These days, discussions of meditation and mindfulness appear everywhere from business and medical journals, to addiction and trauma recovery groups, to education conferences.
Mindfulness is the secret of living in the present moment. A life lived mindfully is a life lived full of peace, tranquility, joy, bliss, ecstasy and compassion. The simple practice of mindfulness has been around for thousands of years but today mindfulness requires a deliberate practice.
In this documentary world's leading experts delve deeper into the mindfulness practice.
    The film has four parts:
    1. What is mindfulness?
    2. Mindfulness Meditation (the formal practice of mindfulness)
    3. Mindful Living (the informal practice of mindfulness)
    4. Mindfulness at work

Taming the tiger!! The mind is a hindrance of mine 99% of the time with all its distortions and negative opinions. I am not my mind, was such powerful lesson for me learn and so freeing. I heard recently that a useful way of practicing mindfulness and meditation in general, is to begin seeking out mindfulness moments in small but an intentional way. I like that approach and it makes it feel more accessible to me. Or a quick body scan when l have 10 minutes free. It's probably one of the most beneficial practices l can do for myself as someone who is quick to feel overwhelmed and uptight. Certainly time very well spend! 😊✨

I’ve been under the care of mental health services on and off for about 10 years, in the UK. Mindfulness has slowly been used as a treatment for the past 6 years. At first I was a total skeptic but in the last 6 months I’ve been using mindfulness to help me. My life over the past 6 months has been the biggest challenge I’ve ever had to cope with. Without mindfulness I can honestly say I wouldn’t be here.

The practice of mindfulness is the holistic process of becoming self aware in the current state of your physical, mental and spiritual existence. Our self mastery stems from the knowledge that our minds are very powerful and that it is constantly shaping our realities and the manner in which we engage in the world as we perceive it. Like the masterful captain of a ship at sea, we must navigate our way through the never-ending waves of our own thoughts and feelings, being able to discern those that have been artificially produced and unconsciously suppressed while accessing the inner compass of our greater selves as a guiding North Star. To be mindful is to also engage with intent in order to deliver meaning to our actions, to become one with our true nature to access the divine force so that we may manifest from true inspiration. Being mindful is to be in the here and now, where no past exists and no future need be concerned, the actively conscious form of surrendering. Carry no judgements, ill-will nor machinations of ever-morphing thoughts, as the practice of mindfulness is to reconnect us with those greater aspects of ourselves where kindness and compassion thrives. Wishing everyone a transformative journey . . . czcams.com/video/SJYaCuFVVJ0/video.html

My husband of 21 years died 9 months ago. As one may imagine, I was an emotional, physical and psychological mess for a long time. I lived in a fog. Too much to do, too much to think about. This was not helped because I was a person whose mind naturally would fly from one thought to the next including going to the past, then the future, etc. I would carry on imaginary conversation in my head with situations to "practice" what I'd say. My mind, my brain was never at rest. Grief was overwhelming me and my world. So, 2 months ago I did two things to keep my sanity. I began mindfulness on my own (thank you Andy and You Tube) and started seeing a therapist. At first I was terrible at keeping my thoughts in check but over a month it got a lot easier. Yes, my mind drifts but now I can reel it in better. When faced with a stressful situation, I am now able to ask myself, "What is this all about." and I can sense it'll be easy to resolve. It may not be everyone's method but by my just thinking, "What's this all about." it calms me. I think about it, I don't drift to the past or the future when thinking what it's all about. I'm present with it.

My heart goes out to you about the loss of your husband. That's devastating.
I lost my wife of 10 years over a slow and traumatic battle with mental illness and alcoholism 4 years ago. I resonate strongly with what you described. I was already fairly ADD before but the trauma and earth shattering effect of losing my life partner took me to what feels like 100% ADD, never in the present moment.
I'm determined to improve my ability to focus and be present. Your comment and story here inspires me. Thank you for sharing ❤️

@@owlexS You are welcome. I can now sense and feel when I'm about to go "to the dark side" and I'm able to reel myself back in. Grief is our journey and no one can tell us how to travel it or how long it'll take. there are no short cuts. This may sound selfish but you need to take care of you. Best wishes. You'll find grief's place in your life.

To be focused on the only life there is, is the only thing that people who don't have hope do. Sure, savour the moments in life and the activities you do - but as in the words of C. S. Lewis ' Aim at heaven and you'll get earth thrown in'. God in Christ has offered us a way to enjoy this life and life eternally. A life without God is ultimately purposeless and even with lots of mindfulness, it's still meaningless because once you die, that's it. Noone knows where we will really go. If there is really a hell, those who don't believe in Jesus will perish. Those who do will be with God forever. There is no loss here for those who believe in God 😉. Call onto Him when you still have life, and be thankful. Thanks for your video.

Having heard about meditation and mindfulness for many years, I'm only recently starting to understand what it's really about: holding your attention and awareness in the present moment and "now". I'm so grateful for those that explained it in a way that I could understand that this practice and ability can be strengthened at all moments throughout the day. Present with your food, present in conversation, even more present in lovemaking. It's not just sitting on the floor in a formal meditation.

@@jesussavesus2210 yes, I do...as a child I went to church every Sunday until around age 11 when I had a traumatic experience with the church. I've always believed in God but struggled with the question of which religion was the real truth...until a few weeks ago when I came across a video that explained how the Bible is authentic. It explained how they've found the dead sea scrolls and scientists have compared it to the Hebrew Bible and it was exactly what was written. Plus a few other facts brought me to a place of confidence. I will be buying a new Bible but the old testament as I want the original writings. In the meantime I will look up the book of Psalms online. Tyvvm! 🙏🙏🙏

    • @owlexS
      @owlexS Před 2 lety +1

I thought the exact same thing at first. The rapid bouncing between the people speaking, the different visuals etc. But then I realized that this style of presentation was keeping my attention better than a 30 minute continuous shot of a monk explaining mindfulness. I'm definitely afflicted with ADD and currently have very poor mindfulness strength. I haven't been able to focus on anything very well at all for many years. It takes more and more stimulation for anything to actually hold my attention. I've only recently became aware/understood that it isn't a life sentence... I can improve my focus etc. through mindfulness.
I think the higher energy level of this show may have been intentional in order to better the chances of holding the attention of those of us in the early stages and have poor attention spams who really need to hear the message and learn what mindfulness really is. Even the repetitive explanation of the same ideas in different ways. I definitely found my own mind flying around on other matters constantly while watching this, so when I noticed and brought my attention back to the film, I may catch the learning that I missed 30 seconds ago while my focus was elsewhere.
So yeah. Definitely not the style of film that would sit right for 100% of people, but maybe for those of us who need to learn this the most, it was a better style. I am grateful for the material I absorbed watching this.
