- An amazing song from one of the best Manfred Mann's Earth Band album !
Lyrics :
By the waters of Babylon
We lay down and wept and
Wept for the Zion
We remember we remember we
Remember the Zion
A golden helmet blinded minds
Among ten thousand swords
Along the road to Babylon
A golden thunder silenced songs
Among ten thousand voices
On the road to Babylon
Well well well, beware that golden helmet
Well well well
There's no easy way to go
Well well well
No easy road to follow
Well well well ...
A golden ocean turned to fire
And burned ten thousand ships
Along the road to Babylon
Golden dreamer touched the sky
Alone in empty silence
On the road to Babylon
Well well well
Beware that golden thunder
Well well well
That dreamed and sang the song
Well well well
The empty sound of sorrow
I do nota own the copyrights of this song . All rights goes to Manfred Mann'a Earth Band . - Hudba
In 1975 one of my stoner friends turned me on to Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Still to this day I listen to the album's The Good Earth, The Roaring Silence and Watch. Yes folks, I'm old as hell and still have all my vinyl albums....all 8000 of them!!!
8k...Wow! I still have a small collection of 70s into early 80's. Bought a turntable about 20 years ago to make sure I had a device to still listen the vinyl. :)

how we all hated that sound from vinal and now to hear it is so cool and brings back so many memories
"Messin'" 1973 "Nightingales & Bombers" 1975 are excellent too!!!
What do you think of Chapter 3?
@@ryanmurphy6690 I think it's very good. Jazz-rock but in fact it was the beginning of MMEB moving on slowly to progressive rock and hard-rock and leaving a bit jazz.
Si señor.obra maestra de Manfred M.mi disco favorito.y tiene buenos......
back in the eighties, i would sit in the dark with headphones on and the light from early LED meters flashing at me . this album kept me sane but my ( then) wife thought i was stoned, instead of inspired. miss the 80's, don't miss her
Jim Boden I think it’s funny 😂
that made me laugh
This whole album is gold.
Not just the helmet, mind you
@@zyrkugilgamesh Imagine replying to a 6 year old comment.🙄
@@CB-xr1eg lmao that’s so true
I agree!
I was born in 1992... But I love Manfred Mann's : THANKS DAD !
Awesome. Was he into Floyd and Supertramp too?
@@BeeBumper Very similar story for me. Born in 1992, but my father introduced me early to the greatest of the 60s and 70s, active and passive haha. After some journey, I now know how to appreciate this amazing music!
Αγαπημενη μπαντα❤❤❤
This is a gorgeous song.
But Questions brings me to my knees.
And Starbird is amazing.
I got this album new in 1975 or so?
Listened to it in a damned sonic trance.
Epic!
This band has been seriously overlooked; they are up there with Pink Floyd. Great music.
Much better than Pink Floyd!
Uh yeah I like them but they are not in the same league. Manfred Mann was mostly into covers
THE BEST MANFRED MANS
Check out the solar fire album
@@BeeBumper Some covers... of a simple folk song, Manfred Band made a great Progrock Masterpiece!
Una locura de canción. Arriba las rastas, me descojono. Bendiciones ❤
i first heared this in 1978 stoned out of my head in, goa, india,,with a beautiful woman,,,,say no more,,,memories !!!!
My favorite is Watch, but most people find this is their greatest, omg the gtr solo is completely insane
Спасибо ! Мне очень не хватало такой музыки ! Всем счастья !
love you Dad for playing this for me when I was just a kid!!!!!
Makes my whole body get goosebumps. What masterful artists.
this whole LP IS a timeless classic will live-on forever & ever .
1976....what a great year!
I was 12 years old I heard this great song die the first time. Now I am 50 the song is still awesome..

14 and 14!!(I love being young and listening this music)
Sitting right here in the basement listening to this album on dads old LP player.
I first heard this song in 99...i was 4 years old and i can still remember the moment when dad put this record on!
Brilliant Album. Every track is a mind bender. Questions, anyone? 😎🤭
Yeah... Fantastic song from a great album...!!! 👍
Loved this album since it was new. Listening to some of it now, Marillion's Marbles album comes to mind.
Dans le top 10 de mes albums préférés....Musique intemporelle merveilleuse qui n'existe plus aujourd'hui. Vu Manfred en concert il y a 4ans mais en retrait derrière son clavier...
i used to listened to this album when i was in army,it kept me company
One band I wish I seen, but can attest to the roaring silence after a concert.
Best years ever ❤️
My favorite song by them......
When the best, always, still the best!
The best after 30-th years.
Great!
This album is pure beauty
I remember listening to this with my dad in his car! Fell in love with them, and have loved them ever since!
Classic classic ~

I am 53 and still going on . Holy glory . if you dont got something better to do !!!
Johan Gabrielsson
I'm 14 and I love this music :P
28 y.o here, I'm guessing this band has some great variety of ages among fans.
21, just in the army. I bought the Album for just 5 Deutschmark. "Never in my history I paid so little for so much😊
I'm 66 and still listen to this masterpiece.
21 years old. I did my duty in the army. Bought the album for only 5 Deutschmark. Never in the history of my life did so little money so much for me😊
I bought it in Darmstadt for a carton of cigs i bought in PX for $2 .
Bought it in Bad Kissingen W. Germany (2/11 ACR) at the audio/visual club on post

this song defines the word 'epic'.

This....and Solar Fire.
If you've never heard that one, do yourself a favor...... 😉
My fave 70s 'Groovy' song.
One damn beautiful song, so much nostalgia.
I remember playing this for the first time foe my step-dad he thought the start was stupid then once he started singing he changed his mind and loved this song and played it in his head as he went hunting.
an old favourite of mine !!!i was in india ,,off my box when i first heard it !!!
One of my all time favorites!
Вещь супер
This is one of the better constructed guitar solos OF ALL TIME, imho, yet it has been lost to obscurity. Sad..
I love to hear this track in the evenings on the road.

Greatest prog album of all time.
Timeless!
My road song
Found this album on audiocassette in the back of a drawer a few months ago. It's nice to hear a good quality version of this song.
Thank you for the upload minaswarning. Absolutely brilliant song, may this album never ever be forgotten.
Excellent Album I have the record.
Yes, thanks for posting. I have the vinyl but don't get the phonograph out that often and I miss Mann. Sing the Dolphin, Starbird, Questions, could listen to this all night long.
❤
thanks for posting..been looking for it for yonks!!
Thanks Stripes... You've introduced me to an amazing band.
Este álbum continua sendo um dos pioneiros.
yes Barbara, I think the same, every LP are simply so good
Remember this playing in my car with the graphic equaliser 🤪
Εκπληκτικό κομμάτι🙏🎸🙏🎸🙏🎸
когда-то в юности я обменял комсомольский значёк на закрутке, на кассету Marfred Manns Earth Band)
Предатель Родины. Прискорбно.
Вот так вы и всю страну обменяли на гамбургеры со сникерсом.
voila le morceau que j'aimerais écouter en concert
This is an awesome song, and I love the song "Babylon" Ill Bill did with it too.
Nice progressive
dope!!!
Voilà, selon moi, un morceau d'anthologie
Alot of people I know probably haven't heard this album before
First 1:28 is just EPIC. It matches best of Pink Floyd, Yes or King Crimson. Then not the greatest chorus, makes this song ALMOST flash of genius.
I still love this song and band after all these years, but it seemed to me that this particular version was digitized too fast. So, I pulled out the vinyl, checked the speed of my turntable with a strobe, made sure it was right.......and it is digitized too fast. Maybe they made that mistake when they remastered it. But, once again, it's still a great song.
... den Zustand kenne ich🤗😁
"Spirits in night" is almost o,n the same level and performance
THE HOUR OF REPRISAL
Estos weyes se la rifan
at 0.52 used to flip the graphic equaliser on Sorted. happy days.
Doo wha diddy diddy dum diddy do!
David Flett was their best guitarist .....!
This whole album so overrated plus the RR Hall of Fame needs to induct MMEB🎸
+Andy Berman u mean underrated ...
you wrong man he good but first guitarist he the best he play bob dylan father a son father of day
Mick Rogers played on most of the album's
Brilliant guitar work
Did anyone have this on vinyl? The official lyrics on the back are so wrong it's unbelievable.
I bought the album when it first came out in the 70's and to be honest with you I never looked at the lyrics for any of the songs on this album.
The Lyrics say "Wept for the Zion We remember we remember we Remember the Zion" not "these i am" because the original song , means with zion jerusalem , and its a history song - sry for bad english
Thee, Zion.
ne glatte 1
Does the golden helmet reference king Nebechanazzer?
Платина рока
He has a David Gilmore style of guitar playing.

burada çok yalnızım :')
Turkçe yazdığın içindir..:-D Yoksa MMEB dinleyen çok ülkemizde..:-D
Here's my brilliant parody of this song, entitled "Frankie Avalon": www.amiright.com/parody/70s/manfredmann20.shtml
Excellent song. Don't understand why they ended it the way they did, it just kinda cuts off. Prefer the live version as they end it properly. One of my all time favorites nevertheless.
It ended like Babylon: suddenly there's nothing!
Iwas born in the wrong generation
