro - only a 'hack' with a day job, but am getting more Fans as I keep playing "My Style". p.s. Love that vintage recording equipment !! I just retired some old Zoom-HD16 stuff and got my first USB Mic to go with Reaper . . . It's actually pretty good !

Usb and other digital stuff works great! The vintage stuff only gives you just a tiny bit extra with the digital stuff doesn't give you. And also, more knobs is always better :-)

Avitarus hi! On bari I play a Vandoren V16 B7 mouthpiece, Vandoren M|O ligature and Vandoren V16 2,5 reeds. Really love this combo! Sounds amazing and plays very comfortable.
