Iconic moment for the Hoosiers fans and Indiana University. Bob knight loved his students, loved the game of basketball, loved to Coach , loved molding teenage boys into young men , loved that his students all graduated, most of all he loved to win. The world lost a tremendous life force. Rest in Paradise Mr. Knight.

What a moment in time. So glad that he was able to come to Indiana a few years ago and reconcile with the University and the fan base after what happened there. He was The General and one of the greatest to ever teach Xs and Os on the hardwood.

The most unfortunate part is the animosity was so one-sided for many years. Most of the fans knew from the beginning that Coach was getting you-know-what-ed by the University when he was fired, and those that didn’t figured it out pretty quickly. Even the University wanted to invite him back a long time ago. I’m glad he was ultimately able to get to a point where he was ready to come back.

I'm a 62 year old grown man and I get just a little weepy watching this. Lifelong Michigan fan but just love this man and what he stood for. 98% graduation rate is all you need to know about him besides his tough, wining nature. He brought the best out in every player. I LOVE that he was able to return and participate in this honor. He certainly was a force of nature. I hope he received everything in life he could have hoped for.

Folks can call Coach Bob Knight crazy if they want to but at the end of the day, each time he coached neither of his programs had a single NCAA recruiting violation and the players he coached always had high graduation rates. The younger generations today outside of Generation X could never survive playing under a head coach like Bob Knight. Being a competitor in his era meant that you have to be hard core in demanding the best team playing attitude out of everyone and the hardest work from the entire team.

I grew up in Indiana as a kid in the 80s. Those cold winter nights when IU had a game during the week, my parents would let me stay up late to watch the game on Channel 4 in Indianapolis. Watching this was definitely a gut punch. Made me realize how great those times were and what a privilege it was to grow up as an IU fan. May the Hoosiers return to their former glory.

We all had a coach that we loved to play for that drove us harder, that barked at us harder, that made us better. Coach Knight was one of those coaches.
My favorite line: Coach Knight post game, gets asked by a young reporter, "Coach how do you think the Hoosiers lost this game?"
Coach Knight: after one of his long pauses: "Son, if you looked up at the scoreboard at the end of the game, the University of Indiana had fewer points than our opponent.....that's how you lose a ball game!"

and then the team and coaching staff, motivated by such an awesome spectacle and a reminder of IU's amazing heritage, went out in the 2nd half...and got destroyed by a subpar Purdue team. That was by problem with Archie and Crean..they just didn't seem to understand what Indiana basketball was. A lot of this is on the university itself which insists on ignoring its own heritage. I had hoped that woodson, having been part of the tradition, would change things but so far its the same old results. Maybe the game has just moved on. I doubt that I'll see Indiana compete seriously for a title (or maybe even get to the level where Purdue is now of at least competing in the tournament every year) again in my lifetime. I am glad I got to see it growing up in the late 80s and early 90s.
