The problem is the walkers bodies are rotting, because the brain is only keeping the bare minimum functions going, so unless they are semi fresh or in a good situation they just won't have the energy to do much. Actually, I think it'll be longer than that. Since the zombies aren't infected at the exact same time, if some people are infected at the 4 month mark, it would take 6~8 MORE months for THOSE zombies to decompose.

I don't get why some almost skeletal walkers can still move, I think muscles and nerves should remain intact and functional for walkers to be anatomically accurate. All the rest can rot, but that two things should be healthy and functional, like an insect with a cordyceps infection: he's zombified, but key parts for moving remain fully functional.

So the corpses don't move by some sort of "magical energy" but by their own limbs which should at least be somewhat in half-decent condition to move, not rotten to the bones. Remember this is caused by something like a parasite, a live one, not some sort of voodoo wizard. It reactivates the spinal bulb so it can send electrical impulses to the limbs for moving. It is stated IN THE SERIES and almost at the start of it, in the science center. In other words, a skeletal zombie moving doesn't make sense by their own lore in this serie, it doesn't matter if it is fiction or not because this is a rule stated in the series itself, it's lore breaking and uninmersive on it's own.

Season 6 reminds me of Gustavo Fring from the prequel to The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad. Gus was the first Walker before he collapsed and died. The prototype Walker Gus was could only last a few seconds, but soon the lifespans of Walkers would increase dramatically.

Imagine a zombie outbreak happens just like in TWD. Over 90% of infections would happen in the first year, maybe 2 years. In around 7 years, those infected will be nothing but bones. You could put your hand in their mouth and they'd be unable to bite it. The rest of the walkers would be survivors that got infected before that point. In any case, after 7 years or so walkers would be a lot less.
Here’s the thing, there hasn’t been a single walker that we’ve seen throughout every season, so this is the evolution of a bunch of different people who died in a bunch of different ways, so not all walkers will have no lips or skin peeling off.
I can tell you this. In the scene where Rick is trying to steal a truck with Glenen, only some human dead with gray skin color, fat zombies, rotten zombies with hollow eyes are seen, and the rich zombies are among the fastest running zombies.
I think that as the show moved on, the walkers looked for dead, and had more things wrong with them, then in the earlier seasons where they just looked like humans with Prosthetics.
In the later seasons, the zeds, walkers, etc start to rot and break down. And it really shows because you can tell if the zombie was turned recently. For example, season 11 had zombies with somewhat colored flesh, indicating that they recently been turned

In the later seasons, the zeds, walkers, etc start to rot and break down. And it really shows because you can tell if the zombie was turned recently. For example, season 11 had zombies with somewhat colored flesh, indicating that they recently been turned
