Hats off to Jiri. No excuses, just a true warrior.
He had every reason to claim it was early, admitted he was in survival mode and accepted the stoppage. I think everyone else alive thought he had a chance to survive and come back but fair play to him, giving Alex his moment, no complaints like any other fighter would have. He wasn't beaten but admitted when it was stopped he was in big trouble.

Jiri is indeed a true champion, he gives me final boss vibes, like the one character in a video game that scares the crap out of you, lol. His entrance music gave me chills with Alex stood there dead still. I was rooting for Alex, but tbh I think they are both two of the most entertaining fighters in any discipline! a true win-win for the fans either way.

It's incredible how calm and composed Jiri has dealt with this defeat. Only he himself knows how he feels inside. But he didn't show anything on the outside except respect for the referee and respect for his opponent.

U need to pay more attention cause i definitely saw the emotions the ups and downs jiri definitely displayed defeat what do u expect from the man who just lost.. the emotions are there are u saying losers can't cry, winners can't cry.. or celebrate.. trust me jiri was not calm and composed his mind was spinning and I saw it.
When both Tom and Sergei put their hands on eachother's shoulder when the referee was telling them the rules, that was such a beautiful moment. In such a violent sport, moments of class and respect like that are amazing.

Nothing but admiration for Tom, he’s a down to earth person, and to openly admit his fears about taking on the fight, and his fitness issues at such short notice, just shows how much self belief he has. He’s right about facing down your fears, sometimes you just have to say “fuck it”! And go for it. Massive props to Tom for his respect to all opponents and fighters, a proper martial artist.

I found it weird how a lot of people made it look "oh he's scared, he's not confident" no dude of course all these fighters fear their opponents, and they're built different because they're able to get through that fear, they use that fear to keep themselves going, people who think these fighters usually have no fear completely misunderstand this whole thing, Ass penal was just confident enough to tell the truth
It’s like a war fighter saying he wasn’t scared in combat I’ve never heard one of them say he wasn’t scared.
Jiri has a new fan wow, to have the integrity of admitting he was out when everyone thought otherwise, shows the type of man that he is. He knew that Alex might not get the full credit for beating him and potentially set him up for a rematch. Still he was honest and showed his true colors.
Integrity sets us on a path of grace and glory. Jiri is a true champion, as is Alex.
I don't know how anyone thought it was an early stoppage. His arms went completely limp and he fell backwards. Even after sitting on his knees for a few he stands up, nothing in his eyes, walked straight to the corner and then turned and almost punched the ref. He was out for sure.
@@anopoabednego6173I take nothing away from Alex, his power and skill is truly phenomenal. However, to me that was a clear early stoppage. Yes his hands dropped but it's also Alex pushing Jiri back. I have been watching Jiri for 3-4 yrs now and I've seen most of his fights. He always says he got knocked out, for example with Reyes and Glover he got socked twice. Jiri was awake he was not unconscious, and yes Alex had him in full mount but people forget how good Jiris ground game is. To me he could've switched positions on the ground even when he's hurt. A perfect example of this is his fight with Glover. Overall, props to Alex, Jiri will be back 💪.
Jiri messed up big time costing him a potential rematch. It's great he's trying to learn English but I feel he's not able to fully express himself and a lot of things are lost in translation. I think what he really meant to say was the ref did what he thought was best under the circumstances and he was momentarily out but could have continued fighting

Tom Aspinall figured out Sergei by out angling him once he jumped the gun he’s got great instincts
and he saw Pavlo's left hook coming before the finish, that sequence happened a bunch of times and he countered the looping shot with a straight shot, also the leg kicks were working

The interpreter, Pereira's friend and training partner, does a relatively good job at explaining in English what he says in his native tongue. However, a professional, trained interpreter wouldn't leave out so much relevant information and would for example, make it clear to non-Portuguese speakers that his moving up to heavy weight is a real possibility in a couple of years.
I had the same thought, but I wasn't certain since I don't speak Portuguese. By the way, the UFC has an excellent professional interpreter who is also adept at conveying nuances for us.
I don't think Pereira is moving to HW, or at least he shouldn't imo. His chin is already suspicious in LHW. In HW he would get KO'd repeatedly, no doubt about it.

it's simple, he was knocked out but recovered quick. the thing is at that point, it's just a matter of luck whether or not the ref stops it or lets it go. cuz technically a knockout is a knockout, so it's a fair call either way. if the ref sees you recover quick and decides to let it go, then you're lucky, and technically you're getting a second chance

I did not like how Dana handled being asked that. He was being very disrespectful to the reporter. It was not a dumb question; it was THE PEOPLE'S QUESTION. Then he proceeds to insult him? That was not necessary. He could have just left it at, "I'm not interested," instead of going a mile further to mock someone for asking the question that has been on everyone's minds for a long time.
