In this MV Adam is showing us that he has two sides:
The edgy side
And the soft side
(I'll just call them E and S)
They kinda hate each other but also can't live without each other.
At 1:57 E looks like he's cold and crushed what I think was a heart.
He thinks that he doesn't need love and that it just hurts him.
E slowly starts freaking out while S is just chilling as usual.
At 2:27 S wants to play chess with E,
He wants to get closer to him, wants E to 'love' him
But E is just avoiding him.
At 2:33 you see E trying to burn down his room. He wants to kill S.
They're connected in some way, because when E is burning down his room the one who almost dies (lack of oxygen) is S.
At 2:51 E looks in the mirror and sees the monster he has become.
So at the end E breaks the wall between the two and saves S.
It shows that you need both to live.
Adam has got two different eye colours at the end, wich means that they are both "working" inside him.
Kinda like this "Left and Right brain" thing.
We all don't have just one side.

This video holds tons of hidden meanings. On one side, Adam is an unforgiving, malicious, violent person and on the other he his balancing himself, so that he won't be on the edge. Throughout the song though, his darker side is slowing stripping away his insanity, making it harder for him to keep a grip on his fears. He slowly starts to hyperventilate and lose air, while his former self is pushing the walls of the glass that bind them, to save his other half. Last, after success, he walks out of the building with a pair of eyes that are completely different. One blue, One brown. This shows that he has chosen to equally balance both of the two parts that he truly is.

A few years ago, I was in an extremely dark place, full of self destructive behavior and alienating everyone because of the rejection of someone I loved and I let myself spiral. I would listen to this song and cry, but it was the realization that the person he was talking about was himself. The balance of both the pain and darkness and the light, and the will to do better and be good. We need both to be real. This song, this music video, was such a huge pivotal moment in my life.

This video now makes sense more than it did years ago when I first heard it when released. I’m diagnosed with major depression and anxiety, meds and therapy help. But this video explains mental health. One side is the one that has no care in the world, will be destructive and all over the place, while the other side is trying to keep calm and sane. The dark side is wanting the other to join, to fully emerge and be the same, while the light side is saying no and trying to help the dark side. Both sides fighting each other. The dark side is spiraling and needs the light to keep it from going off the edge. When the light loses oxygen, it’s like a panic attack, you struggle to breathe, but the dark helps them breathe, as in you let yourself feel and let it out before it completely crumbles you and takes over. At the end of the video, they’re both balance, two eye colors, they balance each other and are controlled.
I didn’t even notice the two eye colors! This video also reminds me of Grease at the end when Danny Zuko changes from wearing a leather jacket to a sweater.

One thing I love about Adam’s music videos is he always puts in so much emotion into the singing, like I know it’s lip syncing for the video, but he *looks* like he’s singing it all live with all the emoting. It was over three years ago that I found this. The song itself has always been one I can listen to, and it'll make me feel better no matter what. The video makes me calm, not sure why. But, it's something I can always turn to even after all this time and I'm grateful.
