      @@HomeOwnerRepair The job went well! The only part I got hung up on was the fan clutch removal. Mine was stuck on hard and I had to use a cheater pipe for additional leverage to break it free. Thanks again!

    Beautiful disassembly and reassembly. Exactly how I like doing things; the right way. Just noticed a small leak near the water pump housing today on my 300k mile 2500. Easy job, but I’m contemplating doing the timing cover gasket as I’m already halfway there for that too. It’s literally the last gasket/oil leak that I have on my engine but I’m kinda scared of that harmonic bolt lol. I know not to reuse it but it’s the shear fact of being scared of braking it trying to get it off. I may work up the confidence to do it and replace some stuff behind it as well.

      Thanks for watching. Toss an AC Delco pump in it if you can. The aftermarket parts that are out there right now are complete garbage

    ON older vehicles I was able to put a hose on the drain plug and drain straight into a pan. Can you do this on the newer GMC?

    A couple of questions. I noticed you didn't use a torque wrench to bolt on the water pump. Any reason for that? The second question is, does AC Delco recommend that you lubricate the gaskets before reinstalling the pump? What type of grease did you use? Thanks.
    Great video.

      We used a little bit of wheel bearing grease. If you torque the water pump bolts to what is recommended you should be fine. In the 30+ years Steve and I have been working on cars we never had an issue using the method shown in the video.

    Me, never having done a water pump before: "Why would you drain the rad?"
    Me, after the first hose: "That wasn't too bad"
    After the second hose: "Oh, that's why you drained the rad"

    Hitting the wire wheel with bolts is okay but you can take off the zinc coating

    • @goinhot9133
      @goinhot9133 Před rokem

      So you took zinc plated fasteners, removed the zinc, and then putanti-seize on them.. they weren’t stuck to start with, the zinc seemed to be working fine..

      @@HomeOwnerRepair I figured it out. If someone can do the rest of this repair, and can buy, borrow or rent a pressure tester, they can probably figure that part out too.
