  • Today's video, we demonstrate how to safely remove tree sap from your paint. Tree sap ruins car paint! Have you ever parked under the shade of a beautiful tree only to find sticky tree sap all over the place? The sticky syrupy mess oozes out from trees and falls all over your car's roof, windshield, hood, and any other paintwork and glass.
Removing tree sap can be very tricky. Some people resort to rubbing and scrubbing with hard brushes or towels, but they end up scratching and swirling the paintwork as they go.
Others use caustic chemicals like hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, water displacement sprays, or lacquer thinner to melt the sap away. Those caustic chemicals can be bad for your health, and definitely remove any wax coatings from your paintwork, leaving it exposed to the elements and more sap contamination.
Using Butter Wet Wax to remove tree sap is easy, fast, cheap, and safe. If you love your car, chances are you already have a bottle on your shelf. You don't need a lot of product, just squeeze a couple dots of Butter Wet Wax on your microfiber towel, then rub it gently over the affected area. Give it a few treatments until all the tree sap is completely gone.
This Butter Wet Wax tree sap removal trick works on any shiny or clear surface on your car. Remove tree sap from paintwork, glass, clear optical plastics, and polished metals like chrome and stainless steel.

Tried this out today and it worked great. The sap spots were over 2 weeks old (work and a lot of rain prevented me from doing it sooner). I took a few applications on some of the spots, but they came right out with no swirl marks and minimal effort. Thank you guys for this tip, it saved me a lot of work and potentially a lot of damage to my new car!

There were other baked on sap marks that wouldn’t come out. I’ll try acetone (gently) next. Followed up using the Butter Wet Wax.

As usual I was skeptical because you made it look TOO easy. Well I can now confirm, 100%, it IS that easy. The sap just disappeared after a light wiping. I will swear by chemical brothers products from now on. Hi Charlie! Great input, the reason being that we wanted to demonstrate the simplest method of sap removal for detailing enthusiasts that don't have access to a hose or live in an area that doesn't allow car washes. Using a waterless wash followed by Butter Wet Wax is a very contained and easy to follow procedure.

      Brij Delada
Remove any contaminants after the wash via Clay Bar, then polish if needed, lastly you can protect the paint with glaze, sealant, and then // or just wax as a standalone protectant.

This didn't work well for me. My niece left her car at my house and I figured I would give it a good detail. In fairness, she had sap on her car that was probably baked on for years. I ended up using acetone nail polish remover. That worked well with a little elbow grease. Later, I tackled some of the chunkier sap with a plastic razor in combination with the nail polisher remover. Worked like a champ. Butter wet wax is a great wax product, though.
